  1. It's FS7 & FS8, but yes, it's safe, and that's what I'd recommend doing. Just restore from backup again after doing the reset.
  2. Did you do a FS7 & FS8 reset after updating? It sounds like you probably should.
  3. Yeah, the reports of units truly being bricked from updates are greatly exaggerated. Over the years since the Helix has been out, I can probably count on one hand the number of units that were truly bricked after an update. The vast majority of time, things can be recovered one way or another. A lot of times people run into an issue they post here in a panic. They don't always follow up saying things were resolved.
  4. Did you restore from backup after doing the update? If not your Global Settings would have been lost. Go to Global Settings>Ins/Outs>Volume Knob Controls and see what that's set to. It sounds like it's not set to control whatever outputs you're using.
  5. Not sure what the point of this post is, but I his later video, Chris isn’t necessarily what I’d call happy with the Kemper...
  6. The trial version requires an active internet connection.
  7. Why not try going to 2.71 and perhaps creating a backup with that firmware and see what happens?
  8. Helix LT Firmware 2.81.1 contains a bug fix for the 1/4" outputs resetting to Instrument level upon power cycle bug. It is strongly recommended for all Helix LT users. CLICK HERE if your LT has already been updated to 2.80.0 or 2.81 firmware. CLICK HERE if your LT is running firmware 2.71.0 firmware or older.
  9. If you updated to 2.81 from any other firmware other than 2.80, the update will have reset your Global Settings. If you restored from a backup, those settings should have been restored. If you didn't they would be set to their defaults. Regarding your issue, it sounds like this is related to the MIDI PC Send setting under Global Settings>MIDI/Tempo. Go there make sure it's set to "Off". That will prevent the PC message that's associated with each Helix preset from being sent automatically.
  10. I'm not exactly sure what you're asking... The Helix has two SHARC ADSP-21469 chips . One chip serves paths 1A and 1B and the other serves paths 2A and 2B. The HX Effects and HX Stomp each have one SHARC ADSP-21469, so from a processing perspective, they have half the processing power of the Helix, Rack and a LT.
  11. I've probably updated my Helix, HX Effects and Stomp more than anyone on the forum, and I've never had any issue with those updates. Not saying that to shame anyone or put people who've had issues down. Stuff obviously can happen. I did have one issue with my Powercab Plus when updating once. The update failed and the Updater stopped recognizing my PC+ for a little bit. Eventually, though, it recognized it again and the update went through. As far as Line 6 caring, these forums aren't really set up to be support forums. There is no guarantee that a Line 6 employee is going to see these posts. In fact, I'd say people should probably assume they don't. People need to open support tickets and/or call support if they really want to contact Line 6. Otherwise, what they're going to get here is advice from other users. And, honestly, that's often enough to solve a lot of problems. But if people are stuck on something, they need to go the CS route.
  12. It sounds like you may have a connection not right if you have the output of the HX Effects connected to the input of the amp with the 4CM. You’d typically have the FX Send connected to the amp input. Do you have an FX Loop block in your HX Effects preset?
  13. I don't have that sort of issue at all. Even in Speaker Mode, there are plenty of highs with my Powercab. Some of the speakers models are darker than others, but they all sound pretty realistic to me. I've actually done comparisons with the Powercab beside a real combo amp, and it comes very close. Do you have the cab modeling turned off in your Helix preset?
  14. You can't change the travel of the expression pedal, in the sense that it's only active over a certain range of the sweep. You can, however, adjust the min and max for whatever parameter(s) it's controlling. The min and max settings show up in the Controller Assign screen on the hardware. In HX Edit, you just go to the Controller/Bypass Assign tab and select the parameter you want to adjust and set the min and max values there.
  15. I would try setting the Helix's loop to line level. That would give you some more headroom.
  16. When you say you got a "bang and flash", do you mean you saw an actual electrical arc? Was there smoke? I mean, it's certainly possible the cable failed, but if there was arcing involved, that sounds like something more.
  17. Have you opened up a support ticket? I’ve seen a few reports of people having issues with snapshots, but it doesn’t seem to be widespread. It’s the sort of issue where having as many firsthand reports as possible will help the team a lot.
  18. That's not worded as clearly as it could be. You don't have to wait six months to use the Native discount associated with your hardware. It's just that if you return your hardware in that six month period, you will either have to pay for a full Native license or give it up altogether. What they are trying to prevent is people buying the hardware, using the Native discount, and then returning the hardware to the retailer. So if you get rid of the hardware within that 180 day window you disqualify yourself from the promotion.
  19. Do you have Helix FX loop set to instrument or line level?
  20. The latest Helix firmware update allows you to control everything in the Powercab remotely via L6 Link now. It’s well worth the cost of a cable. You don’t have to buy the Line 6 version. Any AES/EBU cable will work.
  21. Do you have effects block active? If so, what happens if you bypass them all (except the FX loop block)?
  22. It's come up before which is why they added the option to reverse it in the Global Settings in the 2.80 update. That being said, in virtually every multi-FX pedal out there, hitting the up arrow takes you to the next higher preset or bank or whatever. The way it was originally and is by default is pretty much the industry standard.
  23. By default the "^" takes you to the next preset, bank or snapshot. The "v" takes you to the previous one. You can invert those functions in the Global Settings now, but the direction of the graphical arrows on the scribble strips remains the same.
  24. Have you tried to doing a factory reset? If you have a backup that you can use, that's what I'd suggest.
