  1. I assumed that was the department that Digital Igloo oversees...
  2. There's all sorts of free software out there that will do it. I actually don't know how useful it is tied into the actual drivers. Seems like one of those things you'd change and then forget you've changed it.
  3. Prior to the 2.0 update, the Topology switch was just a "dumb" switch. After the update, though, it behaves as you're describing.

    Firmware 2.6

It is a model ported from the XT/X3 series. I believe it is the Variax Acoustic model. It's not an acoustic emulator.
  5. I have no idea what the percentage actually is, but if I were to venture a guess, I'd imagine that the number of HD users who also own a DT is under 20%... But, really, I have no way of knowing. It does seem like making the global eq available for at the master L/R should be doable. I would hope so at least. I can understand it not being there for the other output options. I don't really think global EQ would work too well for most of those scenarios anyway.
  6. Yeah, they weren't as clear as they could have been. It's going to be a week or two before the update and model packs are available for the non-X versions. If you actually purchased the model packs, you can return them for a refund.
  7. No, there's no way to import your XTL patches to the 500X. They are two completely different modeling platforms.
  8. I'm confused as to what you're saying hear regarding the drive knob. The actual position of the physical drive knob is irrelevant to the drive parameter in your preset (well, mostly - it the physical knob controls the virtual parameter, but the virtual parameter doesn't always reflect the position of the real knob). So where you have that knob physically set on the unit doesn't limit the amount of drive in any particular preset.
  9. Not trying to sell anything... I just think the best way to see if you like the models or not is to try them for yourself. I don't have any vested interest in you buying them or not buying them. I was just letting you know that the 30-day option was there.
  10. Well, you can try them for yourself, too, you know. There's a 30-day return period. So if you buy them and don't like them, just return them and get a refund.
  11. More or less. They are named the same, although, there are some differences between them. I have the Amplifi 150 and TT, and one thing I noticed immediately with the delays in the Amplifi compared to the delays in the XT and X3 is that on the Amplifi I could get a smooth self-oscillation like I could with the DL4. On the XT and X3 that was never possible. The classic way to get the "UFO landing" sounds with a delay pedal is to max the repeats and then mess with the time knob. On the DL4, this is really smooth. On the XT and X3, it just glitches out. On the Amplifi, it's really smooth. I assumed the POD Farm delays on the Firehawk are the same as on the Amplifi. Digital Igloo, the one Line 6 product manager who writes on the forums pretty frequently, said that the modeling engine in the Amplifi products is a tweaked version of POD Farm. So I assume any POD Farm stuff on Firehawk is the same tweaked version. Whew... a long answer for a simple question! :)
  12. Asking out of curiosity and not doubting you as I know you've actually seen the unit, but I was under the impression that they were using the HD moniker to set the M-series effects apart from the POD Farm ones. Have they actually "remastered" the M-series effects for the Firehawk? All the HD effect names seem to match what's in the M-series pedals and POD HD.
  13. Did you do the Global Settings Reset after you did the update? http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-hd/after-pod-hd500x500-flashre-flashupdate-man-r160
  14. Ooh, a musical gang... Very intimidating...
  15. You know, if you would have come here asking for help or advice, I'm sure plenty of people would have loved to at least try to help you out. Instead, your very first post on the forum was attacking a poster, calling his post a lie. Do you actually want people to try to help you, or is your mind made up that we're all deluded?
  16. It is possible to have comb filtering or phasing issues with a dual amp setup (just like it would be with two real amps in a studio), but it's certainly not impossible for it to sound good. I've heard some very good sounding dual tones.
  17. You can't tie parameters within an effect to a footswitch like that. You could have the FX loop return level controlled by one the expression pedals if you wanted to, I suppose.
  18. Did you have the JTV69 before the HD update? I could see you saying you couldn't notice the difference between the guitar models before the 2.0 update, but there was a pretty significant change in most models after that. To be honest, though, I even thought there was a significant difference in how JTV responded compared to the earlier Variaxes before the HD update.
  19. I don't post a lot of new threads in this forum, but I had an experience this weekend that made me realize the versatility of the HD500 in a new way. My church is going to be having a long Easter Vigil service the Saturday evening before Easter, and I'm playing music the whole through. It's a combination of drama and music, and the music varies a lot throughout the evening. So throughout the service I'm playing acoustic guitar, mandolin, an archtop jazzbox (which I want to sound more like an acoustic than an electric), and electric guitar. The church has a somewhat decent sound system, but there's a limited number of channels, so for all these instrument I'm limited to one channel. The other thing is that the monitor situation is no optimal. I'll be sharing a mix with a bunch of other musicians. So I ruled out going direct with my electric tones right away. It just never works out well when you don't have excellent monitor. The acoustic instruments are OK going direct. So faced with having to get these four instruments, each with very different output characteristics to work out with one channel I came up with the following solution. I created a preset each for the acoustic, mandolin and archtop using the Aux in for the input. I put the FX Loop block in these presets and I'm using the FX Send as the output, taking that to a direct box. The reason I'm doing this will be clear in the next paragraph. By using the Vintage Pre model, I was able to easily customize the signal chain so the output level from FX Send is roughly equal. The sound guy shouldn't have to adjust anything during the performance. For the electric, I'm using an amp, and I'm just going to use the HD500 for effects only. Since I'm using the FX Send for the output in my other tones, as long as I don't need the FX Loop block in these tones, it frees me up to use the HD500 in the normal way I would with an amp. I just have my guitar going into the guitar in and the 1/4" going to my amp. I guess my main reason in posting is just as reminder of the amazing flexibility of this stuff. I know I forget how powerful it is. Honestly, this is the first time I've really used the HD500 for my mandolin, and I'm wondering why I waited so long. It sounds great. I put a little delay and reverb on it, and I've never heard it sound better.
  20. It's the daisy chain power supply. In order to operate quietly, the ToneCore pedals need to have an isolated power supply. That means either using a standalone supply for the pedal or getting a power supply that has electrically isolated outputs - something like the Voodoo Lab PP2+. You can also buy the little inline isolators. For one pedal, that's probably the most inexpensive solution. But at $25 a piece, that would add up.
  21. 1. No, the Firehawk FX doesn't have a looper. 2. Yes, you can bypass the amp and cab block. More specifically, you can select "no amp" and "no cab" and that effectively bypasses the block.
  22. Have you seen this video? http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-hd/video-tutorial-connectivity-series-pt-1-jam-r38 The cable that came with the Variax is OK for programming patches, but you'll want to buy the actual VDI cable or equivalent for live use. The ethercon ends keep the RJ45 plugs from damaging the jacks on the guitar and HD500X.
  23. If you have the trails parameter turned on in the setup menu, that effects return stays on even when the effects loop block is bypassed. That why the noise is there even with the block off.
  24. Nope, the M13 uses the older PX-2g 9V AC adapter.
  25. Oddly enough, the M13 actually does have a power switch. I never turned mine off, though. When it was on my pedalboard, I just had it plugged into my board supply, so it came on with everything else.
