What´s the difference?
phil_m replied to FCerha's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I have a JTV69US, and overall I feel like it feels and plays like an expensive instrument. I don't regret paying what I paid for it. It was set up perfectly out of the box, and it's the nicest playing guitar I own at the current time. I have a US Deluxe Strat and a US Strat Plus, and really, the JTV is pretty far beyond them in fit and finish. I was also able to get a 69 with a quarter sawn maple neck - I couldn't have gotten that with a Korean version. -
The HD500X has full MIDI implementation and would what you want. But you're correct, those other products don't. They are really targeted more at a demographic that probably doesn't care or even know the first thing about MIDI.

switching folders with DMC-2 Gen2 midi foot controller
phil_m replied to incubism's topic in M5 / M9 / M13
There is no MIDI command that enables you to switch folders. You can, however, immediately call up a scene from any folder by sending the PC# associated with that scene. -
$350 more... You have an odd definition of "a couple of dollars more".
-
Where do you have the volume set on your phone or tablet? It sounds like you might have it set low.
-
Well, you don't have to believe me, but I'm pretty sure what I wrote is true, The 500X doesn't have the capability to be a USB host device. It can't power another device via it's USB port. People have asked about doing similar things, like connecting USB thumbdrives, over the years, and that's the reason that won't work. The 500X doesn't have the capability to boot another device like. I don't think it's something that could be changed in a firmware update, either. Also, what Jandrio said is correct. There isn't enough bandwidth on the BT protocol for all the information in a 500X preset to be sent in a timely manner.
-
The 500X still offers a lot more in the way of signal chain flexibility. The Firehawk HD is really a continuation of the Amplifi concept with some HD models added in and some other ins and outs. There will be no doubt or confusion if/when Line 6 launches a new flagship model.
-
I would assume that adding BT or WiFi to the 500X would require some pretty extensive altering of the hardware. I fairly certain there's no way they could get ot to work by just plugging some of module into one of the existing communication ports.
-
The JTV guitars aren't going to be discontinued yet. Line 6 confirmed that on its Facebook page this morning, actually.
-
Already stated it would be dB and Hz.
-
First, the street price on the Firehawk FX is $449, not $500, but rest assured, L6 Link is alive and well. The Firehawk isn't really meant to be a successor to the HD line. It's more like it's cousin. Also, remember, this is only the beginning of 2015. Winter NAMM is one trade show.
-
It hasn't been released yet. Will probably drop sometime in March.
-
JTV isn't being discontinued as far as I know.
-
Well, it's been stated multiple times that the HD line will never load third party IRs. As far as a "shaper", isn't that what cab deep editing controls do?
-
Well, Digital Igloo did say that they would be willing to work with other luthiers, too. I think in the case of supplying the guts to a company perhaps they feel they can have more accountability over the process.
-
I think, well I know, Line 6 is concerned that if they offered an official transplant kit for just anyone to buy that there would be a good chance that people who don't know what they're doing would buy the kit, mess something up very badly, and then call them either blaming them or expecting them to fix their guitar for them. I think from a support perspective it would be a potential nightmare. I suppose they could try selling the kits with some sort of "no guarantee" label or something, but I don't think that would fly because of consumer protection laws in various countries. People have literally been asking for kits ever since the Variax was first introduced. It's been over ten years now, and I think Line 6 has let their decision on it be known at this point. They just don't think it's a worthwhile investment.

What happens with the XT and in POD Farm is that you're given a warning message if you try to load a tone that using stuff from model packs you don't own, and IIRC, I believe the tone is loaded with substituted items in those blocks. As far as how the licensing works, DI said they're still figuring it out. On the XT, the license for the model stays with the account of the purchase who bought them unless they give the license to someone else. There's a method to transfer the packs between different devices, in other words. I imagine they'll come up with something similar.

I've never heard of that game.. Haven't played video games in any meaningful way in over 20 years, though.
-
It's not untrue... :)
-
Have you tried a different cable between the expression pedal and the FBV?
-
In short, yes. The HD500X doesn't have any capabilities as a MIDI interface. The MIDI ports aren't seen by the drivers.
-
Why not just use the HD's USB for recording? I don't think you'd gain anything using the Focusrite.
-
There are 5 speakers not 10, and actually, micing the Amplifi with a single mic works pretty well in my experience. And yes, of course, if you do use a single mic you'll lose stereo, but for the vast majority of live situation stereo guitar isn't necessary or even desirable, imo.
-
Whenever you select a scene on the M9, it sends the PC# associated with that scene, so I think you'd be able to do what you're talking about.
-
Have you tried using the Mid-Focus EQ instead? It seems like it would do something very close to what you want the Q Filter to do.
