  1. nothing is set in stone... likeliness is slim... but they have made code optimizations in the past that allowed them to do more than they initially expected.
  2. exactly like +/- some hz but not like changing the low e octave string to a b or anything like that... so not a full alt tune, more like a slight detune.
  3. i believe that you can only detune the "offset" and not the individual strings on the 12 strings... but i've never bothered... just an FYI... if i recall correctly.
  4. I don't have an 89 to know firsthand the limitations, but custom 2 should not be a problem... also you can save the models anywhere not just custom 1/2...
  5. I was told in the beta way back by a reliable source that it will never get the recording update like the x3, because of hardware limitations... (same reason it won't ever get separate 1/4"-xlr outs)
  6. if it's a JTV-89 you can't currently use custom 1 (it has hard coded models of the factory pickups for use with alt tunings) you'll need to use custom 2.... if its a different JTV you may have a different issue.
  7. No... you are going to have to start over from scratch sorry... best advice i have.... don't try to do the same tones from the x3... the modeling is way different and reacts/sounds different... best to start with the amp, and go from there... of course.. the manual is a good place to start as well :)
  8. you can safely assume that they are working on the next gen of everything... (they may not even call them spiders... who knows!) i would also safely assume, that you're not likely to get an official or otherwise knowledgeable confirmation from anyone until everything is good and ready. :) no harm in asking though....
  9. i'd go a step further, and say the real secret isn't even learning how to use workbench... you really need to learn how to build and mod guitars... workbench is just an extension of that... i somehow doubt you'd ever find a full and accurate tutorial on that subjective topic... but workbench is easy... and powerful, if you know what you're doing or just don't mind experimenting (like myself)
  10. this is inaccurate.. there is no acoustic emulation in the 500 or 500x, and no direct humbucker simulation either...
  11. sounds like it's down to the unit.... which is what tech support already determined... sounds like you did all the right tests.
  12. why the hd500? the JC120 distortion should have you covered.... :D  :o  :D (i've actually never heard a worse distortion... can't imagine how that never got fixed in the 40ish years that models been out)
  13. this issue overall , is either a driver installation issue... a bad usb cable, or an issue of trying a more agreeable port on your machine... (rear instead of front, or usb2, instead of usb3 for examples) outside of that you're likely looking at a service trip.... would not hurt to try a second machine to eliminate computer issues.
  14. you can ship the item... if its in warranty you can even ship it direct to line6. line6 doesn't do out of warranty work. close is usually good to save a little on shipping... but if you're out of warranty... you can try to get a quote and send it to whichever service center you like.
  15. there's no one but us other users here... so continuing on about your same subjective opinion, is not helpful to other users... whether they agree or not... line6 has chosen to proceed with the newer acoustic models... the choice always exists for a user to stay with the older firmware and be happy... much like someone saying they liked the x3 better than the hd... great... but line6 is not going to suddenly decide to ignore all the R&D they've invested in. if you prefer the x3, get an x3.... if you prefer the older models... use the older models... no one has to lose here... although the price is that you will lose whatever fixes, tweaks, upgrades that came after... but the price is the price.
  16. lots of us read the forum just to see if we can help you.... doesn't mean we all have the same problem.... lots of fbv owners do not use the computer features.... (and like all computer use.... the majority would be windows users) be patient.. you are not likely to get a quick answer.
  17. well the direct answer is that they aren't available... they aren't even selling the x3 anymore so the chances of that changing is pretty much none.
  18. more goes into tones than just twisting some knobs... the implementation is also important... a tone for a specific amp.... would not sound the same on a different specific pedal.... the tones you are asking about might not even be from the same generation of modeling... depending on what spider you have.... anyway... find some tones you like and rock on... this would be a really silly thing to make into some huge issue....
  19. None. the m13 won't do anything desirable to the DT amps without an intermediary device.
  20. it's not that obvious from where i'm sitting! :D you have to authorize the UX1 and not the computer, unless you paid separately for the pod farm 2 license.
  21. Hold tight... I'm not the patient type either... but there isn't much longer to wait.... and NO.... I can't be any more specific than that :)
  22. That shouldn't be a problem, the only known issue is connecting to workbench.
  23. you could say the same about any amp or any pedal... some people just prefer to strip it to basics and it works for some... don't really think those people are the target crowd for JTV's... in any case, I know lots of people who play out regularly with JTV's and they are able to adapt and overcome...
