  1. You can't actually delete presets. You replace them with other presets. If you want, you can create a preset that you consider to be 'empty' and use that to replace any preset you want to delete. A preset is nothing but a bunch of 1s and 0s stored in an organized and structured fashion in your device's memory space. That space is necessarily occupied by some set of 1s and 0s, and the device makes sure that the information that is stored conforms to the required structure and represents a valid definition of a preset. So the only way to actually delete a preset would be to remove the associated physical memory, which is actually some small subset of a single memory chip inside the device. Actually trying to do this, of course, would be ridiculous.
  2. Check the Preferences for the HD500 device on your Mac. Is there a control for the mix of guitar vs. hardware playback?
  3. The Variax guitar outputs the same sound/model over its VDI and 1/4" connection. Using your HD500 as you describe will work; without being in your signal change it will operate as a power supply to your Variax guitar, and can be used to change Variax models according to your preset specification. The changed model will be heard through your 1/4" output to your other gear. The video you refer to could be using a Variax JTV with a VDI-equipped POD HD device. In this setup it is possible to create a dual-path preset with independent processing of a Variax acoustic model (Input1=Variax) and its on-board mag pickups (Input2=Variax Mags). That setup is only possible using the VDI connection; in that case the 1/4" output will depend on the Variax physical setting of the Model knob: Model or Mags.
  4. No - the FBV2 does not work with a Pod HD device. http://line6.com/footcontrollers/ I use the FBV Shortboard MKii with my Pod HD Desktop http://line6.com/footcontrollers/fbvshortboardmkii.html
  5. I'd like to hear the results of that test too. You seem to know exactly what you want - why not go ahead and do it? I look forward to your report.
  6. You have to manually change the speaker mode on the L3 and then SAVE the HD500 preset. There is no visible acces to the speaker mode setting on the Hd500 itself nor in Hd500 Edit. The speaker mode is stored somewhere/how in the device but it is not accessible.
  7. At this point I suggest you open a support ticket to work directly and individually with Line6 techs support personnel. http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html
  8. Have you tried all the USB ports on your computer, especially the rear panel ones?
  9. This is common advice that you may have already read and tried, but just in case...... Follow the directions in Line 6 Monkey closely, especially about when to disconnect and reconnect your device. Try all USB ports on your computer. Avoid using any USB hubs. Temporarily remove all other USB devices; if the Line 6 driver installs successfully then reconnect the other devices one at a time to identify a potential conflict.
  10. If you are connecting the HD via L6 Link then any Channel 2 adjustment should have no effect on the HD sound. In fact it should have no effect on anything if there is nothing physically connected to the Channel 2 input (unless your speaker is set to control the mixer settings on both Channels at the same time). I still recommend connecting the HD using the analog connections, not L6 Link. The L6 Link connection seems to feed a higher-volume signal to the speaker. For me it's much more difficult to balance the acoustic and electric guitar volumes using L6 Link. A further complication arises using L6 Link, which allows you to store the L2 speaker mode in the HD500 preset. By default, every preset in the HD500 sets the speaker to Electric Guitar mode. That may be great for your electric guitar but your acoustic guitar sounds better in PA/Reference mode. I find it easier to leave the speaker in PA/Reference mode, use the HD500 analog outputs rather than L6 Link, and not have to worry about what mode the speaker is in every time I switch between electric (HD preset determining the speaker mode) and acoustic guitar.
  11. Try to be a little more patient..... A very little bit more .......
  12. Yes - you can do that. I sometimes use a similar setup with an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar through a POD HD500, and an L3t speaker. I find that my acoustic connected to Channel 1 of the speaker, and using the built in acoustic modeling in the speaker gives a better sound than the same acoustic through the HD500. I leave the electric connected to the Hd500 and just switch guitars as desired. If you get feedback from the acoustic when you're using the electric you just need to lower the input on your acoustic (speaker Channel 1) or use a sound hole damper on the acoustic guitar. I prefer to connect theHD500 to the speaker's line inputs on the rear panel rather than to Channel 2 input. I do this for several reasons: - it lets me connect a mic to the Channel 2 input for those times when I (or someone who can sing) feels so inclined. Or even to talk to an audience. - by connecting both L and R Hd500 outputs to a stereo input pair you are sure that you are getting the full signal through the speaker. The Stagesource speakers are smart enough to sum the signal to mono if only one speaker is present. Which leads to..... - if and when you want to connect a second Stagesource speaker to the first using 2-way L6 Link you will get a full stereo sound with no further adjustment.
