Just build your patches and set up your foot switches (to turn on and off your FX blocks) to get the sounds you want. Use HDEdit to make it easier. -B
-
Another way is to try out some Custom Tone tones. It might take a few to get ones you like, but when you do use HDEdit to see how the patch was constructed and pay attention to the EQing.

POD XT Live and USB
BillBee replied to santeciafardoni's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Look in the center of the usb port and see if the little black square is in the middle still. It happens on some of the ports and won't allow the cable to line up with the pins. The USB cables are pretty generic so a Line 6 one is not really needed. -
You are better off sending an email to Line 6 and see what they can do.

You will find the templates a big help. For high gain stuff I was using a similar EQ chain and made a template (basically a generic patch). Clean and semi clean too. If you find a tone you like save it and rename then tweak away. ........... and once in a while copy everything over to a flash drive. Had a hard drive die and took everything with it a few years back.

Good luck my man and I hope you enjoy the HD series as much as I. A buddy of mine was running his Digitech RP250 through a 60 watt Cube and it sounded great when mic'd for the PA (I don't remember the amp model though). Just dial it in as clean as you can and let your ears be the judge. Being on an island would have a few drawbacks I guess :) -B

In a small local band I just grab the Power Engine 60 and go. When there are 4-6 bands on a bill its get on the stage and bail off (with gear) asap. The 4x12 was just unneeded, too heavy and too loud for the stage. I agree that a stack adds a certain visual charm but if its being mic'd for the PA I couldn't see the point. Sound guys loved the set-up and never a had a complaint about the tone. Sound-guys have you by the balls though and I bristle at poor sound checks (being rushed through or none) where the stage monitors are not leveled to my satisfaction. I took to using an amp stand so I could have it pointing up where I could always move in towards the "amp" if needed. As an opener at one show the soundguy began adjusting levels quite agressively and at one point I had all but dropped out of the mix. That was fun thinking I pulled a cable out. :) Ringing ears = bad. Kind of like a guitarist's concussion. -B

I usually run the HD into the "in" of the amp's FX loop (or use a Tech 21 PE 60 which is basically the same thing). Sounds great to me. The only time I've used it going in the front is with small practice amps that didn't have a fx loop. I just dial the amps tone flat with no gain to get it as neutral as it will go. Sounds ok, but it is only for small room practice. Everything is set to Studio Direct. I can't comment much on the 4CM as I rarely use it. -B

windows 10 problem 500x devicemanager???
BillBee replied to oscarwigander's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
You need to download a copy of "HD Edit for the 500x" and install that. -
Here is an awesome post by Spaceatl on the 4cm for the HD Bean. I owe him some beer for coming up with this. :) http://line6.com/support/topic/2177-4-cm-the-hd-pod-bean-oh-yes-this-works/ -B

Is it the gigantic FBV with the green display or the older one with the numeric red one? There were two "long boards" and sometimes people get them confused. But its possible that the wrong cable was plugged in - I think the bad one is called a "cross over" where the plug is the same but the wiring is different and it sends juice to the wrong pin and it usually fries something. The FBV/FBX Green display usually works with most of the new stuff - though some buttons have no function. The old Red (basically old Pod 2 digit) one is for the old V1 - 1st version V2 pods. -B

POD XT Pro--Getting Started
BillBee replied to Matyrker's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Its been a while since I fired up the ole XT Pro but isn't there a IO button on the front right? But a few things to try prior to going through all the firmware re-installation hassle would be: check the tuner for signal (should be the first thing a signal would hit), there may be a "input" jack in the rear of the unit (IIRC) in case the front one is bad, check the "pad" switch right side bottom, then try it with headphones. There are a bunch of options and hopefully its something simple. Hope that helps. B -
There is no "download" it is an authorization allowing the device or Pod Farm to use them. For example an Pod XT would go through the L6 License Manager and you would see a screen doing the authorization (or installation) to the unit itself. After it is done, upon rebooting the model packs would be seen in the splash screen at start up. There is a menu option too to scroll to them (IIRC) but I can't remember it off hand. -B

Love the HD Bean myself and the only thing to look into is picking up a FBV controller. I use an older MKI (as I already had it and don't use the looper). You don't need the model packs to get great sounds but after you have learned the device's ins and outs it is something to consider. Just take it slow, read a lot of the forums older posts and be sure to ask questions. Welcome to the forums too btw! -Bill

If you have the $ the HD series is great for recording, is still supported and can be bought new (meaning warranty). I still play and use the XT/X3 series too but the HD expansion packs let my favorite X3 amps return (in the HD series) so the XT/X3 stuff is not used as much (jamming and such mainly now). BUT if you are new to MFX and editing them, the XT/X3s are IMO easier to use. The HD does have a longer yet more rewarding curve. :) Please note: None of my opinions are taking into consideration Win10 which people are having some issues with. Hope that helps. Bill

I would recommend trying a replacement power supply first.... then go here and scroll to the bottom for the Safe Mode Reflash directions: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-x3/pod-x3-series-factory-reset-reflash-and-firm-r412 Don't save your presets in case one is corrupted (hopefully thay are backed up already). I still see the V1.0 Firmware up there for downloading too btw. Hope that helps ya but it "might" be a hardware issue. -B

why does the license manager not let me add patches
BillBee replied to miguelacuna87's topic in POD X3
The L6 License Manager shouldn't affect the editing and loading of patches. You need to get a copy of Gearbox from the download area and use that for the editing and transfer of patches. Welcome to the forums too btw. :) -B -
Studio UX1 - input/output issues
BillBee replied to bregulan's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Try going into Pod Farm and clicking the +16 (or 18 or something like that) db button, should be in the mixer view. Don't have PF with me so I am guessing where it is. But if I remember right this helped me with the UX2. Some amps need to be cranked to get the levels up. Hope that does the trick. -B -
I can give a ditto on the HD500 vs the HD500X but only on price. I don't hit the DSP wall too often but there are times when the extra would have been nice. One option is to try the HD500 and get used to the unit and see if its something you are going to stick with (its not for everyone). Learn the functions, editor and see if its for you. If you love it and find you need the extra DSP sell it and upgrade or keep it as backup. -B

So when do you think we can expect Windows 10 Drivers?
BillBee replied to hl2oli's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
No you are not alone in your opinion. With any OS update I like to sit back and let some time pass to see what works and what doesn't. I remember the Apple fiasco of last year. This is quite similar. -B -
Windows 10 Not picking up UX2 output
BillBee replied to IsaacPBrown's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Cool Chief, Then you might be headed into the Device Manager or whatever it is now to check what device is being actively used when the UX2 is plugged in (the enable/disable shuffle). It should switch to the UX2 but one never knows with windows.
