  1. I was an art student in 1968 - it's all a blur to me now, but I do remember discovering open tunings... Oh, and then I dropped out (typical).
  2. Hi, This has occurrence has appeared a few times in this forum, and the best guess seems to be a corrupt preset. In the “Search” option on the top of the main page type “8212” and hit return to see how many instances pop up! Here’s one from 2019:- Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. Nice fix - well spotted. Shame this doesn’t work for the standard Safari browser on Apple Mac. Works for Chrome, Opera and Firefox browsers though. Not holding my breath - gasp!
  4. Hi Ho, (here we go!) Good point, sir. IIRC, I saw a post over on the Reaper forum about an earlier version of Native and Reaper having issues because, when the VST3 Native plug-in update was installed, some bits from the previous version were not entirely “cleaned out” by the new installation, which caused Reaper to fall over. Might be worth the OP investigating if a little more housekeeping is required .
  5. I don't know what it is supposed to do? That information is from the Reaper download page, therefore they must think it is important. Maybe you could ask in the Reaper forums, or tech support why Helix Native causes Reaper to crash on a Silicon Mac. Also, I saw that the current version of Reaper is listed as REAPER 6.52: Banjo Telemark, which seems to indicate that it is been constantly updated. Maybe they are bug squashing over there. According to the info, in the orange banner at the top of this page - "Apple M1, MacOS 11 and 12 Compatibility with Line 6 Software". It states that " Regarding macOS Monterey 12, we continue to test against it. We will provide updates in our Knowledge Base as products are tested.". There are lots of other users with Silicon Macs who have Native running just fine in other DAWs - possibly this is more of an issue in Reaper, as you said that you have had Native working via a template. If it was working, and now it doesn't then you have to ask - "What changed?" Other than that you could raise a ticket with CS to see if they can assist. Hope this helps - makes sense.
  6. Hi, Line 6 have Helix Native on sale for $279.99 (usually $399.99) - that’s 30% off - ends March 31st 2022. Grab it now or miss out. :-)
  7. It looks the same on everything that can access the forum - and it’s hideous. As I understand it, this is one of the styles available in the forum software supplied by “Invision Community” and if you check their website https://invisioncommunity.com/features/forums/ it would appear there are three view options, Traditional, Grid and Fluid. I guess what we have here is a variant of Fluid, although whatever fluid they are drinking must have screwed up something really bad!
  8. Nothing to see here - move along :-)
  9. Hi, Glad to hear that you have managed to blow out the bugs, and you’re up and running. Now you can enjoy recording with the LT - have fun.
  10. Hi, No - simply download the Helix Template for Logic that I linked in your other post about low levels in the DAW. And that "Option Click" should have read "Control Click" to bring up the true stereo pan in Logic. Let me know how it works with the template.
  11. There is no USB out level in the Globals - only a Trim option for USB 1&2 in. From the main screen for your preset there is a Pan and Level available for all the output options, but if you're recording via USB simply select the Multi Out and have your DAW set to receive USB 1&2 on a Stereo Channel in your DAW. If you require a DI unprocessed audio channel set a mono input channel to receive USB 7 - you can use this to re-amp if you wish. Hope this helps/makes sense. Here ya go - Humour me and load this into Logic and arm the channels to record, then select your Helix LT as the Audio Interface in and out and on your Helix LT hardware set the final output to Multi. Connect your guitar to the LT and play. Helix Template.zip
  12. Hi, On an almost daily basis since 2016, I have been using my Helix floor to record into Logic over USB and haven’t personally encountered this situation. I may be misunderstanding what you are asking, because if you have only a mono amp block followed by a stereo chorus, then you should not need to change anything on the hardware end. The USB channels 1 and 2 send the left and right audio into a stereo input channel in Logic (to be able to re-amp, I also take a clean DI in mono from USB 7) One thing springs to mind though - you do realise that pan knob on the channel strip in Logic defaults to a balance control, in order to make it work as a stereo pan knob you need to option click on it. Please clarify if I am misinterpreting the issue, for example - does this happen on every preset? We need to figure out if this is a setting on the LT or in Logic. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  13. Hi, Glad you managed to get your new Helix LT updated and fully functional. The "What will probably seem to go wrong...relax!" sheet that you mentioned is more generally known as the Firmware Release notes, which can be found in the “Knowledge Base” section of the forum. In a generally futile attempt to make sure that people are fully informed, those same notes are included on the download page for each revision of the Firmware. Much like the owner’s manual for your hardware, they contain some very useful information, although it is sometimes conveyed in a light-hearted way, and usually in big red letters - e.g.: IMPORTANT! Carefully read and follow the update instructions below. If you don't—and then run to the forums asking why it's not working—the interwebs will make fun of you. It’s a bit like “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” which has “DON’T PANIC” printed in big friendly letters on the front cover. Have fun with your new toy - and (deep breath) - relax.