  13. I hope that this gets resolved to your satisfaction. Sounds like you should qualify for the free upgrade. I know your frustration was directed at the company; I didn't take it personally - but thanks for the apology.
  14. I notice this paragraph on the POD Studio GX product pages, under the Pod Farm tab: *POD Studio users who activated POD Farm on or after October 1, 2009 are entitled to a free upgrade to POD Farm 2.5. If your GX is not yet registered, register it here: http://line6.com/account/registergear/ Then run Line 6 Monkey with your GX connected and login to Monkey. You may be able to download and install Pod Farm 2.5 without any difficulty based on your account and activation history. If that doesn't work I definitely think you should contact Line6. They can tell you whether you qualify for a free upgrade to PF2.
  15. I neither represent nor work for Line 6. If you want to pursue this with Line 6 I suggest you open a support ticket. http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html
  16. I think the whole idea of alternate tuning is that it provides a quick and temporary switch to a different tuning, with the intention that you will revert back to your idea of a 'standard' tuning, based on the actual physical tuning of your guitar. If you want a different 'standard' tuning then I suggest you actually tune your guitar to that. Then you can switch models at will and won't need to think about alternate tuning.
  17. I use the same equipment (except for speaker types) and I connect things this way: Variax > VDI > HD500 > HD500 analog outs (not L6 Link) > M20d stereo inputs > M20d L6 Link Out > L3t#1 L6 In > L3t#1 L6 Out > L3t#2 L6 In In other words, I do not use the HD500 L6 Link output. The only disadvantage with this is that I can't use the Hd500 preset to store and recall the L3t speaker mode. That's not a concern for me. I leave the speaker mode set to PA/Reference, and I set the HD500 output mode to Studio and use the HD500 mic/cab models rather than try to use the L3t as a guitar cab/speaker. With this setup you can use the full power of the Dream Stage, connecting whatever other devices and instruments you want to the M20d inputs, and let L6 Link handle the speaker configurations.
  18. It seems that the AMPLIFiTT product is not supported on Windows systems prior to Windows 7. The only Windows systems that I see listed for the driver are Win7 and Win8, not XP.
  19. Forgot to mention - your interface needs to have a true ASIO driver. Avoid using something non-compliant like Asio4All.
  20. No counter indication that I am aware of. The hardware independent version should work just fine for you. I don't think you can buy just the plugins as a hardware independent subset; the standalone version comes bundled with the plugins - use it or not.
  21. No problem. Text can be very unforgiving, and can sometimes come across differently than intended. Wish I could say it's never happened to me. :P Thanks, and keep spinning the wheel. You'll find the right one soon.
  22. Your GX includes a license for Pod Farm version 1. The latest PF1 driver for Mac OS appears to be version 1.12, which provides support up to Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). What Mac OS are you running? If later than 10.6 then it appears you will either need to purchase an upgrade to Pod Farm 2, or install an earlier version of Mac OS on your computer, where PF1 will work. After all, that's the product you bought and paid for several years ago. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but every software product from every manufacturer has a life cycle and is not supported in perpetuity. I have purchased many software products in the past from different companies that eventually no longer work with constantly updated computer operating systems. I have several CDs of old software that will no longer load or operate on my current computer, and are not supported by the manufacturer on my current computer. Everyone, including Line 6, has to stop supporting old products at some point. You might reasonably argue that 4 years is not long enough, but I doubt that you will win the argument.
  23. Guitar Centre is somewhat notorious for recycling used/damaged units as new. I think your hypothesis is probably accurate, except that I doubt Line 6 was involved.
  24. Reinstalling the firmware will restore factory settings. Make sure to back up your existing presets/setlists first, and choose 'No' during the update process when asked if you want to keep your existing presets. After reinstalling, you can save each factory setlist for future use in case you ever want to do something like this again. Alternatively, perhaps someone who saved the factory setlist called 'Best of...' can post it here for your convenience. But rather than wait you can do the above.
  25. Yes. And make sure you keep the paths seperate if you want independent processing.
