  1. Don't get too excited just yet. I hear that Flummox is only going to sound 17.8% better than Helix. ;)
  2. There have been previous reports of glitchy displays. It's often a symptom of a failed/failing external power supply. I would try bringing it back to where you purchased it and test with a different wall-wart that they likely have on hand (make sure it is a match to the existing one). If the power supply is not the problem then I would ask for a replacement device.
  3. Cool - I have never done that. Thanks for the info. This may satisfy the OP's requirements although it still doesn't allow you to record wet and dry at the same time, which he said he wanted, and he doesn't need his Scarlett. The other thing to note from the video is that you cannot monitor any other playback tracks through the speakers while reamping - so it's difficult to tell dynamically how your reamp sound will sit in the overall mix. You have to reamp, monitor the mix, guess on how to tweak the reamp tone, tweak it when done monitoring, ... repeat. I'm not sure, but I think Line 6 Don's emphasized instruction to decease the hardware monitoring may allow you to monitor using headphones while reamping.
  4. They were transferred over from previous non-HD Pods.
  5. Correct. You won't be able to reamp them with the Scarlett 2i2.
  6. You need an audio interface that has at least 4 audio inputs/outputs (2 stereo pairs). The Scarlett 2i2 won't do it.
  7. That is not currently possible. It's a good idea - have you submitted it to Ideascale?
  8. Please provide more details. What exactly does 'stopped working' mean? What exactly are you doing when you try to use it? At what point does it 'stop working', and what happens at that point?
  9. 1921?? What are your plans for your 94th wedding anniversary this year? â¤
  10. Every device has its DSP limit. Most manufacturers design the devices with constraints and limitations so that the user will never encounter the limit. The result is that there is an unknown amount of unused DSP in every preset. Line 6 puts the user in charge of DSP allocation so that every preset can utilize as much of the available DSP as possible. It calculates available DSP dynamically and will only limit your creativity by denying an amp/FX selection that would exceed the available DSP. So, yes, you can reach the DSP limit any time you want by continuing to add amps and FX until the device finally reaches its limit. But I think you will find that your creativity will have lots of expressive room before reaching that point.
  11. Not a chance, ever. The Helix engine requires much more DSP capacity and other circuitry than is built into the Pod Hd. They would have to completely re-engineer the Pod Hd hardware - which they did and called it Helix. EDIT: Ooops... I misunderstood the question. I now realize the OP was asking only about the format of the device. My answer related to the actual POD HD device, not it's format. I have left my response here in case others make the same mistake I did, because it answers the misinterpreted question. As to the actual question, I strongly doubt that Helix functionality (especially the large display) could be made to fit the Pod Bean format/size. And given that the Helix UI is one of its strong selling points I don't think Line 6 would manufacture a device for it that can't handle the UI. As evidence of this, consider that the Helix Rack is a 3U device - not a 2U device like the Pod HD Pro. They couldn't fit everything required into 2U. Nor can it fit into the Bean format, and offering a larger Bean kinda defeats the purpose.
  12. The Soldano models in the Pod HD are HD. The new model packs contain some pre-HD models but everything prior to the model packs is HD.
  13. No - Workbench does not recognize the Firehawk device as an interface.
  14. Sometimes an update can expose (rather than cause) a hardware problem that was already present. That was the case with a USB component in the Pod X3 Live product; some users never experienced any problem until they updated their computer. But whatever the cause, the fix is to have it serviced. If it is no longer under warranty you will, unfortunately, have to pay for the service.
  15. Sounds to me like a hardware problem with your JTV-69. I would open a support ticket for this if you haven't already done so.
  16. No. An FX block can only be controlled by one FS. You can do the reverse, as you've already discovered - assign multiple FX to the same FS.
  17. My sympathies about your dad, markybird. Since he loved that you play guitar you can rest assured that he would endorse your decision. And don't feel bad about it for a second! Sometimes a person just needs to do what feels good and right for themselves, and indulge themselves despite what a financial adviser might say. You won't regret it, even if it stays in your bedroom.
  18. You could experiment with Workbench HD to edit the models. I can't say exactly what adjustments you might find useful but you'll learn a lot while experimenting, and it's pure fun!
  19. I have no problem with comparing tones, and I appreciate the effort jandrio is making. My problem is with trying to make quantitative tone comparisons and presenting them as being somehow meaningful or objective. Here are two statements: "To me, the Helix sounds better than the POD HD." "The POD HD sounds 90% as good as the Helix." I fully understand the first statement. I think the second statement is meaningless, unless you add a subjective qualifier and remove the number, in which case it means exactly the same as the first statement - no more, no less. With these changes it says "To me, the POD HD does not sound as good as the Helix." That's all I'm trying to say here. I'm certainly not suggesting that we don't all make our subjective sound comparisons and make our individual purchases accordingly. We all do that, balancing perceived tone quality and budget considerations. But it's subjective and not quantifiable or measurable.
  20. Try holding down the left (or right? I forget which) 4-way navigation key while powering on. You should see a display that includes the selection FLASH MEMORY. Select this and then run Line 6 Monkey to attempt a firmware reinstall.
  21. Jandrio, I appreciate the effort you are making here but I'm afraid I can't really see the point of this comparison. Firstly, how do you quantify and measure 'three times better'? It's entirely subjective. But more to the point, the proper comparison for Helix is to other options in its price range - like Axe or Kemper. I think you are making the same comparison that has been made here many times with the Axe, and to which most Pod HD owners agree: the Axe is not worth the extra $$ because the Pod sounds very good and (subjectively) very close. Yet Fractal and Kemper have strong high-end market share among users who will pay a lot more for any perceived quality improvement, quantified and measured or not. It's these users that Line 6 is targeting with Helix, thereby increasing overall market share. Helix is not primarily aimed as an upgrade for current Pod Hd users. So I think your point will be easily granted here, in the same way it has been granted for years re: AXE. Not worth the extra $$ for many users, especially those whose budget is very strained at that price.
  22. You could use the AUX (not cd/mp3) input for your external vocal pedal. Keep the paths separate as you are now doing and just move the newly available FX blocks into the guitar path so that the vocal path is unprocessed in the HD500X. The vocals as processed by your BOSS pedal will be passed through to the HD500X outputs, iuncluding USB to DAW. You can't use the cd/mp3 input for this because the HD500X passes this input directly to the analog audio outputs. It does not convert this input into digital format so it is unavailable to be passed via USB to DAW.
  23. The Pod HD500X is limited to 8 FX blocks. You would need to place additional external units in the Pod's FX Loop
