Hi, When weird and unexpected stuff happens - try a factory reset - and if that doesn’t clear the bug, try a reinstall of the latest firmware. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, I haven’t messed around with MG2 for quite some time, but IIRC it can run as a standalone app and it is also a host for other plug-in fx. The thing that is causing me to get side tracked here, is you want to use USB to hook up your iPhone to the HX Stomp XL. Maybe not necessary - use a guitar cable instead. I have an iPad that I can use for putting down ideas to use later in the studio, but beside the ACK connector I also have a mucho cheapo iRig2 plug that allows my to get the guitar into GarageBand, or AmpliTube , or whatever else. Interface: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irig2/ Grab yourself something like that and you can simply stick your guitar into the Left Input of the Stomp and take a 1/4” cable from the iRig to the Right Input on the Stomp. After that you could then process each instrument separately or all together. See video below for ideas. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hmm… AFAIK, It can’t be achieved using the Stomp XL in a live situation. As I commented previously, you could use the re-amping option by recording the MIDI Guitar 2 output (into GarageBand) and the audio run back through the XL on USB 5&6. The Aux/Return input will only handle audio coming in on the 1/4” jacks, no option for USB. If you had a full Helix unit you have the advantage of the second DSP chip which could handle the signal from the return from the MIDI Guitar 2 on paths 2A and 2B. Hope this help/makes sense. EDIT: You could try using MIDI Guitar 2 as a GarageBand instrument plug in and use some of the time based effects plug-ins in GB and run that back through the XL to whatever you are monitoring on. Just an idea. :-)

I know exactly what you mean. Told you it was getting really weird in here. Jeez, whatever next?

Hi, again, Just so you know - I’m not blowing smoke up yer - I have many better things to do, but here ya go - From the Line 6 Firmware Update Release Notes v3.0 IMPORTANT! In the unlikely event that your update fails, please follow the steps below: Unplug the USB cable from both the back of your Helix and the computer. Turn your Helix/HX device off and on. Reconnect the USB cable to your Helix/HX device and the computer. Download, install, and launch the latest version of Line 6 Updater. In a failure state, the device will not connect to HX Edit. Line 6 Updater for macOS: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=9831 Line 6 Updater for Windows: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=9832 Select your device and try updating to the latest firmware again. If the device does not show up in Line 6 Updater after these steps, try a different USB cable and/or USB port. If it still doesn't show up, try a different computer. link: More? What you have there is the v.3.15 Firmware bundle file (.hxf) and your computer doesn’t know how to handle it. Simply download it because the Line 6 Updater v.1.26 does know what it is. You also need to download the v.3.15 HX Edit Installer.exe file for all of this to work correctly. It is all listed in the instructions above. Oh, look - here’s a video of a kid doing this routine with the v.3.11 firmware, the only difference here is he is still connected to the internet, which slows things down and can cause problems if you have a flakey internet connection. Good luck, as I have just spotted that you have the dreaded red :0 on the screen which IIRC may indicate hardware failure.

Hi, I keep saying that I will stop doing this, but… let’s give this one more shot - Recover from failed update procedures v.3.15 First - remove all prior installations of Line 6 HX Edit - on a Mac ensure there are no aliases pointing back to an earlier version. Now go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "- Choose Hardware -" select Helix, then under "- Choose Software -" select HX Edit, now select your PC/Mac OS from under the "- Choose OS -" tab, then click “Go”. From the next page you can select HX Edit 3.15 for your Helix LT, repeat the download procedure for the Firmware v.3.15 Flash Memory, and the Line 6 Updater version 1.25. Download all these items to your computer and note where they are. Unplug the USB cable from both your computer and the Helix, then turn the Helix off and then on again while holding down Foot Switches 6&12 while turning the power on. This will put your Helix into “Safe Boot” mode, at this point you may see a black, or error screen, but just keep going. Ensure that HX Edit is closed and reconnect you Helix to your computer with a known good USB cable - do not use a hub, some front USB ports on PCs act like a hub, so use one of the ports on the back. Ensure you are disconnected from the internet, also Shut down all Line 6 software or any programs that use audio, like DAWs, iTunes, Spotify, video games, etc. If your computer's sleep timer is set relatively short, disable it, as the update can fail if your computer goes to sleep. Make sure external devices are not currently sending MIDI to Helix/HX. If you're unsure, unplug Helix/HX's MIDI IN port. Now launch the Updater Utility that you downloaded earlier, and then select "Offline Mode". Your Helix and current firmware version should now show up in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - click “Choose File”, point it at the Flash Memory file you downloaded and let it get on with the update. If you are updating from a firmware version prior to v.2.80 the installation may appear to happen twice - this is normal as the Core operating system is being modified. When it completes, you need to perform a factory reset on your Helix, then you can install the new HX Edit v.3.15 software, perform a restore from backup using the file you created before starting the failed update, and you should be good to go. Please note: After you complete the restore from back up, you will notice that the next time you restart the hardware, it will run the “Rebuilding Presets” routine. This is perfectly normal as it ensures that all you older presets are optimised for use in the new firmware. Also, any time you install a preset created with an earlier version of the firmware (e.g. a preset downloaded from CustomTone, etc.), the Rebuilding Presets function will run again after the next restart - this is an expected housekeeping routine for the unit. No guarantees are given or implied, you do this at your own risk. If it doesn’t work, raise a ticket with Customer Support - you may have a hardware issue that cannot be resolved by anyone in this user forum. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, If your guitar is connected to the HX Stomp XL, the audio signal is sent to the iPhone (Apple Camera Kit) over USB 1&2. The signal passes into MIDI Guitar 2 and then back out again to the XL over USB 1&2 and so it cannot be processed by the XL’s internal FX. You would need the audio out from MIDI Guitar 2 to return to the HXSXL on another USB Channel and through a signal chain with effects set to respond to that input. Much the same technique as re-amping, which accepts USB 5&6 to process through the onboard amps and effects. IFAIK, this isn’t possible in the way you are thinking it could be. Check the Owner’s Manual pages 61 - 62 regarding USB audio. Hope this helps/makes sense

