Not to ask the obvious question, but have you tried a different USB cable?
-
Did you install HX Edit? That is the preferred way to do the updates now. Also, when you install HX Edit, the applicable drivers will be installed. Without the drivers, the software won’t recognize the hardware.

You said it was a festival gig, so I’m assuming it was outdoors. If your LT was in the direct sun, the optical sensor for the onboard expression pedal could be affected, and if you have a volume block tied to the expression pedal, that can cause issues. I’ve actually seen this reported a number of times with outside events and the onboard pedal.

The one thing is you don’t need the driver. The driver is optional for Macs, and its only purpose is to open up different sampling rates for recording with a DAW. The Helix is otherwise a class compliant Core Audio device, so the Mac should recognize without any other driver installed. I’m not sure if the downloadable Mac driver works with Big Sur yet. So that might be causing some issues.

The Helix has a universal, auto-sensing internal power supply. It will operative at any voltage from 100 - 240V.

It most often comes down to what you’re listening to your modeler through and what your expectations are as far as what you should be hearing. Comparing an amp and pedals setup to a modeler setup is apples and oranges, but people still do it.

mac os catalina Update Monkey to 64 bit
phil_m replied to lunarplexus's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
I doubt they’ll ever make Monkey 64-bit compatible. For all intents and purposes, Line 6 Updater is Monkey 2.0, as all new products use it for updates. You don’t really need Monkey to use the UX2, fwiw. You can download the drivers and anything else you need directly from the Line 6 site. It’s my understanding that Line 6 still needs to update the drivers for Big Sur as of now, though.- 50 replies

Amp blocks are mono only, so there’s no way to do this apart from using two amp blocks. As far as the DSP limit, you can turn this off by going to settings and disabling hardware compatibility mode.
-
It’s not just holding down the footswitches. You have to hold down the footswitches while powering up. And on the Stomp XL, the factory reset procedure is holding down footswitches C&D while powering up.
-
That’s not how it works. The Helix is an ASIO audio interface on Windows, so it serves as your input and output device. You need to have speakers or headphones hooked directly to the Helix to hear audio from it.
-
You can create the backup from 2.81 with HX Edit 3.11. Then just do the update to 3.11.
-
There was an acoustic simulator effect added to the Helix in the 3.0 update. I personally think there are way more people who use loopers than those who would be interesting in programming custom harmonies for a smart harmony effect, but that’s kind of beside the point. If enough people requested it, I’m sure Line 6 would do something about it. In all my years on the forums, I’ve only seen it come up maybe half a dozen times.

I think they’re mainly there for people who want to use them in going into a real power amp. I’ve also seen some people use the preamp models instead of full models for clean tones. Also, the preamp models can somewhat similar to an amp-in-the-box pedal when used as a distortion pedal in front of a real amp.
-
Try doing a factory reset if you haven’t. Hold down footswitches C & D while powering up.
-
I believe you can re-insert the card after HX Edit loads as a workaround, if that helps. No one here is going to be able tell when or if it’s something that will be fixed.
-
Yes, you can either select the full amp block, which contains both the preamp and power amp modeling, or just the preamp block (which is only the preamp). There would be no reason to run a preamp block into an amp block.

Yeah, probably a bug... Opening a support ticket is the best way to get in front of the right people.

Yes, having it on means that that the bypass state will be saved with the snapshot. If you have the Snapshot Edits parameter set to Recall rather than Discard, it would be pretty easy to temporarily save a snapshot with the bypass state reversed. The EXP Position parameter under Global Settings>EXP Pedals also affects the interaction of the pedal position with the blocks. You’d want to have it set to per preset or global if it’s controlling a block with an on/off state you want to stay consistent within a preset.
-
If you only want the block’s bypass status to be controlled by the expression pedal and not by snapshots, just turn the Snapshot Bypass parameter off. That way you don’t risk accidentally having a snapshot control it’s bypass state.
-
I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying the issue is… Are you saying that the position along the sweep where the wah is turning on and off is changing? Are the Position and Wait parameters for the auto engage function set to the same values in all your presets?

The pitch effects aren't polyphonic, so if you're trying to play more than single note lines with them, you'll run into tracking issues, and you'll get those sort of artifacts.

Yes. The loops can be used as two independent mono loops or one stereo loop.

The best way to level your presets is using the Level parameter in the Output block. You can use the Channel Volume as well. I think the idea with these devices is that you make your own presets and level the volumes as you go… It not that you just scroll through the factory presets all the time.

I imagine that having new installations of Windows could affect that. But it’s a pretty simple thing for support to take care of for you.
