yes, if you are trying to get the standalone sound you will need to have cabs on.

because the amp's they are trying to emulate have different cabs etc... no one size fits all.

None, that we know of... I imagine that they will probably skip IV and come out with one as a spider V or whatever they are going to call it.... if they do it.

the pod studio would be the direct replacement... probably the GX if the guitarport had what you needed.. you can't get those licenses anymore. it now comes with pod farm 2.5 (which will use old your old gearbox tones!) and riffworks, you'd probably need to crossgrade to their standard license to support most any modern operating system (its reasonably priced...)

i think they are just assuming if you can get the top of the line pod, you'd probably want the top of the line amp... pretty much marketing... the DT25 will work great if that fits your needs better.

try getting an external usb card... nearly all drop issues i've ever seen end up being usb hardware or cable related ultimately... also use slimdrivers (google it) its free and it will get your motherboard drivers etc... to a larger degree than you'd ever think to do on your own.

Yes, you workbench needs an update before it will work with the hd500x, since you have a JTV you can of course use the usb interface that was included until then. the fix should be released soon.

do you have the UX1 plugged in? it owns the license not you, so it is required to be plugged in when using pod farm.

you need to have a separate midi interface connected to the dt25, monkey will see it. it will not work without a separate midi interface.

are you using pod farm 1? pod farm 2 is the only version that has a trial version... and you don't mention having bout a pod farm 2 license, and they were never included on the toneport models (only pod studios, and not all of them... depends on date purchased.)

if it still says update flash, try updating it... or actually downgrading... try downloading an older version file and use the flash from file option.... once that's successful (and you do the post update calibration) try updating to the latest again.

you need to reset the globals.... meaning hold the direction key left (not down) while powering on.

you need a pod HD500 to use the h5e tones... they will not work with your floor pod plus.

pro tools by itself is 699.... which is why people buy the eleven rack because it's essentially free... or its a 350$ rebate on your protools purchase :)

they have no current android offerings.... and they have specific iOS offerings (mobile in, sonicport, midi mobilzer, mobilekeys) you can see where their focus is.... if they are currently pursuing an android anything i'd be surprised... they've never even hinted at the prospect,

the regular 500 (not x) works fine with the current variax workbench software and the original variaxes.

yes the x3 live works with workbench.... (nothing changed with workbench... it just doesn't have the code to support the new hd500x yet) the fix for the hd500x should happen quickly... I think they are hopefully just finishing up the new variax 2.0 update and the new version of workbench before they go back and fix the original workbench... i assume they'll fix the original workbench... they may not... depends on if the new workbench supports the older variaxes or not... if the new workbench supports older variaxes they may not bother... if your variax is a JTV (or you bought one separate), just use the workbench interface temporarily.

No.... the licenses belong to the X3 and not you. the x3 needs to be plugged in. the only way around it is to buy a pod farm platinum license (299$) not very reasonable really... in fact, you'd probably be better off buying a secondhand x3 to keep plugged in... (and you'd have a backup)

do you have the ux1 plugged in? the license belongs to the ux1 not you... and it will only have the license available when it's plugged in.

they regularly get posted on ebay in the 350$ range new.... what happens is someone buys it just for the new version of protools and then sells the hardware.... i was considering picking one up because of the good price... and no... i'm not going to bite on the mini-war :D
