  1. Well remembered, that would be the Gibson Grabber, late 1973. Even earlier example from Framus, http://www.tuneyoursound.com/collection/framus-hollywood-5128-1962
  2. Only if it's a knucklehead 😎 (Cheap humour, cheap sunglasses)
  3. As I recall, way back in the early seventies, Keef Richards used a single pickup guitar for a while. The novelty was that the single pickup was on some sort of rail that allowed it to slide to various points on the body between neck and bridge positions. I think it was designed/made by Dan Armstrong (Ampeg?) but never really caught on. Looked a bit like an LP Junior. Additional info: Dan Armstrong, Model 341 "London Woody", 1974 http://www.tuneyoursound.com/collection/dan-armstrong-model-341-london-woody-1974 Fast forward to present day... There is a guy on Kickstarter trying to get his slider idea going - Check him out. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1165874210/pole-position-sliding-pickup-guitar Oh, yeah. Didn't Westone also do something similar with a bass guitar?
  4. Takes one to know one. Simply by following that logic, it means you have to be useless for me to be useless, therefore - if you're not useless, that proves I'm not useless. And since "it takes one to know one" is a scientific fact, you can't deny it. I win! And I'm not angry. Unless you're angry too, because it takes one to know one, so you would have to be angry yourself to know if I'm angry. I don't exactly know what your problem is called, but I would guess it's difficult to pronounce and has it's own dedicated support group.
  5. Snapshots are the solution to your problem - see pages 34 to 39 of the owners manual for full explanation. http://line6.com/data/6/0a06439c975d5787c3e351aa0/application/pdf/Helix%202.0%20Owners%20Manual%20-%20Rev%20D%20-%20English%20.pdf#page34
  6. Quote: I've had three wives and three guitars. I still play the guitars. Andres Segovia Have fun!
  7. Well, another one of those should I buy? Really only you can decide that but there is a whole bunch of people on here who are more than happy to own an Helix, and it keeps getting better - new stuff already in the pipeline. As for getting the tones of U2 or Pink Floyd from the Helix, may I suggest you check out the various patch offerings available from Scott of the Helix channel, Glen DeLaune and Fremen who all contribute to this forum. If their creations don't tempt you to buy a Helix then I don' t know what will. Good luck!

    DAW latency

This crops up quite a lot on here, see this thread: http://line6.com/support/topic/20823-helix-usb-interface-latency-problems/ The general concensus is don't use your DAW's software monitor system, use the Helix hardware. Even very low buffer sizes can produce a latency of about 5milliseconds - which shouldn't be a problem BUT it seems it is. There are other discussions about this issue on here - have a trawl through some of the threads. Plus here's a video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1or7E9h7mEo
  9. Yep - also managed passable bass tones with my old Variax 600 model, although not tried yet with the JTV59, but it should be feasible. Plus I've still got my Variax Acoustic 300 Nylon from back in 2007 which has Spanish/Classical crossover nylon tones with a built in reverb system. Used as an extra studio tool. Tech spec etc here: http://uk.line6.com/legacy/variaxacoustic300nylon/
  10. Wow! If only it could hit the streets for Mardi Gras then it really would be - Laissez les bons temps rouler! Thanks for all your efforts and keep up the great work guys.
  11. Hi JimiRox, Just for the hell of it, here's a starting point for you to get a Robin Trower style tone - I did this a the basis for jamming along to "Into Dust" from the "Go My Way" album of 2000. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/2031305/ It was put together quite quickly but it should get you in the ball park to start experimenting and refine the thing to suit your set up. I use it with my Variax set on Spank - obviously. Oh, yeah I included a Eb semitone drop and a pseudo "WhaFull" cocked wha effect on a foot switch for those that want that simple trick.
  12. And, it seems, plenty who swear at 'em - ouch! 😉 Each to their own. 😜
  13. Ha ha ha. Damn predictive text on this iPad - should be Gaffer tape as in https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaffer_tape Don't keep it in your gig bag - give it to the drummer! It could keep him quiet for hours.
  14. This is a really helpful piece of advice from someone who uses Helix rack unit 😉 Gaffs tape? 😎
  15. As I recall this has been discussed a while ago - check here: http://line6.com/support/topic/22087-heavy-duty-music-stand-≈-helix-stand/#entry169128 Since then I have upgraded from using the old snare drum stand to something a little more sturdy, but I can't find pic at the moment. I will see if I can find a link to the supplier and post that. EDIT OK here ya go check this: http://picclick.co.uk/Vonyx-Universal-Adjustable-Laptop-Notebook-Projector-Mixer-DJ-121392408294.html Vonyx Universal Adjustable Laptop Notebook Projector Mixer DJ Decks Stand
  16. Point taken, but rather than warming up the soldering iron, I was thinking more along the lines of using a dedicated splitter box like the Morley ABY unit. Fender also have a similar product. For the serious user how about the JD7 Radial Engineering box of tricks. I think this is what they are designed to do.
  17. Why bother having the guitar routed via Helix at all. Split the signal to the Kemper and Helix directly as two separate feeds. I don't understand what you want to achieve?
  18. Much as I hate to resurrect this thread one more time - but
  19. Not sure, but my guess would be that the signal would enter the digital domain as soon as it enters the Helix processing path. Helix is just a huge specialised computer, so it's dealing with a bunch of ones and zeros.
  20. Hi Rob, I got my Helix back in November 2015, at which point it replaced my old faithful Focusrite Safire for all audio recording and MIDI functions. Needless to say the Focusrite is now officially retired and gathering dust in the corner. There you have it - for a small studio, it does the job perfectly. I think the only time you may require any other interface is if you needed lots of simultaneous in/outputs.
  21. Way cool - but, are they "Happy Together"?
  22. Excellent! That reminds me of the first time I heard of Gordon being referred to as "Mr Sting" by these surreal guys: Don't think this could ever be replicated, no matter what you were using.
