Keep the previous snapshot when alternating presets
phil_m replied to ArthurBoutellis's topic in Helix
No, the snapshot that’s loaded when you load a preset is the one that was active when the preset was saved. So there’s no way for the Helix to recall what snapshot you were in when you leave a preset apart from re-saving before you leave it. -
Yes, the Helix in the rest of the world ships with a universal power supply, but it could be that they ship a Japan-specific one for whatever reason. There may be some sort of specific regulation, or it could be that since the 100V is at the bottom of the range of the universal power supply, that it causes issues. But I haven’t seen this before.

The Helix isn’t supported by Monkey, so you can’t use the Helix to update the Variax firmware. Do you have the little VDI adapter that came with the Variax? You can do the update through that. What firmware is your Variax running?
-
No, I’m sure that capability won’t be coming to the HX Effects, as it simply a difference in the way the expression jacks on the two devices are wired. On the HX Effects, the jacks can be set up to be expression inputs or amp relay outputs. On the Stomp and Stomp XL, they can be used for expression pedals or switches.

I’ll bite… What makes it more visible on stage? The Fractal scribble strips are actually quite a bit smaller than the Helix ones. As far as the iOS editor, that’s a third party app, isn’t it?

Not to be nit-picky, but the Helix Floor is selling for $1499 in the US now. They moved some production from China, so they were able to avoid the tariffs that had raised the price since the initial introduction.

Did the feel of the stock cabs improve with oversampling?
phil_m replied to mattbarden's topic in Helix
Cabs and IRs aren't processing elements that I'd associated a feeling with, as far as feeling being related to dynamic response. That's to say, the way a cab block responds to an incoming signal isn't depending on the input level. It has a linear response, like an EQ. As far as oversampling, I wouldn't really affect that would have an effect on the cab blocks, either. Oversampling mainly effects elements where saturation or distortion is at play. With lower oversampling rates, you can get aliasing with saturation because of the way harmonics are generated in the higher frequencies. Overtones beyond the Nyquist limit are generated, so they get interpreted as lower frequency signals, and that becomes harmonic content unrelated to the original frequency. They did change all the cab default settings at some point, and I believe that was after 2.80, so it could you're hearing that. Or it could be that the oversampling is affecting something you were hearing in the amp models themselves, so that signal sounds slightly different through the cab models. -
If you have the input and output set to instrument level and the volume knob all the way up, you’ll have unity gain through the unit, and there shouldn’t be any difference in level with it off compared to when it’s on.

Real envelope filters exhibit that same sensitivity to pitch. That's why there's a Range control on a Mu-Tron. They can be tricky. But I actually sold my Mu-Tron III after comparing it to the Helix version. I didn't think there was that much difference at all between the analog pedal and the Helix model. As far as auto-swell, the newer ones can be a little hard to get right. Try using the Auto-Volume Echo model in the Legacy Delay folder with the Mix set all the way to zero. This will give you the classic Slow Gear type sound. And it's not as picky about the input levels.

There was one available when you first asked the question, but, OK...
-
I don't think there will be an additional Helix form factor at this point. That being said, I would think you would be able to take the Helix in the backpack as a carry-on. I know I've read of a number of people doing it. I mean, they can't please everyone for every exact use case, though.

The Analog Chorus is a unique model on the HD series. The wet and the dry sounds are both panned to a side (I believe dry is left and wet is right). So depending on where the block is in your signal chain, it’s possible to not hear the wet sound.

No. Like I said, there’s no difference. You should see the four camera icons on the screen (assuming you’re in Performance View). There is no snapshot naming on the POD Go currently, so you just select which on you want based on the number.
-
You have to press and release the Bank Up and Down switches quickly, not hold them down.
-
In POD Go Edit you switch snapshots by using the pull down menu at the top of the screen. On the hardware, you need to go into Snapshot Mode. I guess I’m not understanding what the issue is for sure. Do you just not know how to change snapshots?
-
Upload? You mean load them on the POD Go? There’s no difference in how you do it. Technically, all presets have snapshots. It’s that some don’t use them (all four snapshots are identical until save one).

UNACCEPTABLE! DT25 NIGHTMARE! Power Transformer
phil_m replied to maxwalmsley's topic in DT50 / DT25
Not trying to be difficult. I’m just saying I’ve seen it happen quite a bit where the European counterparts tell people something different than what the main office is in the US tells them. It comes up quite often on Facebook. -
UNACCEPTABLE! DT25 NIGHTMARE! Power Transformer
phil_m replied to maxwalmsley's topic in DT50 / DT25
By whom at Line 6? There really isn’t one single person who speaks for them most of the time. You can get different answers depending who you talk to. The fact is if they’re still available as new, I believe they are required to honor the warranty, so that means they’ll need to have some parts available some way or another. I might send a message to Frank Ritchotte about this… He’s usually the guy that has the answers. I’m curious myself. -
UNACCEPTABLE! DT25 NIGHTMARE! Power Transformer
phil_m replied to maxwalmsley's topic in DT50 / DT25
Right now, there are shortages on all sorts of parts in the electronics industry, so I guess it’s not clear to me if they are going to not shop that part at all in the future, or they can’t source them at the moment. Obviously if they’re still building them, they have the part, but it might be that they aren’t actively building them right now. Some of these older SKUs seem to be built in small runs. -

I always thought the transformer issues were pretty much with the DT50 amps, not so much the DT25. I’m sure you’ll find reports of blown transformers here and there for the DT25, but with the DT50 I believe there was an actual technical bulletin issued about them. -
Is Monkey Supported for Mac OS These Days?
phil_m replied to JScotty317's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
If you’re talking about Workbench HD, it still works fine on both Windows and Macs. It’s a 64-bit application. Line 6 Monkey is the issue on Macs (those running MacOS 11 and newer). It’s needed to update the Variax firmware, but there really hasn’t been a firmware update for the Variax in quite awhile.
