  1. the digital info is not purely audio... which is why it's "proprietary" it also has some sort of midi info... which is what allows the guitar to control other things... and allows the pod to control the guitar... it's with good reason that they created their digital format... its not like they just did it so that you can't record... there are probably a million ways to record the guitar... use one of them :D
  2. it's downloading your tones from the variax so that you can edit them... you need to let it do this...
  3. maybe a harmonizer? octaver? or just pitch shifter?
  4. you might try swapping out the tubes... i've heard that can make a big difference in how quiet the amp is.
  5. how did you get pod farm? it typically comes with an interface... and if it came with an interface you need THAT interface.... if you bought pod farm separately, then you MAY be able to use your existing card... IF the manufacturer provided ASIO compliant drivers... if not... you need an ASIO compliant sound card or interface.... ALSO of note... you speakers must be connected to the same interface/soundcard as you are inputing into.
  6. FYI... workbench HD requires the variax interface and firmware 2.0 it will not work with the variax connected to your pod at this time. (you can use the pod to update to 2.0firmware though)
  7. i'm sure you're accurate... more pods sold than variaxes... but what do pods without variaxes have to do with the topic? only the JT variaxes at that...
  8. works fine for me... although i've been using my mac lately, so not sure if its apples to apples...
  9. yeah the old presets will not work... but if you click on the strings tab in workbench HD, the show the strings vertically and you can pick the tuning by note not 1, 2 etc you can also turn any model into a 12 string now :)
  10. you probably have tone 2 locked? look for little lock icon above 3rd knob under display.. twist when its unlocked change presets.
  11. not true... the update only applies to JTV's and every one of them shipped with the plastic interface... not every JTV owner bought a pod.... (although probably most did) i want it to work through the pods too... but truth is truth :)
  12. I was never that impressed with the previous gretsches myself, just didn't have the woodsy bark i was looking for. There are still people that love the old pod 2.0 models, it's all opinion. feature wise 1.9, doesn't have alot less, if you ended up staying there most of what you'd miss out on is the new workbench... i think workbench is going to get alot more use now that it's left it's "word perfect" ancient GUI. i bet you'll be able to address alot of your concerns and ultimately be swayed to 2.0 with some tweaking in workbench... but just in case... i've reflashed in a couple of instances when i didn't think things were right... and things got right.... so a reflash is ALWAYS worth a try IMO.
  13. direct link to mac osx workbench hd 2.01 http://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=5638
  14. sounds like you should just stay with 1.7, since you will also have the older acoustics that you seem to like. I think 2.0 is GREAT myself... just my opinion of course.... but i'm loving it.
  15. I would wait in your case... I do not believe that the old version of workbench will work with the 2.0 fw you can update via the pod... but no workbench without the interface (currently)
  16. depends on the desk, but i'd try something with either velcro or tie wraps... but that's me thinking quick and easy, and changeable if it doesn't work out.
  17. pretty sure the interface is the same.. but the new ones come with the interface anyway....
  18. i'm digging the new logic.. primarily for the same reason some people hate it... it feels more like an expanded garageband.. everything that's easy about garageband... now with logic features.
  19. This thread is totally welcome and encouraged... and i understand you're frustrated... but the comments in which you belittle are only people trying to help...
  20. and miss out on those juicy 89 mag models! haha :D
  21. You'd be surprised how much i actually get done... i'm a multi-tasking ninja  Probably support close to 2000 clients everyday! telecommuting has it;s benefits.
  22. They do plan to make the pods work... they just didn't want to hold up release.
  23. We have asked the question again to be sure.... but from what we know they had not been altered... we'll let you know either way once we have confirmed.
