  1. Yes - I see now what he was getting at. Just a mechanical thing, not conceptual. Thanks for clarifying.
  2. I don't understand. Snapshots are designed to, as you say, allow for different parts. That means each snapshot should sound different so I would expect the behaviour you describe - changing snapshots changes the sound. That's what they're designed for; if you don't want the sound to change don't use snapshots. It seems you may not fully understand the concept of snapshots and how to use them. I suggest you re-read that section of the manual. EDIT: Also, check the details of your snapshot definitions and make sure the amp/FX blocks are turning on/off as desired, and that any parameters are changing as desired.
  3. The Workbench program communicates with the Variax guitar using a proprietary Line 6 hardware product called the Variax Workbench Interface. No other interface device will do the job (except some other Line 6 guitar multi-FX products that have this interface technology built-in). It's very expensive for a little bit of plastic and circuitry but sometimes you can pick up a used one. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Workbench

You just need to install the latest version, 2.71. No need for any previous release. If your Helix LT is running an earlier firmware version you should also update it. The procedure is: 1) Download the HX Edit v2.71 package. Run the downloaded file which will install the latest Edit program, driver, and Line 6 Updater program. 2) Connect your LT device via USB to your computer and run the HX Edit program to back up your LT device, just as a precaution. 3) Close the HX Edit program and run the Line 6 Updater program to update the LT firmware.
  5. If you plan to rack mount the systems (and iirc from another post you do) you would definitely need the AD8 unit with the V55 systems since they do not support antenna daisy chaining. For that reason alone I chose the XD-V75 for my 5-system setup. The additional cost of the 5xV75 systems was less than the 5xV55 plus the AD8. In addition, the V75 systems include a mic case; the V55 do not. All things considered I think the V75 is better value, at least for 5 systems. 8 might be a different cost equation. You're right about the maximum recommended systems for daisy chaining. I find 5 is OK but you might need 2 pairs of P180 antennas for 8 systems. EDIT: I updated to reflect that I am using 5 systems, not 4 as originally stated.
  6. One problem I used to run into using the onboard pedal and toe switch on a Pod HD500 - in rocking the pedal to the toe position to activate one desired FX (e.g. wah) you simultaneously are increasing to max level the currently assigned FX (e.g. Vol). So while you may be playing at a good level with the currently assigned Vol pedal at the middle position you want to activate the Wah FX. To do so you rock the pedal to the toe position to push the switch, meaning your Vol level increases to the max setting. You may or may not like the volume level change. I have the Helix Rack/Control which has no onboard pedal. I use two external pedals, neither of them with a toe switch. I leave the Vol FX on at all times and use one pedal to control its sweep. I assign the Wah FX to a footswitch and use that to turn it on/off as desired and use the other pedal to control the Wah sweep.
  7. I would take the manual literally - pressing knob 2 clears ALL controllers, including any snapshot controller assignments. In fact, the 'Important' note says it ALSO removes the Wah and Vol assignments, which implies it is clearing other controller assignments as well. I think the full list of what would be affected is described in the manual as follows: Helix provides a wide variety of tools for controlling your tone during a performance. The most obvious one is the built-in expression pedal (often assigned to wah or volume), but you may also assign footswitches to toggle between two values of a given parameter or parameters, control a parameter from an external MIDI device, or the volume and tone knobs on a James Tyler Variax or Variax Standard guitar. You can even have parameters instantly change when selecting different snapshots within a preset. If a controller has been assigned to a parameter, the value appears white and in brackets: So any controller assignment indicated by a white and bracketed display would be cleared. Of course, a quick way to test this would be to do it on one preset and see what happens. I haven't done that but it seems like a straight forward thing for you to do.
  8. You cannot load new amp models into Helix. The amp packs available for purchase are presets based on existing amp models, not new amp models.
  9. Did my suggestion answer your question? I added more info since the initial post, which was the one you quoted.
  10. Now I'll be rude : RTFM It sounds like you may have both the Wah and Vol FX assigned to the same pedal controller. If so you will need to turn the Vol FX OFF when you turn the Wah ON. (re: my RTFM: for other readers, see my other exchange with this user here):
  11. What's rude about that? Reading the manual can be very helpful. In your case, you wouldn't have had to come here, ask the question, and wait for an answer. The answer was already at your fingertips. I fail to see how pointing that out is rude. What is rude, however, is suggesting that I have a personal problem.
  12. I suspect that's your answer right there. Probably not worth it given the ability to load IRs. They've just invested in the Helix Marketplace which gives users access to plenty of IRs.
  13. I've also had success with a 64GB SD card. I have never tried 128GB.

  15. You already have a thread on this topic. Have you looked at the replies in that thread? I suggest you continue your discussion there rather than starting a new thread for the same question.
  16. I got the Stryom Ojai power supply box which provides power to up to 5 devices. Works like charm and amazingly tiny. For 8 devices you would want the Zuma model. https://www.strymon.net/power/
  17. No. There is no spillover of any FX trails when switching patches/presets. This is not unique to the FX100 - it is the case for virtually all modelers from any manufacturer.
  18. And I assume he means that his Pod and the computer he's talking about are in different rooms, or perhaps different floors, or perhaps different buildings, or ......
  19. Yes - it's ambiguous. I generally place the wah FX after the distorion FX. That's the way I prefer it, anyway, unless going for the specific sound of it before the distortion.
  20. Not to mention long headphone/speaker cables..... the sound is still being produced by the Pod HD, wherever that is.
  21. No - the HD Edit program does not generate audio. The audio is produced by the Pod HD device, which must be connected via usb to your computer.
  22. Yes, you can do that but you'll need to define whatever you mean by 'none'. Every pickup selector position is associated with some valid definition of a Variax model. You will have to define 'none' in terms of an actual Variax model (body type, pickups, string volumes, etc.) and configure that to be placed in pickup selector position #2. One idea might be to set all string volume levels to zero; that should result in no sound being produced by the model regardless of other settings. It's analogous to a preset in a a modeller like Helix. There is no such thing as an empty preset slot; every one of the 1028 setlist, bank, and preset slot locations in Helix contains a valid preset. There is, however, a definition of an 'empty' preset. The New Preset definition that fills all the slots in the User Setlists from the factory bundle is a valid preset containIng no amp or FX blocks, and that is what's used to represent an empty preset slot. And it's what most people use when they want to 'delete' a preset; they copy the empty preset into the target slot location.