  14. Ha ha ha - you can stop now. You have embarrassed yourself enough. Unsurprisingly!
  15. Ah, the thing about the Metallurgy Collection is that they can also work as stand alone apps, not just plug-ins. Possibly some bits from them will make it into the 3.20 update, but don’t count on it. The big discussion over on TGP, appears to be more to do with the skeuomorphic design UI, and the new cab/mic placement than the actual amp models. Ho hum, it will happen when it happens. I got my Helix floor in 2016 and it replaced a rack full of other stuff - it works great for me - anything else that might get added is a bonus.
  16. Hi, Surprisingly on page 26 of the HX Effects 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev C - English it mentions all the various Looper functions and loop times available. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a411710a6112a67116f0b/application/pdf/HX Effects 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev C - English .pdf If you look on the Contents page under the Effects heading you can see Looper Page 26. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. Well, it does make for a lot of rather pointless scrolling to get to the replies. If you have only just discovered the other sites where the Line 6 staff usually contribute comments, then you're more than a little late to the party - we all know where Eric, Igor, Ben, Frank and the rest of the Line 6 crew hang out - it's just not here, but we do visit lots of other places too. If you think the stuff you pick up over on The Gear Page and the Facebook Helix Family Group really are hints, then you better get used to being very disappointed, because as I mentioned earlier, there are such things as Non Disclosure Agreements involved. Furthermore Digital igloo (Eric) is notorious for being vague and generally misleading when it comes to firmware updates. Therefore in his famous words, when is it due to land - Soon, very soon. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  18. Hmm… first post with half a page of white space! O.K. Here we go again. This is a user group - there is nobody here from Line 6 who could confirm, or deny your question. Even if there was a member of Line 6 staff here - they are subject to NDA’s and would not answer. Stick around for several years and you will get used to the idea that you will never know for certain what will, or will not be, in the next Firmware update. The guessing game becomes a little tedious after a while. Wait until v.3.2 finally drops, and if that particular model is not included, you can post on IdeaScale and ask for it to be added. You will be at the end of a very long queue. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. Hi, The “Headroom” parameter in the Helix products is added to some, but not all blocks, to suppress exactly the type of cracking that you reported. It’s something to do with the nature of the original item being modelled, for example the Elephant Man. If your signal going into that delay is a little too hot it can create the distortion that you observed. The “headroom” function is available to allow you to adjust it until you no longer experience any unwanted distortion. If you are getting unexpected over saturated, over driven clipping noise, check to see if the block has a “headroom” parameter and adjust it until it you clean it up. It seems that some items are modelled so well, they even include the noisier characteristics. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: I knew I had see something about this elsewhere - I found this over on TPG. It’s by Ben Adrian -one of the main people behind the Helix models. ”If you were using the 70s Chorus or the Bubble Vibrato (or many of the rotating speakers for that matter), they have a control called headroom. We decided to add that parameter because of the following reason: Fact 1: We model most effects at "guitar level". This is because most effects were designed to be run between a guitar and an amp. Also, many of these effects distort, even when they're not supposed to. So, many analog delays and modulations have some non-linearity at high guitar levels. This