The discount is a good deal but I've had way more than $30 worth of fun between purchasing them and now. The upside of this is hopefully a bunch of folks will buy the packs and create some awesome new patches. I got what I paid for and it has exceeded my expectations so I'm good.

Nice guitar! I couldn't have passed that one up either.

No JTV Set-up Info from Line6
DarrellM5 replied to Guitarkyller's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Yeah, I see what you mean, but a basic setup including adjusting the truss rod, setting the string height and intonation are still a piece of cake. -
I'm enjoying all of the new model packs but haven't played with them much yet. I kind of got sidetracked exploring the incredible new Variax setlist that came with the new FW.

No JTV Set-up Info from Line6
DarrellM5 replied to Guitarkyller's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I've been setting up my own guitars for years; it's simple to accomplish. I could easily set up my JTV but when I checked it out it seems that Sweetwater nailed it perfectly. It's no different than any other electric guitar in general. -
Does posting from my tablet count? BTW, I'm 48. Been playing since '85 and been using Line 6 gear since 2004.

Anyone run their HD500X into the effects return of a guitar amp?
DarrellM5 replied to Rocco_Crocco's topic in POD HD
Sometimes I run the 500X into the effects return of my Vetta II amp and it sounds really great. -
To me it was well worth the $100 for these models. Even if they discontinue the HD500X it doesn't mean it's game over. It's only at the end of it's life when you decide to stop using it. I'm still rockin' my Vetta II that I bought in 2004 and it still does everything I purchased it for in the first place. I'd even consider purchasing model packs for the Vetta II if Line 6 wanted to put them out.

There, I gave him one for ya.

Nice! You should post some pics of your setup. -
true models on jtv
DarrellM5 replied to arislaf's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I might give it a go. I'd like to see if they have anything in Workbench that can come close to the Seymour Duncan Nazgul and Sentient pickups. -
New JTV-59 -- wow!
DarrellM5 replied to grandinq's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Congratulations on your 59. I have the 69 with humbuckers and I really like the sound of them. I'm also a huge PRS fan. Of the dozen guitars in my collection, nothing comes close to the PRS as far as comfort and play-ability. And mine is a SE model. That being said, nothing comes close to my Variax for versatility. It's not as comfortable as the PRS, but it's still easy to play and it can do far more. If only PRS had bought Line 6. :) -
No complaining on this thread: why I love my line 6 gear
DarrellM5 replied to wilson69978's topic in Line 6 Lounge
I've been a huge Line 6 fan since 2004 when I bought the Variax 500 and Vetta II combo. I also bought a GuitarPort. Since then I've added a JTV69, HD500X and DT25 Head / 1x12 cab. I still have all of this gear and, for the most part, it's been very reliable. The only thing that has required service so far is the DT25 head, which they turned around in 30 days. I'm very satisfied with the level of service, reliability and innovation that Line 6 provides and I'm really looking forward to the future. -
Guitar Set-up Step X Step
DarrellM5 replied to Guitarkyller's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Good read, thanks. I didn't know about the free issues either. -
IMO they completely blow away the original factory presets. I remember when I first fired up my HD500X and started cycling through the factory presets. My initial impression was "arghh, this is going to take some serious work". I was expecting far better given that I loved a lot of the original Vetta II factory presets. The new Variax set list presets would have made a much better first impression.

When you change the topology (I,II,III,IV) you are changing the amp configuration between the 4 modeled amps. It's like going into the effects return of 4 different amps. Bypassing the preamp by going into the effects return should be similar to using the L6 link; the POD models the preamp section (assuming you're using the PRE models of the amps in the POD). It should sound very different in each position. Hopefully I got this right.
-
There aren't any factory presets that include the new models. This is probably because not everyone will purchase the new packs and the presets wouldn't work for them.
-
That sounds really good to me. Nice chops.

Especially when a lot of albums only had 1 or 2 good songs.

Awesome job on the video production and the information helped me tremendously. EQ's have always dumbfounded me and your videos shed a lot of light on the subject. I'll be practicing dialing in EQ's all weekend. Thanks!!!

Count me in as well. I'm loving the new amp models and feel that I received a terrific value for my money. I purchased the bundle and there are so many new things to try I'll be busy for months. :D The Variax set list was an unexpected added value. Some of those presets are so great I would have purchased them, were they not free. I haven't even gotten a chance to play with the bass stuff yet. Thanks Line 6!!!!!

Yep.

Nice job!!!! Sounds great.

Really cool track man. You can definitely hear the Vai influence in your playing and I could have easily guessed the model of guitar. Sweet tones. I'm gonna give 'em a try.
