http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/76165/ Hopefully they will add a lfetime fix clause if it keeps happening.

The Amazing Slowdowner is a good audio one. You can loop sections, slow down and even change pitch. When it comes time to pick out a song that has no tab it is my tool of choice if things get tricky.

Well my man you just have to put your time in. I was giving lessons to a friend who is ~ 50 and he would talk the same. It sounds bad, I just want to jam and play. Well there is no real shortcut to learning the basics - I had him basically sit down for 15 - 20 minutes every practice and do 1) fingering exercises then the pentatonic scale in 1st position (minor) then second, etc. It allowed him to get the muscle memory going and fretboard knowledge to not only play some licks but also know why and where they fit. There is a lot of baby steps that need to happen to get up and running. After that its just taking the ball and running with it. BTW have you ever heard Buddy Guy or SRV play Mary had a Little Lamb. :) If fingering exercises get too boring, do what I do, I unplug and mindlessly do them while watching the tube or a game. -Bill

I wouldn't be surprised if it took you hours and days, into weeks, leading to months to try and tweak the standard amps into the HD Packs (or something close). When the Packs for the XT came out yeah you could get close to some but never quite get it, best $ was nabbing the packs on sale. The above thread link is more of a "eh" than a "wow". IMO of course. -B

Whew! I understand the argument well, glad the fbv survived!

Its soldered on the HDs MoBo. Something like this: http://www.fullcompass.com/product/429488.html?utm_source=googleps&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=googleps&gclid=CNnnkfGZ-cUCFdYXHwod03QAcA I would listen to Charlie too, the port is one thing the chipset is another whole level of hell. -B

It looks like the center plug of the usb port. I am suprised it works but cool. -B Edit - cool it works not that it came out btw.

I use an XT Live a lot still and just use a power amp myself and it sounds good to me. I would set the output to studio direct and work from there. A FRFR monitor should sound good - mind you you may have to play with the EQ too. Not knowing what tone you are going for clean/dirty/metal it is tough to really say but the XT has enough options to get what you want. -B

B'wahaha!!! Nice...........

Dude I loved the Elric Saga!! Long time Moorcock fan (I said Moorcock heh heh heh). -B

The users wanted the XT/X3 amp models and L6 released them as model packs. L6 has been cool to me over the years and actually responds when I have asked questions and think the service has been cool with regards to fixing bugs. Your brush paints a unfair broad stroke but you are entitled to it. -B

Not sure my man, have you tried just downloading pod farm directly from L6?

Isn't that the truth - my amp guy has two prices: one for a repair and one for fixing someone else's bad repair. :) -B

I hear ya, wasn't recommending it but throwing it as an example (poor one I will admit). But WD40 has been used on a bunch on GNXs and has worked. I wouldn't use it personally though. I am sure there are some UK people who know of a product. \m/ B \m/

Sweet - It does look like a real good book! Thanks Duncann! -Bill

Oooo in the ole US DeOxit is ~ $12. You could always try calling a repair centre for electronics and ask what they use. But Cruisinon is right. I've read where people have used WD40 with a certain amount of success. -B

Just wrapping up the Complete Works of Sherlock Holmes. I don't get a lot of reading time so these fit in pretty well if I have a gap of a week or so. Last year I was on a Warhammer 40K Novel marathon - pretty much Military Sci-Fi in a grim future. :) -Bill

Awesome post Ed. That is what I meant about it takes some time :) But if it comes down to one's ears - it may never sound "good" to one person but is awesome to another. Good Luck! Bill

Has anybody uploaded clean, crunch and heavy patches for ALL the HD amps?
BillBee replied to barneybrown's topic in POD HD
Arislaf upload a bunch of great tones - last week I think (Thanks BTW Love the Doctor Doctor one!!) - so its real easy to drop and drag the tones in HD Edit to make your own. -Bill -
A) Not sure what kind of distortion you are going for BUT if its anything in the area of metal a SC Tele is not going to do it. B) You just got it today & there is going to be a learning curve with regards to EQs and the fizz. Go DL a copy of HD Edit and learn how to create your tones, you might be suprised. -B

When you do the pedal calibration - for "heel down" try to leave a tiny tiny bit of downtravel left (ie: not flush) - I have gotten the 3 - 255 and 13 - 255 etc... and the wee gap took care of it for me. -B
-
I don't think you need a signal to do the calibration. Its all footswtich position and button pushing. -B
-
One thing you may consider is.... (if you have to send it in for repair "just for the looper") if that is the only issue and its not under warrenty, you might want to use the cash to get a real looper pedal. Boss, Digitech, etc..... Just saying ;) -B

Hey there thought I would pitch me $0.02 at you. :) I've been using the XT/X3 line for years and like yourself have loved the models and options. I just got around to installing the HD Model packs and all in all to my ears the XT/X3 amps sound better with the HD. There are more EQ options which really open things up and the FX sound more lush. That said I also nabbed a replacement X3L (for my dead one) as its still a metal machine. I doubt L6 will do a full migration as the HD has so much already and the XT/X3s are non-supported legacy products. But that is all my opinion. -Bill

I like the Rocktron Velocity series. I've used a 120 for a while and it sounds good through a 2x12 - I used it with an XT Pro (and other rack stuff for years). Weight? Depends on the rack case. That said - currently I'm chugging through a Tech 21 Power Engine 60. To me it sounds sweet, its 33 lbs and will blast a drummer. :) -B
