There never was an editor for the Duoverb. It's pretty much a wysiwyg amp. You can access a bunch more presets and wah, volume and tuner if you use the FBV Shortboard controller with it, but other than that, everything you can do with it is accessible from the front panel controls.

First off, I'm not official Line 6 support, so I'm afraid I can't tell you anything other than to go through the official support channels. Either open a ticket here: http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html or give them a call at 818-575-3600.

I'm not saying there aren't any issues still to be solved. All I'm saying is I think it's hard to discern how many of these issues are isolated and which are widespread and affect the whole platform. From my perspective, things seem to be pretty settled down for the most part, but there are still some cases where there are problems. It seem like it's in the tamping down random hot spots phase rather than trying to put out a forest fire stage. That's all. Not making excuses or dismissing anyone's experience. Let me put it this way? Is the HD series stable? It seems to be. I occasionally see people having freezes or start-up loops with it, though. Unfortunately, those sorts of things are always a possibility on devices that are running software. I think the issue is that there is literally an almost infinite permutation of keystrokes, knob twists, footswitch presses, etc. that people can do on these devices There's always a chance that some unique combination will expose some well-hidden bug.

Yes, you can configure the outputs on Helix on a patch by patch basis. It's very easy to do. You also have a ton of routing flexibility within individual patches
-
That's very weird... Do you have anything else connected to the Helix? Is it consistent across all patches? What happens if you just bring up an empty preset?

In a way, I feel like this question is somewhat of a red herring. All you're going to hear is anecdotal evidence from a people who answer. It's not exactly useless, but it's pretty close. Is OS X stable? Yes, by all accounts it's been one of the most stable operating systems made. My wife, however, has had all sorts of lock ups and issues with her Mac and using the Adobe Creative Suite software. It doesn't mean that the overall stability changes, really. It's just there's always going to be edge cases. Not discounting what anyone says regarding problems. The only thing I can say is if you're having lock up or freezes or other weirdness, the best thing you can do is open a support ticket and make Line 6 aware if it. Try to be as detailed as possible as to the recipe (if you can find one).

It may be more widespread than I think. I have no idea of knowing, really. There are 13 scribble strips on every Helix, though, so that's a lot of scribble strips out there. I'm sure there's always a potential of bad batches getting in the line. These little displays don't seem to be all that different than what the displays are on the M-series, and there have been occasional report of issues with them, it doesn't seem to be a huge issue with them. I'm sure Line 6 cares about these sort of things more than anyone else simply because this stuff affects their reputation. Every problem can be reported on the internet somewhere, and things that don't affect a ton of people can appear to. Personally, here's my anecdotal data regarding reliability of my Line 6 devices with the plunger style switches - I've owned the X3L, the HD500, two M13s, two M9s, and an M5. I've not had an issue with any of the switches on any of those devices. My first M13 is over 7 years old now (The reason I have two has nothing to do with reliability issue - one is a test unit, the other I bought).
-
I'm sure I'll be accused of defending Line 6, but, whatever. I've been called worse in my life. There are four people commenting here in regards to bad scribble strips. I'm sure the overall number is more than that, but it does not seem like a completely widespread issue. I'm not minimizing the issue at all, but these are by definition, isolated incidents. Of course it always sucks to have stuff not work. I can't deny that. I've had it myself. All I'm saying is that you're always taking a risk when buying any electronic item. I have never seen one electronic item with reviews online where someone hasn't had a bad experience. It's not my job to convince anyone to buy anything. I'm just saying that personally, it would take a lot more than this to dissuade me to cancel an order.

