  1. First, you need to be using a dynamic mic. The HD500 does not provide the phantom power that a condenser microphone needs. On the Input Options page, you need to rotate the associated black knob beneath the display to change the parameter settings. Make sure the Inputs Setup is set to PRESET (knob/parameter #4). Then make sure one of the Input Sources (knobs 1 and 2) is set to MIC. Then adjust the Mic Trim knob beside the Mic XLR input until you can hear the microphone input. Then assign your desired amp/FX to the signal path(s).
  2. Every HD500 preset has 2 selectable Input sources. See Setup page 3 - Input Options. Here is the Spanish manual. You should read it. http://line6.com/data/6/0a06434d14bd350917285c8f91/application/pdf/POD%20HD500%20Advanced%20Guide%20v2.10%20-%20Spanish%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf
  3. After reflashing the firmware (which I believe you did to resolve the flashing logo issue) you should also reset the global parameters. http://line6.com/community/docs/DOC-2222
  4. Make sure your HD500 preset is set to use MIC as an input. Adjust the Mic Trim knob on the rear panel of your HD500.
  5. The patch he uses is pretty simple and you could probably create a very similar one quickly. He identifies the 3 FX he's using (EQ pre-mixer, limiter and reverb post) and even talks about their settings. A good starting point, at least.
  6. Ideascale would be the best place to report the manual error, and to suggest a change in behaviour.
  7. There's nothing wrong with respectfully expressing opinions, as you have done here. I've never seen a user here chastised for that. I have seen users chastised for personal attacks against other users.
  8. I had a similar thing happen - restoring a backup was hanging with the same message. I cycled the power anyway, and the restoration automatically began from the beginning again. This time it was successful. During the re-installation I was careful not to touch the M20D at all - especially connect/disconnect cables - and not to play any connected instruments.
  9. But you DO need to buy a VDI cable (Variax Digital Interface) to connect the HD500 to your Variax. https://www.globalfulfillment.net/gfsnet/line6/10Expand.aspx?ProductCode=98-030-0004
  10. Did the presets you replaced use the HD500 Mixer to increase volume? If so, have you duplicated this in the newly-created presets?
  11. Yes, a VDI cable connected to your HD500x will power a Variax, and it will allow provide digital control over your Variax from HD500x stored presets. A seperate cable/power kit for Variax is also available too allow you to avoid needing batteries. This is not connected to your HD500 and offers no digital control.

    Hd500

What device are you using? The title says HD500 but you posted in the thread for earlier, more basic PODs. Assuming it is the HD500, try powering up while holding down the left nav key. Then run Line 6 Monkey to reinstall your firmware.
  14. The manual says: To access the setup pages, press and hold the TAP footswitch then press the MODEL SELECT knob. ... hold (don't release) the TAP switch while pressing Model Select.......
  15. I suggest you start your own, new thread for this. You will get better response than by piggy-backing on this old thread.
  16. Will this help? http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-1488
  17. This makes it a little difficult to help because we don't have much info. If indeed, the settings are all correct then there could be a hardware problem and you will need to take the device (or your computer) in for repair. However it is quite possible that there is a problem with settings or setup, and we will be able to help if we have more info. Please describe exactly your setup - all pieces of equipment you are using - and how you did the installation. Does Line 6 Monkey recognize your HD400? Are you using a separate audio interface? How are you monitoring your sound? What output mode are you using? .... etc., etc.

  19. You can move or copy presets by click/dragging them from one preset slot to another. Use CTRL click/drag to copy, as in other applications. A straight click/drag moves the selected preset and rearranges the others between it and the target destination. Experiment with it - it's easily understood. There is no Delete function - to delete a preset, you replace it with another. Every preset slot must hold a valid preset definition - there is no such thing as a completely empty preset slot; the closest you get is the New Tone factory default preset. But that, too, is a valid preset definition.
  20. Yes, that is normal behaviour. The Master Volume knob cannot be used to control the L6 Link output level. You need to control it using the L2t volume. This can be problematic if you are also using the L2t onboard mixer. Balancing the relative volumes in that case is sometimes easier if you avoid the L6 Link connection. Connect the HD500 audio outputs to the L2t rear panel Line In jacks. That way your HD500 Master Volume is enabled.
  21. Yes, the media player can be stopped and started with a foot switch.
  22. Not directly using Tap Tempo. You can set it manually using bpms and milliseconds by doing the math. For instance, consider setting an 1/8 note at 120 bpm. This defines a quarter-note (a 'beat') to be a half-second (500ms). So an eighth note at that tempo is 250ms. And a dotted eight would be 375ms (if I remember my theory correctly!) Change to a different tempo and you need to recalculate.
  23. Renaming will work. But HD500 presets can also be directly loaded into HD500x Edit, without renaming, by drag/dropping from any folder on your computer into any Edit preset slot.
