  1. I am curious (but admittedly uninformed) about poly-phonic pitch shifting FX. Are there any such devices by any manufacturer that do this well? Seems to me a difficult task. Easy enough with one note - the device can easily determine the single pitch and alter it accordingly. But with a guitar chord, including up to six distinct pitches and all the harmonic overtones that go along with them..... seems to me a rather complex and perhaps time consuming analysis. I think the result would be a discordant mess delivered with an unacceptable delay. I would expect it to sound pretty much like you describe - horrible. But, perhaps there are some that do the job well?
  2. This could be either corrupt firmware or a hardware problem. First I would try reinstalling the firmware. Make sure you back up your bundle of presets to restore later. If the problem persists it is probably hardware. Since several switches are affected I think it's probably an internal wiring issue rather than multiple switch failures. Inside the device there are several little plastic couplers that join certain chip components together. Sometimes symptoms such as you describe are the result of these little couplers coming loose or being disconnected. If you are not comfortable doing this inspection yourself you may want to have the device inspected at an authorized service center.
  3. If you're looking for information on future Line 6 products and specific product development plans you won't find it here. Your guess is as good as anyone else's re: future development plans and scalability for all candidate mixers. You can factor any speculation you wish on these points into your decision.
  4. Roll back to the v2.32 compatible version of HD500 Edit and see what happens. If the same thing happens then there's a problem. If not, Charlie_Watt is correct. EDIT: With the old HD500 EDIT program you may encounter an issue loading the Variax setlist. That was introduced with v2.6 and may not be fully backwards compatible.
  5. When you rolled back the firmware did you also roll back to the compatible version of HD500 Edit? Recall that an updated version of HD Edit is required for firmware v2.6x. Perhaps that Edit program is not fully compatible with firmware v2.32? EDIT: Do you know if your previously saved setlist User 2 contains any presets that use the new amps in firmware v2.6x? If so I would not expect them to load properly into HD500 firmware v2.32.
  6. The M20d operates exactly as advertised. It remains fully supported by Line 6. That does not mean there's a guarantee of any future updates or improvements. But it will at the very least continue to operate as it does today. In my opinion you should base your decision on the extent to which the various candidate devices meet your needs and desires today - not what they may or may not do at some future time.
  7. Usually the fix also involves replacing an internal component that gets fried when the usb port short circuits. You may be lucky enough that just replacing the port will do the trick, but I think it's unlikely. You will probably still need servicing at an authorized service center.
  8. The only time I have seen this message in the past is with old tones that were created with early versions of the Pod HD firmware - pre-v1.43. The issue was a corruption in the old tone files that could lead to a dangerously loud (potentially ear-damaging) signal being produced by the POD device. The issue was resolved as of firmware v1.43 but presets created in earlier firmware can be corrupt, and the corruption was detected as of that date with the associated edit programs. My interpretation of your situation is that your downloaded tone pack is old, and contains some corrupt presets. The ones that are not corrupt are successfully loaded. The ones now named New Tone were corrupt. Corrupted presets can not be salvaged and cannot be loaded. Here's a snip from the v1.43 firmware release notes: ...... POD HD500 firmware v1.43 POD and HD500 Edit v1.08 prevents invalid data from being introduced into presets......
  9. HD500 patches can be loaded into the HD500X Edit program by drag/dropping them from your computer folder/desktop into any preset slot in the Editor. There is no need to change the filename extension of HD500 patch files. Once in the Editor you can SEND them to the HD500X device.
  10. I would open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 on this. You may have a faulty unit. I can't think of any reason that your amp output level should be that low for other than poorly designed presets. And the factory presets aren't that bad. You should also proceed with the suggestion of producing a recording. You can post it here for more feedback, and the techs responding to your support ticket would also find it diagnostically helpful.
