So This Is Why Line6 Doesn't Announce Updates....
silverhead replied to RipperShred's topic in POD HD
Exactly right. Managing customer expectations is always difficult, and premature announcements - especially announcing that there will be an announcement - can really come back to bite you. Line 6 has learned their lesson on this and now rarely announces new products or updates until they are ready to go. Of course, that doesn't stop users from speculating and there are threads that get started here routinely, forecasting not only when unannounced new products/updates are thought to be pending but also their features and contents. Some users even manage to persuade themselves that their completely unfounded expectations are reasonable and get upset when they are not met. What's a company to do? -
I would take it back to GC and demand a replacement. They routinely resell as new products that have been returned as flawed.

Have you tried all usb ports on your computer?
-
You may have the wrong version of Pod Farm. The free version that came with your X3 is Version 1. The current is version 2.5. If you run Line 6 Monkey it should help you download and install version 1. Once installed you should have access to all amps and FX again.

I suspect there's a problem with your usb connection. Try a different usb port on your computer, check/test your usb cable, and disconnect any usb hub you may be using. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Line 6 driver on your PC. A a last resort, reinstall your device firmware; don't forget to make backup copies of your presets/setlist first.

Try engaging the hd500 tuner, in bypass mode. Do you still hear the echo?
-
You should disconnect your HD500 analog outputs from your computer Line In jacks. Just use the USB connection. The Pod HD Edit program will recognize the HD500 and use it as the soundcard. Keep monitoring the sound using the HD500 outputs (e.g. headphones).

Do you hear this slapback when the PC is disconnected from the HD500? What program are you using on your PC to receive the HD500 signal?

1. There is no 'delete' function. You delete a patch by overwriting/replacing it with a different patch. The easiest way to do this is to use the editor and drag/drop an 'empty' patch to the location you want to delete. You can create an empty patch, or use the New Tone preset that comes with the User setlists in the factory presets. 2. No - there is no printout capability, nor is there an export capability (e.g. to an Excel spreadsheet). However, some users have created templates to manually enter preset data into a printable file.

I agree with GTLazer. Both of you should return and replace your units.

Try using the X3 ASIO driver instead of asio4all. -
Main Out Level Dropping
silverhead replied to FUMCGJ's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
That would be the second check box. The first would say something like "I hereby indemnify and hold harmless Line 6 from any damage to equipment or persons resulting from excessive volume and feedback." -
You have to do a full reset by reinstalling the firmware. Use line6 monkey to do this. First, make backup copies of the presets/set lists that you want to restore. After reinstalling the firmware you need to reset the global parameters. A quick search of the knowledge base will give you details about how to do these things.

You can make an 'official' feature request here: Line6.ideascale.com
-
No. There is no locking of presets. But you can make backup copies so that you can restore them if mistakes happen.

I'm not sure about this, but I would check my Trim settings in the Setup. I think the recorded signal may be post-Trim, and pre-Level. If so, and if your levels are adjusted higher to compensate for a lower Trim setting then that could result in a low recorded signal. Try increasing your Trim levels and decreasing your channel Levels. .... just a guess.....

I suggest you take it back to GC and replace it with one that you've tested onsite. They seem to make a habit of reselling returned (and even defective) items as new.

Need Help With Dual Patch On Pod Hd Pro (guitar/vox)

http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/caveat+emptor Caveat Emptor [Latin, Let the buyer beware.] A warning that notifies a buyer that the goods he or she is buying are "as is," or subject to all defects. When a sale is subject to this warning the purchaser assumes the risk that the product might be either defective or unsuitable to his or her needs. This rule is not designed to shield sellers who engage in Fraud or bad faith dealing by making false or misleading representations about the quality or condition of a particular product. It merely summarizes the concept that a purchaser must examine, judge, and test a product considered for purchase himself or herself.

Inserting a 'blank' patch is still not true bypass. The signal will still undergo two conversions: A/D on input and D/A on output. The digital signal passing thru the device will simply be unprocessed.
-
Check out what's called the 4-cable connection method (4cm). Do a quick search here and you should find info about it. The HD500 is not true bypass. Engaging the HD500 Tuner (put the tuner in Bypass mode) is an effective bypass technique.

I think you may be over-thinking things here. Pick up your guitar and turn the Vol knob down. Glance at the volume levels on your pod and amp. Do they look roughly as they did when you last used them. If so, slowly turn up your guitar and go. If necessary or desired, adjust the pod and amp levels. Avoid excessive volume that would blow your amp speaker.
-
Personally, I check my levels (guitar, pod and PA) before banging out a note or chord. Yes, you could damage your speaker if not your amp with excessive volume. And you will find the manual in the product manuals section. Takes about 10 seconds to get it on your computer for easy reference.

Main Out Level Dropping
silverhead replied to FUMCGJ's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
That is normal behaviour. I guess the thinking is that a Setup is generally configured and saved with reference to a specific set of instruments in a specific venue/room. Hence, a change in Setup will load a configuration that may not be appropriate for the current set of instruments and room (volume, feedback, etc...). Accordingly the Mains Out is zeroed so that the user can proceed with caution and avoid an immediate unpleasant incident with excessive volume/feedback. -
Recording Help!
silverhead replied to heath49036's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Yes - but you can only use one of the devices as your audio interface at any given time. If you use your Mbox as the audio interface you would not connect the HD500 via usb to your computer. You would connect the HD500 outputs to your Mbox and then record using your Mbox as usual. You could use either the analog or s/pdif outputs from the HD500. If you want to use the HD500 as your audio interface you would connect it via usb to your computer and you would not use the Mbox at all. You would record directly into your DAW from the HD500.- 1 reply
