  1. is it 2010 again? wtf... why we having the same tired argument.... the updated 500 (500x) does a small bit more for the same money... you'll sell a million burgers at 1$, or you can sell 1 burger for a million dollars... which is going to sell faster? line6 is a business. you don't go to mcdonalds and ask for a lobster dinner... if you want a specific product... go to whoever sells that specific product.... if the specific product you want hasn't been made... make the suggestion and move along... maybe one day it will... maybe not... maybe when it is finally made, they'll be something better anyway.... and you'd only be kidding yourself if you don't think that line6 has plans beyond the HD series...
  2. the would not have made it readable if that was the case... the old forum software had spam issues...
  3. well the pod xt, can use licenses and model packs and the esn is used for verification.... if you have no model packs the esn issue should not really be more than an annoyance... i had one with the issue, and had no problems updating, and using gearbox etc... you can always download and update from file... if it's giving you some connection error... they are designed to be used offline as well... the hd pods do not yet have model packs... but the fact that they have an esn... we can assume they may one day...
  4. one thing to look at is that workbench requires java... it might be worthwhile to uninstall workbench and all versions of java, then reinstall workbench and allow it to install it's desired version of java. (might not work if you're using a mac)
  5. i don't think that this is it... because the workbench interface has a red light when its not powered on... he said both sides were green.... i would however try another network cable... the included cable on my workbench hardware, had an issue right out of the box... a new standard cat5 cable fixed me right up.
  6. they've pretty much stated (via their facebook) that they have no intention of doing any model updates that the 500 can't handle firmware wise... it's only that you can do more with the 500x... not different... just more of the same.
  7. Thanks for the info... when i first had the idea of trying this i sat down expecting to learn lots of midi and figure it out... was quite surprised at how simple it was... certainly not a midi guru... :)
  8. its not the same thing i realize... but running an m5 in the loop of my hd500 with midi connected... its as easy as selecting whatever i want on the m5, and saving the tone... when i switch to that tone on the hd500, it selects the preset that i selected and saved. have you tried something to this effect?
  9. I've seen posts on the old forums where flashing with the m-audio uno was able to bring back a failure... if you already have the uno, have you got the drivers from their site? i've had mixed results with other generic usb/midi cables, and line6 only tests using the UNO.... so it's a safe bet for their intended purposes.
  10. it's also notable that the leak site was not English as a primary language... perhaps it simply got mixed up in translation.
  11. true. they do have the L3 and L2 speakers which aren't tube and can be used similarly. they are somewhat pricey as well, but once you consider the price of an amp and comparable speakers they may not be too far... anyway... just something you might want to lay eyes on while you're researching.
  12. it's not twice the power either!!! closer to a 20% increase in processing capability.
  13. allen wrench is for adjusting the tension on the expression pedal.
  14. to me it sounds like i would look at the input jack itself, but no i've not had the problem.
  15. just buy pod farm 2.5 standard... all your packs will work fine! :)
  16. even if you did change the channels on the amp in some way... you will lose all your POST effects, because the audio travels one way... it will not turn around and pickup your effects before playing.... seriously... there's no reason to go around the integration.
  17. they never claimed it was.... so they are not likely to give you any evidence.
  18. it wasn't even hype... it was a leaked ad that was incorrect. and your analogy is off... more like putting a 3.6ghz cpu to replace a 3.0ghz (about 20% improvement if what i'm hearing is correct)
  19. it is a downside... just not a defect.. can't fight the physics part. certainly good to be aware of it.
  20. not likely... the pod HD's use the m13 effects... so i think they are still considered current... i think any upgrade to the m13 is likely to be a new pedal altogether.. just my opinion though.
  21. they all come from the same factory... there is no european version. the black ones were an early prototype.
  22. you probably should look at the new LT3 speakers instead... still does the whole dream rig thing via FRFR much better suited for acoustic stuff.
  23. the DT amps are pretty awesome with the pods... pretty much a modular vetta 3 (of course you need 2 DTs to do stereo)
  24. anyone else notice this? http://www.apple.com/logic-pro/whats-new/ looks like alot of new toys!
  25. not sure how you came to that conclusion... the alt tunings take the individual strings as they are naturally vibrating and pitch shift them to the desired tuning.... if the desired tuning is already the natural vibration it skips the last part.... no... your strings vibrate as tuned... and the pitch shift does what you ask it.... so there will always be a difference between natural tuning and alt tuning...ALWAYS. this is perceptible and apparently a big distraction for some users... but that's just something we as users can either deal with, or not (as in a variax isn't for you)
