It is visible on the display when the tuner is engaged. Turn the little black knob associated with the Mode parameter (I think it's called Mode - but it should be obvious when you look for it).

Check your Setup Menu - page 1. The FS Mode setting allows you to choose how you want FS5-8 to operate. In ABCD mode these footswitches will switch among the presets in the current bank. In FS5-8 mode these footswitches can be assigned to turn on/off designated FX in the current preset. It sounds like your device may be in FS5-8 mode, and you want ABCD mode.

Show Us Your Dream Rig.
silverhead replied to Django_Oconnell's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Absolutely they will fit the bill. I switched to a pair of L3t's several months ago and won't go to anything else anytime soon. For studio work they immediately replaced my studio monitors (which I still have but rarely use now) and for small gigs they are FAR superior to the portable PA system I had (and have just sold). I also have an L3s which I use for gigs only if there's a bass guitar or drums, but for studio use and practice I leave it disconnected. -
I believe the M13 has a 'true' bypass feature, meaning the input signal can be routed directly to the outputs without modification. The Pod, however, does not provide this. In order for the input signal to reach the outputs, it must at least go through an A/D conversion on entry and a reverse D/A conversion on exit. That's true even if you apply no amp or FX in the signal chain.

I know you prefer to use HD Edit, but let's try to narrow down the problem a bit. Try setting up the presets again, maybe in a new bank (say 2A/B/C), without using HD Edit. Just use the HD500 to tweak the presets. See if the same symptom occurs. The result of that test will tell us whether the issue is with the presets themselves, or with the way HD Edit interacts with the device.

It works exactly as it should - as designed and as advertised. What you mean is '... it is not able to work how I would like it to.' Those are different things.
-
Great - glad your device is not defective.
-
I don't know that the unit is defective, but if you are following all instructions in the manual as you say you are.......... it should be working. Here are a couple of things to check: - System Setup menus, page 1: Set Looper FS to ALL VIEWS - when you engage the Looper, do you see the Looper Display, showing the footswitch functions? If not, either your device is defective or you need to reinstall the firmware. - In the Home Page (Signal Flow View) select the Looper to display its settings. Make sure that the Looper Playback volume is at full. Also, be aware that the Looper has no sense of timing or tempo - it will record anything it hears (including silence) for the interval between the moments that you press the Record and Stop/Play switches. So if you recorded some silence before starting to play, then that's what you will hear at first on the playback.
-
That sounds strange - the Looper should work as documented. Where did you get your device? Can you return/replace it?

How Do I Set Volume Levels For The Different Guitar Model Amps?
silverhead replied to davidmcginnis's topic in JM4 Looper
I'm not familiar with the Spider Jam so can't tell you exactly what options you have re: volume knobs, but the general procedure is: - adjust the Channel, or power amp, volume - not the Drive/Gain or pre-amp volume. The former increases only volume; the latter also affects tonality. - start with the clean sounding tones/presets. Increase their volume to the desired level first, then move on to the dirtier/grittier tones and adjust their levels to balance with the clean tones. Finally, balance your hi-gain and lead tones with the others. -
One Effect Switched On/off By Two Switches (eg. Fs1 + Fs4)
silverhead replied to Germany1's topic in POD HD
An alternative is to use FS Mode ABCD, where FS5 through FS8 control preset/patch switching rather than FX switching. Then set up two different presets with exactly the FX settings you want, and use FS5 to switch the presets as desired. That would achieve your goal of using just one stomp to switch between your desired FX settings. -
Variax And Workbenchhd Won't Connect
silverhead replied to MWolfkiel's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Workbench HD does not work through a POD device. It works only with the Variax/Workbench hardware interface. Make sure you have a 1/4" cable connected to the Variax output jack, and make sure your battery is charged. -
One Effect Switched On/off By Two Switches (eg. Fs1 + Fs4)
silverhead replied to Germany1's topic in POD HD
Can't do that. You can assign multiple FX to the same FS, but not the reverse. I'm curious - why do you want to do that? Is there any advantage to using two FS for the same FX? In what situation would that be useful? -
You may have Tone 2 locked. Check the padlock icon on the bottom row of the Home Page display. Turn the little black knob beneath the icon until it shows unlocked. If that doesn't resolve things you are not saving the Tone(s) properly. The manual provides precise details on how to do what you want. You'll find it in the section on Saving Tones.

Here's another thought. Since it sounds like you have already moved on to another audio interface, and you are keeping your UX-1 just for Pod Farm...... why not sell your UX-1 to at least partially fund the purchase of the h/w independent version of PF?
-
Well, I don't think there is an official discount to upgrade to the h/w independent PF 2.5, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I would call Line 6 and ask nicely. See Contact Us link at the foot of this page. If you were only licensed for Pod Farm 1 (original version) I wouldn't hold out any hope, and even at PF2 you will not likely be successful but it's worth a shot.
-
What version of Pod Farm came bundled with your original UX-1?
-
You can use the UX2 if you want, but you don't need to. You can record directly to Reaper using the HD Bean. Connect the HD to your computer via usb, and configure Reaper to use the Pod HD and its ASIO driver as the audio input/output device. Monitor your sound using the Pod HD outputs (e.g. headphones).
-
The device retains the current setlist between off/on cycles. So the setlist that gets loaded is the one that was active when the device was powered off. There is no 'default' setlist in that sense.
-
The Pod HD can be set to use FS5-8 either to control on/off for FX within a preset, or to switch among presets within the current bank. You cannot use a footswitch to control a parameter value such as drive level/setting; you do that with the exp pedal. However, you can do what you want by using two presets: one with the drive off/low and another with the drive at your desired increased level. All other preset settings remain the same. That way you 'can step on the button and increase the drive'.

I really can't hear any difference. All really hi-gain stuff sounds fizzy to me. Maybe just my ears/age?

Pod Hd500 Latency.
silverhead replied to DjacobCaine's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
You should be using the Line 6 ASIO device driver. In Reaper, configure your audio system settings to use the Pod HD500 and its ASIO driver as the audio input and output device. -
I think there's no need for concern. There is little or no product support going on in Customtone - it is simply a user-populated repository that has no Line 6 moderators. Line 6 has already created (or purchased) the Customtone database and the engine that drives it. That work/expense is already done, and what little maintenance and support is required will be provided as long as there are supported Line 6 products that use it. It would require actual work for Line 6 to remove the legacy presets/tones. And it requires no work to leave them there. So I expect they will remain.

What ASIO driver are you using? How are you monitoring your sound?
