  1. Is the input signal clipping in Reaper? It’s been a long time since I’ve had/used an X3 bit iirc that same control panel item also has a USB Boost switch. Perhaps that is active?
  2. BS. I do this all the time with plugins. It might be partly true with a ‘real’ amp but if so I expect that’s an issue with the particular amp rather than the signal. My first question to “someone” would be: Have you ever experienced such an issue yourself, are are you just ideologically tied to the analog world? Second question: Assuming that by ‘real’ amp you mean the recorded USB signal is being converted to analog and fed into the amp’s guitar input, what quality D/A converter is being used, and by what intermediate device? A low quality device/converter could introduce artifacts.
  3. Confusing? See manual pg 9. Very clear, very simple.
  4. The looper functionality in Helix (and most other Line 6 devices) is not really designed for live use. It’s primarily designed for practice and editing presets. Most players who need a versatile looper use an external and fully featured looper pedal like the ones you mention.
  5. A blended Scotch leaves a bit of residue. Go with a single malt.
  6. They already did, years ago. The Line 6 StageSource family of speakers (see Legacy Products on this website) were (are) amazing. Then Yamaha bought Line 6 and apparently decided that they were directly competing with existing Yamaha products. They were mothballed shortly thereafter. The StageSource speakers as well as the StageScape mixer haven’t been heard of since. I still use the M20d mixer and a pair of L3t speakers. Love them.
  7. I just tested my setup and it works fine. I note, however, that I am running WB v3.14; I haven't update to 3.15. Perhaps you could roll back and try it? If 3.14 works for you please let Line 6 know there's potentially a bug in 3.15 when they respond to your support ticket.
  8. Well, the POD Go has received three major updates (not just bug fixes) since it was released three years ago. I don’t think there’s any reason to feel dissatisfied about your first point. What exactly are your expectations about updates? How often, and for how long? In general Line 6 plays it close to the vest for all product update announcements, not just the POD Go. Also, they tend to provide more product update information in other places (e.g.Gearpage) than here. This is a user forum and it’s nobody’s job at Line 6 to hang out here. And as voxmann55 said, another update has been promised. It will be dropped ‘soon’. Once again, user expectations about the timing of ‘soon’ can leave some users disappointed. In any case, ‘nuff said. I know the above won’t satisfy you and I’m not going to debate it further.
  9. Assuming your 4CM cabling is as I've described all you have to do is bypass the LT FX Loop (turn it off) in the snapshot where you activate the LT amp model. It sounds to me like your cabling is wrong. In 4CM your guitar should be connected to the LT Guitar input, not the front of your physical amp.
  10. I’m not sure I understand. With 4CM the cabling looks like this: Guitar -> LT Guitar Input -> LT FX Loop Send -> physical amp front input (preamp section) -> amp FX Send -> LT FX Loop Return -> LT main output -> physical amp FX Return. Yes, you can “run the LT via 4CM using my actual amp's preamp section“. Simply include an FX Loop block in your LT preset. When its FX Loop block is active your signal will be routed through your physical amp’s preamp section. When it is inactive your physical amp’s preamp will not receive a signal from your LT. You should construct your LT preset so that only one of the FX Loop block and the amp model blocks is active. If your FX Loop is active your amp model should be bypassed because your physical amp’s preamp section is being used, and you generally don’t want both amps. Conversely, if your LT preset’s FX Loop block is inactive you want the LT amp block to be active. In this case no signal is sent to your physical amp’s preamp. You CAN use both the physical amp’s preamp and an LT amp model simultaneously but it generally will not sound good.
  11. The 4CM cabling works in conjunction with the FX Loop in your Helix LT preset. Typically you would use either the real amp's preamp or the LT amp modeling. Not both simultaneously. So whether the amp modeling occurs before or after the preamp should, I think, be irrelevant. In terms of signal routing the position of the FX Loop in your LT signal chain determines the point at which the signal leaves your LT, enters the physical preamp, and returns to the LT. If your preset is designed with the FX Loop after the amp model then the signal goes to your physical preamp after it has passed through the LT amp model. If the LT FX Loop appears before the amp model in your preset then the signal goes to your physical preamp before the amp model. But as stated, you don't want both the amp model and the physical amp's preamp to be simultaneously processing the signal. If your LT preset FX Loop is turned off then you want your amp model on. In that case the signal never leaves your LT. The physical amp's preamp is bypassed; the signal never passes through it. Similarly if the FX Loop in your LT preset is on then the signal goes to your physical preamp and you want to bypass the amp model in your preset, whether it appears before or after the FX Loop in the signal chain.