Well, as I noted earlier, I think this particular amp is one of the most DSP-intensive. The amount used varies quite a lot from amp to amp. I've certainly had dual amp setup using just one of the processors where I've had more than this. It really just depends on the certain amps and effects you're using. I'm not sure what distortion model he's using, but a few of those use more DSP than people might expect.
-
On "Now Playing" screen, you hit that little up arrow to the left of the tone name to add it to your favorites. I don't think there's a way to favorite tone if you just do a manual search for it, though.
-
Well, I think the Rectifier model in the Helix may be one of the more DSP-intensive models. The HD and HX models are just different, and I think this illustrates it. In your Helix patch, is there a reason why you have the cab block turned off in path 1A?
-
What device and OS are you guys using? On my iPhone 6S+, the app keeps me logged in most of the time.
-
Interesting. I haven't had any issue with recording with Helix's USB audio ever since well before the release candidate. I've been using Windows 10 most of the time. I use the Helix both for input and for monitoring, and I've not had any issues. I've even done re-amping and used multiple audio streams.
-
No audio clipping here. In my home studio, I have the Helix hooked up to two mixer channels via XLR, and I just keep the gain of those channels down at zero so I'm effectively bypassing the mixer's preamps. I could see, though, that it is possible to clip a mixer channel pretty easily.

Kemper recommends disabling phantom power when connecting to a mixer as well, for the record... From the Kemper manual:

Well, according to Fractal, "UltraRes technology achieves the resolution of long IRs (up to 170ms) without added CPU burden or storage requirements." So, Fractal is doing something with its proprietary format to make it so their ultra res files don't increase the DSP load. I have no idea what they do, but it's probably some sort of optimization that gets rid of unnecessary information in the IR. It's probably something similar to the optimization Line 6 does for its cabs. Also, you can run one amp with two 2048 files on the Helix - you just need to put one of the IR files in a path served by a different processor.
-
Well, the Helix and the Fractal AX8 are using the same chips, and the AX8 can run one of Fractal's ultra high res IRs. So I don't see why the Helix couldn't do something equivalent if Line 6 wanted to go down that road. I imagine that it would be the sort of thing where you'd effectively be using one chip only for amp and cab modeling and the other for effects, which is what you're always limited to on the AX8, btw. The Helix at least gives you the flexibility to allocate resources however you see fit.
-
Yep, you could do it. You can actually have up to 4 independent stereo paths through the Helix, so having three paths with mono inputs is a piece of cake. Will you actually be using all three instruments simultaneously?
-
Glad it worked for you in the end. Can you give the specs of your system? What OS are you running, and you do you have anything else attached to any of the USB ports? It would probably be helpful for Line 6 to know this sort of information. I think the thing that's difficult is that, like Leftzilla mentioned, there are tons of possible system configurations out there with any number of possible hardware or software conflicts coming into play. On my old laptop, for instance, I always had to disable the touchpad when I wanted to recorded via USB (not just with Line 6 hardware) because otherwise I would get clicks and pops in the recording. Sometimes getting stuff to play nice together is simply a matter of trial and error.

Helix Unboxing, Why I Bought It, and Its Size Compared to HD500X

No kidding... Also, what with those curtains? Floral patterns? That's so 2013... :P -
Hi, you'd be better off asking this question in the HD forum - here: http://line6.com/support/forum/18-pod-hd/ To answer your question, you don't exactly assign presets to footswitches. You can save presets to whatever preset slot you want, and each slot can be recalled by a certain footswitch in each bank.
-
Yeah, I think that's the expected behavior. Basically, when you're moving the effect, not the footswitch, and the custom label is tied to the footswitch. It would be nice, I suppose, if there were a way to lock the label of the footswitch so it didn't change if you changed the effects you have assigned to it.

Here's a little tune I recorded over the weekend. All guitars and bass are Helix. The guitars are all using a PArk 75 patch I made a while ago. https://soundcloud.com/phil-miller-20/park-75-jam-mix-2

Well, obviously there have been some people having issues with freezes or audio dropouts under certain circumstances, and it seems like most of those have been dealt with now. Some of these depends on very specific "recipes", so it could be that the majority of users just never experience these things. Personally, I haven't experienced anything like that since the 1.0 firmware. I would be confident playing live with my Helix.

On Firefox, you need to go to the "Tools" menu and select "Options". Under the "General" tab, there's a heading that says Downloads. Click the option that says, "Always ask me where to save files".
