  1. Hi I_sap120394, You're not the first, and certainly won't be the last to ask this question. As usual it 's a fairly opened ended query, because you state that you are considering using studio monitors to use with Helix Native and your Helix LT, but you don't expand on that. It would be a big help to know what sort of price range and size (4'' to10"?) you are able to look at. Furthermore, would you need to purchase powered monitors or do you already have amplification for you studio/DAW. I'm asking that because you say you already upload stuff to YouTube occasionally so, you must be using something already - or is that just using headphones? The thing is, on this forum everyone will have a different opinion and only you can decide. Just have a search through here and see what you turn up about suggestions for monitors, and headphones. A hundred different answers, and it's even more complex when you check the Helix groups on FarceBook and TGP. It's can of worms so get ready for the recommendations. Here's a starting point: Under $200 Monitors Good luck.
  2. Hi ckk0003, Helix Floor, Helix Rack, Helix LT and Helix Native file type suffix is .hlx HX Effects file type suffix is .l6t (like the old POD files) The files are not compatible, They have separate sections on custom tone to avoid this confusion. Page 14 HX Effects Owner’s Manual: NOTE: HX Effects-exported preset files are not able to be imported and used with Helix family devices (Helix Floor, Helix Rack and Helix LT) nor with the Helix Native plug-in software. Likewise, preset and setlist files exported from Helix family devices or Helix Native plug-in are not able to be imported and used on HX Effects devices. There is a whole chunk of info about file compatibility in the HX Edit Pilot’s Guide - see page 3 Click above link or find it under HX Edit prefs - question mark icon on top right. Hope this makes sense.
  3. Hi p8guitar, The information given above by “silverhead” is correct, but as you appear to have inadvertently downloaded the wrong software for your PC, may I suggest that you do a completely fresh download from the Line 6 site. Firstly, using your currently installed version of HX Edit - make a backup of the stuff from your Helix. Now, from the Line 6 downloads page, you should select HX Edit under the All Software tab and then whatever version of Windows you are using from All OS on the dropdown menus. This will take you to the correct download page. This is the only thing you need to download. When you install HX Edit it will also install the latest Line6 Updater v1.14 and any other drivers etc., that you may need. After the new HX Edit software has been installed, reboot your computer. Doing a clean install should clear any glitches that were linking to any old versions of the software. When you’ve done this, ensure HX Edit is shutdown, then launch the new Line 6 Updater v1.14, click the about button to check the details. If all your connections are good the Updater should see your Helix. You can now proceed with the firmware upgrade, over your internet connection. Do not disconnect or turn off the power to your Helix during this process. When completed your Helix will reboot and rebuild the presets, then you are good to go, no hardware reset is required. Hope this helps.
  4. Hi, The best place to start is to follow the advice given above, from “Digital Igloo”, who suggests reading about the subject in the owner’s manual. Page 28 Helix Owner’s Manual Failing that, Jon from SDS posted a video guide in this forum way back in Feb 2017. Follow these examples and you can’t go wrong. SDS - Beginners Guide Video Hope this helps!
  5. Hi nateweeks83, If you want to upload a patch here, you will need to click on the word "Quote" under this reply to you. It will open a response section were you can type your reply. Also there is a symbol of a paperclip and Drag files here to attach, or choose files... That is where you can upload you sample file. I will attach an example here to show you it works.
  6. Hi, roscoo67, You can go straight to version 2.60. Instructions for "How to" were created by phil_m (above), and you can find them right here.
  7. Hi coaltrain, Here we go again - one more time, from the top!
  8. When Helix Native first became available quite a few people had problems with logging in. I know I had enough issues, after buying the full version it still only functioned in demo mode. Very annoying and strange, but fixed it pretty quickly. I thought all those issues had been resolved, but apparently not! I would suggest raising a ticket to make Line 6 aware there are still issues - Line 6 staff rarely read the stuff posted here, and it may have been overlooked. Meanwhile, because you can obviously log in to your account to be able to post here, use those exact details in Native. Also, check that you don’t have anything blocking the communication between Native and the outside world - firewall, anti virus software etc. Note: You didn’t mention what platform and DAW you are using. That could be a help in figuring out where the problem lies. Hope this helps.
  9. O.K. Maybe I misconstrued the object of that link, and like “crusinon2”, I also have several presets similar to the one shown. What had thrown me off track was your first comment at the top of this page regarding the Multi input. You seemed concerned that using Multi would be a bad thing to do! What could possibly happen? Helix is designed to accept a variety of input sources - it’s not likely to get damaged, or that option would not even be there. The easiest way to check out what you were getting confused about would be to put the input on Multi and connect the VDI to a Variax with pickups. Oh, what a surprise - it works just fine - no problem.
  10. ^^^ THIS! THIS! THIS! It's obvious from that screenshot that there are 2 paths, one plain Variax and one Variax Mags. Nowhere does that illustrate a single Multi Input would have the capability to split regular Variax and Mag pickups.
  11. Hi SOLIBASS, You will probably have a better chance of someone giving you an answer to your problem if you put your question in the digital wireless section of the forums: https://line6.com/support/forum/48-relay-digital-wireless/ Your question is more than likely to be overlooked here, especially when tagged on to the end of thread about updating a Helix multi fx box. Try posting to the link above - hope this helps.
  12. Hi thawk51, You probably will not find an answer in this section of the Line 6 Forums (Helix users), but someone else asked the same thing in this area: https://line6.com/support/topic/34686-ux2-sound-stopped-working/?tab=comments#comment-262185 Although I didn't see any replies there. It may be an issue with the drivers because I also saw comments here, regarding UX2 devices. https://line6.com/support/topic/34424-line-6-driver-fatal-still/?tab=comments#comment-260716 Hopefully, someone there may have a solution. Also, there is a big black blob, containing a white circle and question mark, in the lower right hand corner of the screen. Click on it and it's a gateway to more help options. Hope this is some help.

