While my beloved X3L is (RIP) my trusty XTL still does this on occassion. Knob Jitter and it is a PITA. Assuming that you have the problem due to dirty pots/encoders (dust, etc) here is what I do. With the unit off: Knob goes 20-30 turns left, then 20 - 30 turns right. Repeat once if needed. That should help if its just dust and thingies in there. -B

Great post. I ran into something like that a month ago. I like the old ESP H series guitars, nothing fancy but I love the necks and usually shove something with names like Duncan or Dimarzio in them. To me sound the sound is what I like but after a set it was suprising to get ragged on for having a POS when I should have been using the Ernie Ball MM I had behind me. Different story when I said "no its the old beater OLP for emergency". I took the logo off the Tech 21 PE 60 and things were good till I mentioned well there are no tubes in it. Ugh..... At least in my case they were drunk :) -B

Line 6 Software Problem
BillBee replied to wishalsahb's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Off the cuff it could be that the flash memory went corrupt. My rule of thumb is to try the cheapest fix first and work from there. 1) Try a different power supply 2) If you don't have one go here and try a reflash of the memory: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-20-podxt-family-pocket-pod-floorpods/pod-xt-series-factory-reset-reflash-and-firm-r491 3) If that fails go borrow a power supply and try it. 4) Looks like a support ticket for repair might be needed. Hope you get it working. -B- 1 reply

Good Tips all of the above. I usually do the low amp volume level check then a high volume one. One thing is to try and record your playing during a set on stage. This lets you hear how you sit in the mix (assuming the sound dude is somewhat decent) IMO EQ can affect what we hear as volume when it is just a frequency we are not competing for. Or the trusty "Wife - Meter" for when the patch volume hits a certain Db triggering remote curses from the adjacent room :) -B

Why does American Punk always load?
BillBee replied to 357mag's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Hey Man, I know what you are saying but I just gave up on it myself. IIRC there might be an .ini file or something that needs to be altered. It might be a read only for startup but it has been soooo long and I never followed up to see what exactly the reason was. -B -
Hey man - welcome to the forums. Dump Edit and grab a copy of Line 6 Gearbox which is the newer editor for the XTs. -B

Hey there, With the XT series you can "to an extent" change the order but only pre/post for some fx (mod, delay) and the volume control. So it is pretty limited compared to an HD but still enough to make some good tones. Check out page 1-6 of the manual and it will give you a visual signal flow graphic. Hope that helps! Bill

Oh I here you on the delay in patch switching. I used to use a GNX 3000 and I had got to the point where I had it timed out where I would step on the switch just prior to where I needed it. :) For $100 you have a win win. -B

No problem my man - we've all been there (I still love my RP1000 too). IIRC there are not that many differences in pod version patches so they "should" open right up. I had the V1 but did the chip replacement eeesh 16 years ago or so. Here is a link to the old eprom upgrade: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-20-podxt-family-pocket-pod-floorpods/eprom-upgrade-and-faq-r444 and no I have not seen any of those for sale in years (and years) :) TBH there are some users that prefer the V1 tones. I still use the Pod 2.0, Pro and Floorpods on occasion - not so much as modelers but as a great multiFX unit to dial in solid generic tones. -B

It will go smooth. Only issue most people run into is the pc connection with the usb/midi adapter. But if you run into any probs pop back here and they should be able to get sorted out. -B

http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/55422/ Check that thread out my man - it should help steer you in the correct direction. IIRC the XTL can send a set of standard CCs but you really cannot change or remap them. I've not used the XTL as a controller but have used a few midi pedals for an XT - which is different from what you are looking to do. -B

I'd like to overwrite the unwanted presets
BillBee replied to 357mag's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Esssh my man. AFAIK its a one by one job. You can always fireup Gearbox and it should at least make it faster. Blank preset (to me) no amp model all fx off or if you have certain settings you use as a base make patch templates (clean, rock, metal, etc...) to save some time later. -B- 1 reply

My understanding is that they are pretty much the same - V1 vs V2. IMO they should work fine. While I have done the patch shuffle many times with no issues I haven't actually checked the firmware version and it has been with me for quite a while :) Don't know about the flextone II option. Hope that helps. Bill

I've used a Valvestate Head on occasion and it does sound real good - into either a 4x12 or 2x12. Bottom line is most any will sound good but you will have to put some time in adjusting the patches and output settings per rig. -B

Hey There, I hate to say this but if you have tried all the usual fixes (ie: power supply, reflashing) it is something that should be looked at by a pro. Chances are high that something went south and needs replacing. I would pop a support ticket: http://line6.com/support/tickets/ But chances are you will be directed to a repair center. -B

Oh man do I know this, really more so for perceived volume levels of semi cleans vs. full distortion. I can crank it up in the basement to test levels but until the full band is wailing away I can't hear where in the mix the tones will sit (and at what volume) and its a PITA to try and EQ on the fly. My hopes are like Palico's in that the Global EQ should help.