Hi, This guy has a Helix Rack - so in Rev E (latest English version) it has “Choosing an Output” on pages 17 and 18. I’m actually slightly amazed that he eventually took time to look. In a reply to one of this guys earlier posts, I did tell you to “strap in, it’s gonna be a long ride”. I lost count of how many times you suggested he should RTM. I’m the one who originally thought he was trolling us with the calibre (see what I did there) of some of the stuff he asks. It’s totally bizarre, and I’m half expecting the “can Helix do the Andy Summers Massage in a Brothel” ‘thing once more. This place gets more and more weird, and I’m getting too old for this madness.

Watch this one! Also see page 22 of the Helix Rack Owner’s Manual - there is a picture! Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Previous reports of this happening seemed to indicate an error on the server side - see link Maybe worth raising a ticket with Customer Support to make them aware the issue. Hope tis helps/makes sense.

Hallo nochmal - Wenn Sie eine SD-Karte in Ihren Laptop eingelegt haben, entfernen Sie sie und dann sollte HX Edit wie erwartet funktionieren. Hoffe, das hilft / macht Sinn. Hello again - If you have an SD card in your laptop, remove it and then HX Edit should work as expected. Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Oh, no - the return of the dreaded “SD Card” causing HX Edit failing to open. There were stacks of these incidents a while back. It didn’t come to mind initially, because a lot of the older threads included HX Native also failing to launch, and actually causing Windows to crash. That was not immediately apparent in these posts. I should have spotted that earlier. Oh, hum! Looks like you found the fix now though.

Godverdomme, nee. Ik ben Engels, maar mijn beste vriendin heeft meer dan tien jaar in Rotterdam gewoond. Ik bezocht hem heel vaak. ;-)

Hi, Just to be perfectly clear about this situation - the file which you downloaded file is named "HX Edit v3.15 Installer.exe". The reason I ask is because in the title of this thread it states "Line 6 Edit öffnet nicht", which in English reads, "Line 6 Edit does not open". Thats an entirely different application, and was trying to make that point to the OP, by quoting from the manual in bold text - ‘HX Edit’ Software. It could be a very easy mistake to make as they are both close tougher in the software listings. When you download the HX Edit software it runs a checksum procedure to ensure that the installer is not corrupted during the transfer. If it downloaded, and the installer ran, then the software should be installed correctly - unless of course you have inadvertently installed "Line 6 Edit" which is for the PODxt, Flextone and Vetta range of products. I would imagine, if this was a sudden spate of HX Edit software failing to open on Windows machines, then the interwebs would be alive with complaints. Hope this helps/makes sense