    First patch

Yep, about 2 minutes 20 seconds in, the guy is shown adding an EQ block to the end of the chain. He then goes on to show the assigning of that particular block to FS11. I only had had a quick look at the video, but decided that it was easier than me having to punch in all the instructions on this iPad. A picture being worth a thousand words - and a damn sight quicker than typing with a stylus!

    First patch

Hi Jim, This may be some help.
  15. Hi, First up - I cannot understand why you have downloaded HXEdit v1.13? I’m not even sure where you have downloaded that software from, because the oldest version on the OSX software page is HXEdit v 2.51. You really should be installing the latest update 2.60 “The Spring Cleaning Update”. This is stated to be compatible with: Mac OS X, Mac OS Yosemite, Mac OS El Capitan, Mac OS Sierra, Mac OS High Sierra. Suggest that you go here and follow the instructions about how to update HX Effects: https://line6.com/support/topic/34393-helixhx-effects-firmware-update-instructions-please-read-before-posting-a-new-thread/ Hope this helps - if not, click on the the big black dot with a white question mark at the bottom right of the screen. That is the official help button and has links to hardware reset, Firmware installation procedures, plus HX Effects FAQs.
  16. Hi scallybert, I don't really clearly understand what you mean by "multiple versions" If you mean that when using Helix Native in your DAW can you use it on several different tracks, all with different amps and effects, within one song - then yes! This is usually referred to as multiple "instances" of the plug-in, rather than versions. Realistically you will only be limited by the amount of memory available on your computer, as that is what Native is working in top of. I guess this may be what you mean. If it is, then the answer is yes! Pile them on until your computer collapses under the strain - go for it! Oops! Just re-read your post and spotted that you actually mean - is it possible to have version 2.60 and v2.53 installed simultaneously. Well I have not tried that, and I don't see why not , although you could get screw ups between them. You could even have one version on one desktop computer and another on a laptop for the sake of comparison between patches.
  17. Hi taylorbeats, Not exactly run into this as an issue, but curiously enough I was looking at my Line 6 Authorisation details only a couple of hours back. It seems that at the moment my status shows: NOTE: To authorize your computer or Line 6 Hardware, you must run the Line 6 License Manager. You currently are using 4 out of 5 active devices. You currently are using 5 out of 11 lifetime devices This relates to 2 current computers running Helix Native, a POD HD500 and a PODxt Live (both maxed out on POD Farm). The 5th item is an old iMac that I de-authorised four years ago, wiped and passed on to a friends children. It appears that the term "lifetime" is important here, as even when de-authorised it is still counted as a device. That's why I'm using 5 only got another 6 chances. Maybe your "several laptops over the years" has pushed you over the limit. Furthermore, I've no idea what you would have to do to have your limit "reset", or even if that's possible. In this day and age, when technology is rapidly changing, putting a limit on authorisation seems very restrictive. Check to see if you have gone past the 11 count and please advise what happens next. Regards
  18. Hi Bill, Here’s a link to the Helix Native Sale Page: https://shop.line6.com/software/helix-native.html From the listing on there, it mentions upgrades from POD Farm or POD Farm Platinum. Guess it depends what you have with your Tone Port.
  19. Helix Native is free to try - download it and give it a try, you have nothing to loose. As “soundog” notes above, you will have a better idea of how it functions with your set up. Note: If aardvarks were people, they would be the first entry in the phone book!

    SlideRIG

Re: Little Feat - True, and to think that most folks think that superb tone was all due to some strange magic from LG using a spark plug socket as a slide. As for Harvey Mandel, well, that took me right back, I had almost forgotten about him. Got to listen to that stuff again!
  21. Bumping it right back at ya! It's happening right now 30% off! Use the code on the page to get the discount. https://shop.line6.com/software/helix-native.html Have fun!
  22. Hi ReyGlean, These issues seem to occur with every Firmware update, and in anticipation of the cry for assistance, a special thread was created here at the top of this forum. You can find it here: Please read through all the comments and then follow the instruction supplied in this thread and you should be up and running very quickly. Also, the very considerate people of Line 6 have supplied assistance on all the pages in the forum. In the bottom right hand corner your browser there is a large black dot which surrounds a question mark within a white circle. Click on the icon and it will reveal a Help Centre pop up. In there there is an item named "HX Effects FAQ". Select that and you will be taken to a page where you can select tutorial videos. The one about installing Firmware is the second one down. Hope this is some help.
  23. That’s good to know, have fun!
  24. Hi, AFAIK, this is usually a consequence of a mismatch between the version of the firmware in your Helix and the version number of your HX Edit software. It’s sometimes happens if you have a shortcut to a previous copy of HX Edit on your computer and you are mistakenly opening that one. Please check both are on v.2.60, it’s easily missed. If it’s an old copy - delete it. If that is not the issue, then are the IR’s commercial ones that you have used previously, or new (freebie) ones picked up from the internet? It would help to know. Hope this may help.
