  1. Monkey isn't compatible with Catalina or Big Sur. It's a 32-bit application, and at this point, I don't expect Line 6 is going to release a 64-bit version of Monkey. I could be wrong, but none of the newer products that Line 6 has released depend on Monkey as Line 6 Updater has taken its place. It's probably more realistic that Variax support will be added to Line 6 Updater, but I honestly don't know where that is either. There hasn't been a Variax update of any importance in quite awhile now. But in the meantime, your best bet is to find a Windows machine or an older Mac running a pre-Catalina OS you can use if you have to use Monkey. It's not a great answer, but that's where things stand.
  2. I just listened to that song, and I’m not hearing any super obvious tremolo parts. Are you talking about the lead line towards the end? To me that sounds more like chorus effect with high depth setting and fast rate.
  3. I have never actually played through a Carbon Copy, but it's just a pretty simple BBD delay without modulation, isn't it? There are a bunch of different analog delay models on the Helix. The Adriatic Delay is probably the most flexible. The Bucket Brigade is a Boss DM-2 model, so it's close in concept to the Carbon Copy, at least. You might also want to try the Mod/Cho Echo, which is essentially the Analog setting from the Echo Park pedal.
  4. You have the delay on a parallel path in the first preset, and in the second one you don't. With it on the parallel path, you're doubling the amount of dry signal, so the repeats won't seem as loud.
  5. Do you have the input pad off on the Helix and the input set to line level on the XL? The outputs on both set to instrument level? How are you coming up with the 6dB measurement? If you’re comparing the levels from the dry USB inputs, I believe there is a difference there, as the Helix has a single mono guitar input, whereas the XL has stereo inputs. The thing is even with a 6dB higher noise floor, that’s still better than any other guitar processor on the market.
  6. Line 6 Edit? I’m sure it’s not going to be updated… What is the last piece of hardware that was released that used Line 6 Edit even?
  7. The headphones are fine. It’s probably possible to damage them if you play a super loud signal to them for a long time - like loud enough that the headphones are pushed to the point of clipping - but from what you describe, I’m confident they’re OK. The sort of thing you described probably happens all the time.
  8. Yes. Global Settings>Displays>Tap LED.
  9. Since when you’re hitting any of the footswitches, you’re actually loading a new preset, this means any settings in the preset you’re coming from wouldn’t apply… What you could do is create a Stomp assignment for the switch that you’d be using for the preset you’re currently in. What I mean by that is that of your 10 footswitches, 9 will be for taking you to different presets, and the 10th is for the preset you’re in now. You could still leave that command, but add a dummy block - a Gain block or something - and assign it to that footswitch. Make sure the preset os saved with that effect turned on, and then the LED indicator should work. When you load the preset, the footswitch for that preset will be lit up.
  10. I think the one thing they want to keep consistent is that the Mode footswitch always toggles between Stomp and Preset Mode. It’s just that the other devices allow you have an alternate mode for Preset Mode. Also, pressing down the Bank footswitches together to get to Snapshot Mode is also consistent across all the devices. The Stomp is the outlier in that it only has the three footswitches. Technically, what CC71 is doing is emulating the PAGE < and > buttons, which is how you scroll between the different modes. So I think it’s just kind of how things have evolved.
  11. In my earlier comments, I forgot that these CC71 commands are for the Stomp only, not the Stomp XL. Because it has fewer footswitches, the Stomp has a few modes that the XL doesn’t have. The XL is really pretty much the same as the HX Effects right now. Like I said earlier, it would be nice if they add that Toggle option for Snapshot Mode in the XL. Based on Eric’s comments about it, I think there’s a good chance it will happen. But right now, there isn’t a way to switch from Stomp Mode to Snapshot Mode directly via MIDI. Apologies for the confusion.
  12. Oh, well, that changes things. In my defense, you said you had the Helix… There are really only three (four if you count the Helix Control) products with the Helix name - the Floor, LT and Rack. Everything else is under the HX moniker. But anyway, that changes things. Right now there’s no way to really do what you want to do. You could get a small MIDI controller to switch between Stomp and Snapshot Mode - something like the Disaster Area Designs MIDI Baby would work. I suspect that Line 6 is going to add the Toggle setting as an option for Snapshot Mode on the Stomp XL like they have in the POD Go. With that once you go to Snapshot Mode, it stays there and you can toggle back and forth between Preset and Snapshot Mode using the Mode footswitch.
  13. The Mode switch always toggles between Stomp and Preset Mode. But you have the option to change what’s displayed in Preset Mode by going to Global Settings>Footswitches>Preset Mode. If you set it to 8 Snapshots, it essentially becomes just like Snapshot Mode. It sounds like you may actually benefit from one of the split views available for Preset Mode, though. 4 snap/4 stomp let’s you see four snapshots and four stomp switches at the same time. That may give you all you need, it sounds like.
  14. The poly pitch blocks use just under 50% of the available DSP per processor path. Technically, the DSP could handle two, but Line 6 limits it to one instance because having two led to some stability issues. The HX Effects only has one processor path, so, yeah, you can only use one instance in a preset.
  15. This is because you’re global settings have changed through the update. Specifically, this behavior is controlled by the Snapshot Mode parameter under Global Settings>Switches. It’s set to Momentary now, and you want it set to Latching. The snapshot is loading, it’s just taking you back to the previous mode. The E just means your preset has changed from its saved state. Rather than manually loading your presets back, you should just do a Restore from Backup by going to File>Restore from Backup in HX Edit. This will restore your presets, IRs, Favorites, Model Defaults and Global Settings.

    HX Stomp

Yes, this is totally possible, and I’d say pretty typical. This basically how Stomp Mode works.
  17. This seems rather defeatist… Plenty of people are using Native with Reaper, myself included, with no issues. What operating system are you using? Have you opened up a support ticket? I’m sure that your issue can be resolved, but it’s going to take a little bit of effort… Frankly, I’m surprised you’d be so quick to just give up.
  18. Are you sure you're looking at the right software? For the 500X, you need HD500X Edit. I have HD500 Edit installed on my M1 Mac running Big Sur, and it seems to be working fine.
  19. The POD Go Wireless works fine with acoustics. The G10 transmitter, however, does have issues with some acoustic preamp systems. This is just a limitation of the hardware. I’m not sure why they didn’t ship the little right angle adapter with the PGW, but you can pick those up for like $3 from Amazon.
  20. Mine works as it should. That sounds like an issue specific to your unit.
  21. The HX Effects doesn’t any inputs that work with momentary switches. You can do this sort of thing easily with MIDI, though… This thing kind of does what you’re talking about: http://lividinstruments.com/products/guitar-wing/
  22. I was going to mention this earlier, but forgot. You’ll need to go to Global Settings>Switches/Pedals>EXP1 Position and EXP 2 Position and make sure they’re both set to Per Preset or Global. If they’re set to Per Snapshot, the value of the parameters controlled by the pedals will be saved per snapshot. So that could be why you’re experiencing weirdness.
  23. It is available in POD Go Edit as well. You just right click on the block, and it’s one of the options available in the menu that pops up.
  24. Yep… And setting the Snapshot Bypass parameter to Off like I explained above will allow you to do just that. It’s like the wah block simply isn’t part of the snapshots then. So if you have it on and switch to a different snapshot, the wah will remain on. It’s almost like have an independent pedal outside of the preset.
  25. It’s a parameter for each block. It determines whether the bypass state of that block is controlled by snapshots or not. It determines the behavior the block in just that preset.