Hi, We all live in hope of Line 6 grabbing all the possible firmware modifications out of thin air, although they cannot implement things they are not aware of. It’s a little late for 3.2 as it’s almost about to go into Beta, don’t hold your breath. Line 6 staff do not monitor these forums, and very rarely do they visit, so you need to sign up to IdeaScale which you can find here: https://line6.ideascale.com/c/home Once you've signed up and are in there, find the Helix/HX section from the menu at the top of the page, then you can post your ideas among the other 5,500 plus requests, but it is the only place where it might get picked up. Please Note: before submitting your ideas, search through all the other requests to ensure you are not duplicating ones that may already be in there. If you don't check, then you will only succeed in watering down the votes the item may already have accumulated. Once you have added to the IdeaScale site, you can post here, to the "sticky" thread at the top of the main forum page to let other users know and to encourage them to upvote your idea. Link: Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Glad to know that you can finally now hear your Helix LT at home, although I don’t think it should be necessary to buy another audio interface. Check the user manual for your Focusrite Scarlett 6i6, it has extra inputs on the rear panel. In fact there is a picture on page 11 which shows a setting for using 2 vocal mics and a stereo synth simultaneously. Use your HX LT in the same way - glorious stereo. Link: https://fael-downloads-prod.focusrite.com/customer/prod/downloads/Scarlett 6i6 2nd Gen User Guide v1.1 English - EN.pdf I would also recommend that you investigate further all the possibilities of using the USB audio out from your Helix. It is an 8 channel USB audio interface. I have used my Helix floor almost everyday as my main interface for 7 years without any issues. I can hear the playback from Logic, YouTube, iTunes etc. through my Tannoy monitors, and the Mac system beeps and pings through the built in speakers on my iMac. Explore the Audio MIDI setup some more. Also you didn’t mention how you are connecting the Helix USB to your MB Air. I had to buy an extra device to hook up any peripheral devices, USB, HDMI etc., as there are only two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports available. Anyhow, it’s good to know that you are “up and running” Tot ziens.
-
Hi, O.K. - Quick solution. You’re not using a DAW, this should work. Take the left and right 1/4” outputs from your Helix LT into the 2 jack inputs on your Scarlett as the way to get the audio into your MacBook Air. You said that the Mac can communicate with the LT over USB to use HX Edit for librarian, editing and updates. I have recently bought a MacBook Air M1 for my wife, but haven’t really investigated how the sound system works. I have just booted it up and checked and the Audio-MIDI Utility is still included in the OS. I don’t understand why you are using a third party utility (SoundSource) to handle the audio? It may be more trouble than it is worth. You should be able to set your MB Air to receive stereo audio from your Helix LT on USB 1&2 and send the audio back out through your Scarlett to your monitors by simply configuring the settings in the Mac Audio-MIDI Utility. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: I just spotted this comment - if you cannot hear your Helix LT audio output over the USB, ensure that the final output is set to “Multi” See the Helix LT 3.0 Owner’s Manual for full details about various output configuration and Audio over USB. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f18374611d5dffd3a45/application/pdf/Helix LT 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev D - English .pdf

Hi, I have my Helix hooked up to my iMac running Logic via USB. My monitors are connected to the Helix on XLR. I can record, re-amp, jam along to YouTube, iTunes or whatever, with no issues. I used the Mac Audio/MIDI utility to set up originally, and if I need to I can create an ‘aggregate device’ to use another audio interface to expand the options available. You need to configure your SoundSource app to use both the Helix and your Focusrite as audio interfaces for audio in and out. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Die aktuelle Version ist 3.15 Hi, Once again you don't make things very clear. You must download HX Edit from the link in the menu at the top of this page. The version of your firmware in your hardware device and the version of the editor must match. The current version is 3.15

Not much information to work with here. You installed what Editor, for what product, on what type of computer? From the Owner's manual: HX Edit Application Be sure to grab the free HX Edit application for Mac and PC—available for download at line6.com/software. HX Edit is a full-featured editor and preset & IR librarian, and allows you to easily create & restore full Helix device backups, and update your device to the latest firmware (also see the next section). You can connect more than one Helix and/or HX device, and HX Edit will display an individual application window for each. Hope this helps/makes sense

Apologies for the late response. I’m unable to help any further as you are a PC user and it’s not my territory. The best way to proceed now is to contact Customer Support for assistance. -

I’m not sure what you are trying to infer with that comment, but right from the start my only objective was trying to assist you with this issue, as previously stated in earlier replies. I do not work for Line 6, I’m just a long time user of their products, along with many others in here. I do not require proof of others with USB ground loop problems, but checking through those posts it seems that many have found solutions to the issue. Without checking the entire wiring system in your home, nobody can possibly pin down exactly what is causing this in your case. Furthermore, looking at some of your replies, you seem to be very defensive, as if you are not being helped, but been attacked by the replies posted from users. Example: “Just want to say I'm not trying to get anyone's nose in a joint”, and “people can often take things on them too personally if someone casts even a slight shadow on their beloved thing”. In this particular instance, I think that it is you who seems to be taking things too personally. I have previously suggested that you take your Stomp to your friends house, to see if the problem persists, or return it to the store you bought it from and have it replaced if there is a genuine fault. If you don’t want to help yourself, then there is nothing more that I can do. Happy trails. -
Hi, Steve Sterlacci has this video covering this subject. or check out this thread from way back before the Stomp. Hope this help/makes sense.