is an important part of the effect because even if one does not notice the distortion as "DISTORTION", there is a harmonic complexity added because of the non-linearity. Fact 2: Most users set their amp models at higher than unity gain. This is generally fine, but it can cause issues. I think users set up a model and because "loud" sounds "good", the channel volume creeps up higher and higher. I think there's also a psychological thing that, since guitar amps make the guitar louder, a model should boost the signal as well. This behavior will cause amp models to be 6-12dB louder than a bypassed amp. Now, if one combines Fact 1 and Fact 2, and one puts a non-linear modulation or delay effect after an amp model, there will be a lot of unreasonable distortion. An effect that is mean to be used guitar level is now being fed a much louder signal and is drastically clipping. It's not digital clipping, mind you, it modeled analog circuit clipping. So, we came up with "headroom", which is a level-scaling parameter that adjusts the clipping threshold of the modeled analog circuit. If one is putting a non-linear effect after an amp model, one should adjust the headroom control to find a personally satisfying amount of effect clipping. Higher is cleaner. Sidebar: My suggested manner for setting amp model volume is as follows. 1. pick your amp model. 2. adjust your tone so that you're happy. 3. bypass the amp. listen to the clean volume. 4. engage the amp and set the channel volume control so that the RMS volume of the amp model and the bypassed amp are about the same. If users have a loud channel volume AND have the front panel volume control both set at max, digital clipping is quite possible. Cheers!” That should clear it up.
  20. Hi, The foot switches on theHelix Stomp XL are Up and Down (arrowheads) A,B (bottom), C,D (top) along with MODE Edit/Exit and TAP Tuner (bottom right). Your naming of buttons 1,2,4 and 5 plus 3 and 6 are completely meaningless without indicating precisely which foot switches you're referring to. Help us to help you - and/or consult the HX Stomp XL 3.0 Owner's Manual. I would suggest the Command Centre Section Page 50, where theoretically, you can assign anything to any foot switch (within reason). https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f21c86112a483099fb/application/pdf/HX Stomp XL Owner's Manual - Rev B - English .pdf Also - Steve Sterlacci states in this video that you cannot change the function of the Bank/Preset UP DOWN switches, but watch and learn.
  21. Hi, Here ya go - an old video by Ben Vesco (forum user Malhavok). Plus one video from Johnny Lee, Oh, and here’s another from Steve Sterlacci. Lots more out there when you look. Hope this helps/helps sense. Oops! Nearly forgot - Jason
  22. Hi, From the Helix Native download page for Mac OS: ”Compatible OS: Mac OS X, macOS Sierra, macOS High Sierra, macOS Mojave, macOS Catalina, macOS Big Sur, macOS Monterey” If you want to know if it will function in both Monterey and ProTools simply download the fully functional 15 day trial version. Plus if you have a registered Helix, Floor, Rack, LT, Stomp, or HXFX, you can buy it now for $69.99 while it’s on offer. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. Hi, I’m not entirely sure how relevant this is, but this is noted on the Reaper download page for Mac: (my bold italics) ”Note: the macOS 10.15+ macOS download is notarized and uses the "hardened runtime," which may reduce compatibility with certain plug-ins. You may still run the regular 64-bit macOS download on macOS 10.15 - macOS 12; however, you must shift+right click and choose "Open" when running that version for the first time. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. Hi, Yes, no problem at all. Many people in this forum use the Focusrite Scarlett AI for recording Helix. You can also use your Helix as an 8 channel USB audio interface. Download the Owner’s Manual for more information about recording and re-amping with your hardware. That is what I do, as I had to stop using my old Focusrite Saffire when I got a new computer which didn’t support FireWire. Have fun recording with your Helix.