  11. This is a cautionary note to people using a Variax guitar with the Firehawk, particularly gigging users. If you're like me you might prefer to set up all your presets in advance of a gig, including the Variax model and alternate tuning settings, so that you don't have to do any live editing or tailoring of the Variax for each preset. In fact, you might leave your editor at home (in this case a mobile device). But while practicing at home you might experiment with the Firehawk App and come across the 'Model Controlled By' and 'Tuning Controlled By' settings on the Variax page of the app. Be aware that these are global settings, available only in the editor. These settings can not be changed on the device itself. What does that mean? It means if you leave your experimenting in the editor with these parameters set to Variax (rather than Firehawk) the Firehawk device is prevented from controlling these parameters. This setting holds through the power down/up cycle of the Firehawk device. In other words, if you have mistakenly left these settings at Variax and you arrive at your gig without your mobile device, all your carefully constructed Variax model and alternate tuning settings in the Firehawk presets are ignored by the Firehawk device. They are not applied/sent to your Variax when you recall your presets, and there is no way to change that without the editor. Have a nice gig. Recommendations: If you store Variax info in Firehawk presets make sure that: - the 'Model Controlled By' and 'Tuning Controlled By' parameters are set to 'Firehawk' at the end of every editor session. - you bring your mobile device with the Firehawk App to your gigs, just in case. Hope this cautionary note might preempt a frustrating situation.
  12. I have tested your 9D Kiiler Queen preset. When I'm not playing it is totally silent. When playing it sounds to me like a normal high-gain tone. Not being a high gain player, that means that it sounds to me equally as noisy, fizzy and buzzy as any other high gain tone. For instance, I find it no more or less awful than its neighbour 9C Pull Me Under. I normally like the amp being used in 9D (the Vox A30 TB) but to me the combination of the Amp Drive nearly maxed, Master Vol at 100%, and the Tube Drive Gain very high all contribute to a tone that I would never use. So perhaps I am not the best judge. But by dialing down some of those settings I can get a very useable tone with no excessive noise or static. And as I said, the unmodified preset is totally silent when I'm not playing - no background noise whatsoever.
  13. If your Pod is working properly you should be hearing sound with the setup I've described. The fact that you are not hearing good sound suggest to me that your Pod has a hardware fault. Since it is new (at least new to you), can you return / replace it?
  14. If you just want to playback loops from the Boss, not record loops capturing any sound from the Pod, you could simply connect the Boss stereo outputs into the Pod cd/MP3 input. You will need an adapter to merge the two 1/4" outputs from the Boss into the required 1/8" stereo cd/MP3 input.
  15. One other thing. Make sure the tuner is set to Bypass, not Mute. That way you will hear any signal through the headphones.
  16. Ok. If Input1 is set to guitar and the tuner is not responding, that means there is no signal from your guitar entering the Pod. Check your guitar cable and the guitar itself. Do you have any way to confirm that the cable is actually sending a signal from the guitar?
  17. Let's start with the basics: - connect your guitar to the Guitar input on the Pod. Connect headphones to the Pod. Engage the Tuner (hold down the Tap Tempo switch). Is the guitar signal reaching the Tuner? In other words - is the tuner operating? If not, check your Inputs for the preset. Make sure Input1 includes Guitar. If you can make the tuner operate and still don't hear any sound from the preset through headphones, let us know.
  18. All units currently being manufactured have the new design; there are no longer units being produced with this problem. However, there is really no way of telling how long a particular unit currently on a retailer's shelf has been in inventory. It is possible that currently available units were manufactured before this flaw was fixed. I suggest you find a unit you want, note the serial number (before purchasing if you want), and then call Line 6 to find out the status of that serial number with respect to this issue. Even if you get a flawed unit, the repair is covered under lifetime warranty at no cost to you. At worst there will be a delay in getting the fixed unit back to you. And since you don't have it yet anyway, you can pretend you just took a little longer making up your mind. ;)
  19. Check the main setup pages. The Variax page allows you to specify whether the Variax controls operate on a global or preset basis. You may have it set to global which will override any preset settings.
  20. Try deleting and re-adding the Firehawk device in your iPhone Bluetooth setup.
  21. There is an Amp/Line switch that's controls the output level for the unbalanced outs. Have you experimented with it?
  22. Yes. I have just tested and confirmed this. Global Settings reset restores the Global EQ to the values you stated above.
  23. That's curious to me. Unfortunately I don't have any AMPLIFi presets to test with. Can other new Firehawk owners who have access to AMPLIFi presets please test to confirm this behaviour?
  24. I have moved this post into the Firehawk segment of the forum.