  12. I don't believe there's anything different about the HX FX ins/outs that makes it any better in an amp's FX Loop. The design difference is, I believe, purely from a usability standpoint. The HX FX is more familiar to use for players who are familiar with analog pedals than with digital amp modeling. The HX FX is just a simpler and more familiar setup.
  13. This topic comes up routinely and applies to just about any modeler on the market, not just Line 6 products. You’ve hit the nail on the head regarding the main issue: user expectations. If you buy a product because you expect it to do exactly what it now does for a reasonable period of time you will not be disappointed. Any future updates are a bonus, not something you feel entitled to. If you buy a product expecting many frequent updates for a long time you will eventually be disappointed. Line 6 has no control over your expectations, it’s up to you to decide whether and when you choose to feel disappointed. Personally, I consider a piece of hardware to be dead when it stops working. Hardware that works properly and continues to do what it is advertised as being able to do is a successful and satisfying purchase to me. Any free updates (beyond bug fixes) provide value above and beyond what I paid for. It’s too bad that your expectations are leading to disappointment. The POD Go is, imho, a very solid product and has received updates that have made it better than it was when originally released. Are more updates coming? Probably, but no guarantee. Will updates eventually stop? Certainly. When? Nobody knows, not even Line 6 at this point. That’s the simple reality. How you choose to feel about it is up to you. Actually, I’m a bit mystified as to why someone would buy a product they’re already disappointed with because it doesn’t yet do X, Y or Z which they are expecting (reasonably or not) it to be able to do someday. Doesn’t that imply you are paying too much for it today? Why do that? Isn’t it more reasonable to wait and see if the product ever meets expectations and buy it then?
  14. There is a Global Setting in the Switches/Pedals section that controls pedal behaviour in this respect. From the manual, the Position setting for each pedal: “Determines whether the POD Go expression pedal positions are recalled per snapshot, per preset, or applied globally. If you want a Volume Pedal or Wah to maintain its position when switching presets, set this to “Global.””
  15. It sometimes happens to me when I have an expression pedal that is misbehaving. When the pedal is at its min or max physical setting it sometimes fluctuates from, say, 0% to 1% for no apparent reason. That causes the display to shift to the pedal setting and is also interpreted as a change to the preset. Hence the ‘E’.
  16. Are you switching presets after changing a snapshot or just moving to another snapshot in the same preset? If the latter, there is a Global Setting that allows you to specify whether you want snapshot edits to be saved or discarded when you leave the snapshot. When you leave a preset without saving it any edits to the preset are lost. It will load in its last saved state.
  17. …. moved to the proper forum ….
  18. Patches are generally not compatible between different product families. So you can’t load POD XT presets into your POD HD500X. Nor are POD HD product patches compatible with any Helix devices. Depending on DSP limitations and routing/dual path capabilities most simple POD HD family presets are compatible, or can be made compatible using a file converter utility developed by a forum user many moons ago. I don’t know if it’s still kicking around somewhere. For instance, you could convert a Pod HD500X preset to be compatible with a Pod HD ProX device and vice versa. You can’t import a POD HD500X preset into any Helix device.
  19. To place the external boost pedal in the amp’s FX Loop you have two options: - put it between the amp’s FX Loop (Send) output and the HX Stomp Return input. This places your boost before any HX Stomp post-FX Loop processing blocks. - put it between the HX Stomp Main output and the amp’s FX Loop (Return) input. This places your boost after all HX Stomp processing, making it the last thing in your entire signal chain.

    Helix Edit

This usually indicates a problem with the USB communications between your Helix and computer. Try using different USB ports on your computer and avoid using a USB hub.
  21. It’s possible that you recorded the ‘delay’. The Looper starts recording as soon as you tap the Start switch. It continues to record (including any silence) until you hit the Stop or Overdub switch. If there was any pause in starting to play after starting the looper, or before stopping it, that will be recorded as silence. You will hear the silence being played back. To get rid of it you will have to record the loop again, this time with no silent periods.
  22. That bundle requires you to have purchased a Helix hardware device. Did you register that device and upload proof of purchase as required? From the description of the bundle: ”To claim your free software, register your Helix or HX® hardware and upload your proof of purchase using the link below. Once approved, your licenses for Cubase LE 12, Helix Native, and the Metallurgy Collection will be deposited into your Line 6 account.”
  23. Are you logged in to your Line 6 account in the metallurgy app when attempting to authorize?

Not all .hlx files are compatible with all Helix devices. In Customtone, make sure you specify which Helix device you have before searching.
