Using both xlr and 1/4" outputs at same time- question
silverhead replied to bond19's topic in Firehawk
Yes - if you use both XLR outputs they will be stereo. -
If you want to use a different sound/patch for overdubbing make sure you place the looper last in the signal chain. That way the looper records (and hence plays back) the post-processing signal. If the looper is placed first in the chain then it records the dry sound and on playback it feeds that into the front of the signal chain for processing by the current patch, which is not necessarily the patch you recorded it with.

Your connection looks right. You could also use unbalanced outputs over short distances. Also make sure the Pod HD ProX Output Mode is set to Studio. You should not need to use the ground lift unless you hear a humming noise.

Well, since you're reading this in English I guess you could understand the Looper section of the English manual well enough to learn how to use the looper.

No sound after update to 2.62 (guitar input jack no signal)

If the problem persists with a different external power supply I would open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 tech support. -
Model knob freaking out again
silverhead replied to clay-man's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Through the support ticket mechanism Line 6 will advise you on this. -
The Variax 500 is compatible with the Workbench software, not Workbench HD. The latest version is v1.75. In the Downloads section of this website (under the Support tab above) select Variax as the product and Variax Workbench as the software. Your Pod HD500 with a VDI connection will serve as your interface.

I would do the support ticket first. -
The latest Firehawk manual does include a section on looper operations. Make sure you have the most recent manual. Not that we're ducking the question. Just that it's explained clearly there. We can't do it any better here.

No sound after update to 2.62 (guitar input jack no signal)
silverhead replied to Nestor's topic in POD HD
That's OK; the power supply converts your household A/C into D/C to power the HD device. What I mean is do not use an A/C power adapter/supply directly connected to the Pod HD. -
Does this only happen when you are assigning the two FX to one switch and using the EXP as you describe, or is it inherent in the FX themselves? In other words, if you have a simple use of the FX in a preset, when it is turned ON and MIX at 0, do you still hear the faint FX?

silverhead replied to Nestor's topic in POD HD
Yes. That was actually going to be my next suggestion. If you can get your hands on a replacement power adapter try it. Just make sure it conforms exactly to these specs: http://store.line6.com/accessories/power/dc-3g-power-supply.html Note especially that this is a DC supply; do not use AC. -
Try re calibrating your pedal. (also... Not sure why you titled this thread FX Loop behaviour?)

Just FYI.... The 1/4" guitar cord acts as the power switch for the Variax. During breaks or long periods of rest you should disconnect the cord from the guitar to retain the battery charge. That's likely why your battery was dead a couple of hours after the sound check. There is also a 'sleep' function that is engaged by turning the Vol knob down to zero but I find it best to simply disconnect.

No sound after update to 2.62 (guitar input jack no signal)
silverhead replied to Nestor's topic in POD HD
I always follow this update procedure for the POD HD devices and have never had any real problems with it: 1) before updating, use the Edit program to back up any setlists and/or presets you want to restore later. 2) run Line 6 Monkey with the Pod HD connected via USB. - select the firmware to install or reinstall - when prompted, choose to replace the existing presets - when prompted, restart the device (there is no 'success' indicator). 3) perform a global parameters reset 4) recalibrate the pedal 5) use the editor to restore any setlists/presets saved in step #1. 6) change any global parameters you want from their defaults values. In your case make sure the Inputs are set to Preset, not Global. Note that step #3 renames the setlists to match the factory presets. If you don't do this you won't see any new setlists names (e.g. the Variax setlist that was introduced with v2.6). Try the above sequence and let us know the result. This way we can be sure we're starting to diagnose from a known state. -
Variax 500 Lithium Batteries?
silverhead replied to murwin's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
It's OK to use lithium as long as they each actually generate 1.5v. The Varaiax requires a 9v charge to operate properly. You may have problems if the batteries decline to the point where, fully charged, they only deliver say 1.2v each for a total of just over 7v. You will still need to replace your lithium batteries with a new set periodically but not as often as alkaline. Your first hint that your lithium batteries need replacement may be that your Variax starts misbehaving. Suspect the batteries first before speculating about hardware or software issues. -
I would open a support ticket with Line 6. It sounds like a failed footswitch to me. A Line 6 tech support person can guide you through some diagnostics to test whether the switch has failed.

Firehawk - how to setup & maintain multiple setlists
silverhead replied to freddie0815's topic in Firehawk
I don't think there is an easy way to manage setlists at the moment. Until and unless we get a 'batch transfer' capability we are stuck with sending presets one at a time to the Firehawk device. That makes managing setlists very cumbersome and time consuming. There is also no concept of setlists within My Tones afaik. It is just a flat set of tones without structure. I think the only thing you can do is maintain your own text file of setlists containing the names of the presets you want to download into your Firehawk along with their target location (1A, 1B, ..... 32D). You can then follow that structure for your individual 'Send To Hardware' commands using the Firehawk app. Make sure you save all the individual presets in My Tones. Not very elegant. Hopefully a firmware update at some point will include a bulk export/import of the full set of 128 presets in a single operation. -
*** Firehawk- sudden loss of output on stage . No signal out. ***
silverhead replied to jkuche's topic in Firehawk
That is certainly not normal. Since you were attracted to Firehawk in the first place, I wouldn't give up on it just yet. I would try reinstalling the firmware first, and if the problem persists I would pursue the support ticket with Line 6. You may simply have a defective unit. It happens. If so Line 6 will resolve this for you. -
The easiest way to set this up is to use the Pod HD Edit program that is associated with your Pod HD. In the Controllers section of the editor you assign the footswitch you want to use to turn the FX on/off. This applies on a per preset basis.

You can retain the advantages of firmware v2, including the other models, and also have the sound of the v1.9 Strat model. There was a thread some time ago where one or two users (can't remember exactly who right now, but thanks to them) posted Workbench HD models that are v2 compatible and sound very close to the v1.9 Strat models. I am using these in my JTV-59 running v2 firmware and they sound very good. Try searching for that thread and downloading the models. Then use Workbench HD to load them into your JTV and give them a whirl. Again, thanks to the users who created these. If you're reading this perhaps you could post a link?

That's correct and very clear. In pRosta's case he would not need to use the Firehawks's FX Loop at all unless he wants the added flexibility of having some presets that use the Firehawk's FX only, and use the preamp of his physical amp.
-
There's an Edit button in the top right area of the app display when you look at the list of My Tones. Hitting the Edit button allows you to delete selected tones.
-
You are already well set up to go direct to the mixer(s). Your best tool to deal with different mixers/PAs and venues is probably the Global EQ that came with the latest firmware update. I don't think you will find a drastic difference in sound. Your tones should sound pretty similar to the recordings with the help of a little EQ to accommodate the venue's PA and speakers. But that duty will largely fall into the sound guy's hands at the PA. I think you'll find a good sound guy can take your current tones and fit them into the mix quite well.
-
Yes, that is normal. The Variax output (which is selected as the input for your preset) is either a selected model or the mags when modeling is turned off. There is no setting in the Variax to make it output nothing. The Variax Mags setting for the Pod input will take the mags as the Variax output even when the Variax modeling is turned on. That way you can choose to blend the Variax Mags and selected Model as the preset inputs by setting Input 1 and Input 2 differently.
