  1. I bet he didn't see that coming!! har har..
  2. Hey Brazz-meister! I hear-ya I have a few repaired headstocks and a few with some wood missing - sometimes when "the bloom is off the rose" the real fun can begin :) BTW - yes I use guitar stands all the time now - lesson learned! -B
  3. I think that with a good two part epoxy and some heavy duty clamping it will be strong as an ox. Its really the PITA (& heartbreaking) that comes with the damage. I am hoping that when joined and clamped like a mofo any seam will be near invisable. On the plus side at least the internals are good as its tough to fix those with glue :) Good Luck and I hope the fix is perfect! Bill
  4. I didn't hear anything about the noise gates. I tend to agree with you and try to use them minimally but that said 9/10 there has to be one in the chain.
  5. At least the cheese and whine has been served. HD Update, Ideascale ideas implemented, Model Packs to be had. Its a win-win as far as I can see. -B
  6. One of my fave el'cheapo's is an OLP MM1 just comfortable and stays in tune - even the stock pickups sound nice. The tonality of wood is a sticky wicket of discussion where subjective will battle with scientific. I agree with Nico and "believe" that the guitar as a whole affects the resonance and tonality. I've swapped loaded pickguards on a 74 and 76 Strats a long time ago. One had a really heavy body the other pretty light (both maple necks). With nothing else changed there was tone and sustain change - through the same Vibro Champ amp (its been too long for me to remember which was which). But all in all its MHO :) -B
  7. With Bjnette - I actually find I can dial in better tones with less gain which at LOUD volumes is soo much better for the rock/metal tunes. Full gain sounds great in the bedroom through a 8-10" speaker but bigger than that it tends to send everything into mush. For bias (and the others) I'll head to the basement and fire up something larger (2x12 or so) and play a little adjust a little and see what I like (IIRC ~ 11 o'clock) - that said switching guitars will throw things off a bit. -B
  8. The big bottom amp was always one of my favorites and I am stoked for a 5150 - hell all of them. Can't wait to here the HD versions of them. Even the JC will be nice and welcome to the fold. -B
  9. I wonder if the packs will be the first step towards a PodFarm HD. -B
  10. Be sure to check out: http://line6.com/support/topic/11548-line-6-yamaha-press-releases-from-namm/ The updates and packs look exceptionally promising. -B
  11. I will run sag down to 0 when doing a tight rhythm tone and will ramp it up like Bvaladez74. Bias I fiddle around with but I can't say I have a standard setting - I "ear it". -B
  12. Oooo man I feel giddy..... its been a while since a Press Release got me geeked! I can feel the GAS building (in a good way)! -Bill
  13. Bwahahaha!!!!! Awesome..... stuff! Donkey balls wahahaha!!! Thanks!!! Bill
  14. My man - the Flextones are a great amp and I would say take it in for service. It will beat zapping yourself or doing further damage. -B
  15. Big question did it work on a computer before your buddy sold it to you? If yes then follow what Triryche said. Remember do not use a usb hub. What is your system? -B
  16. The model packs are worth every penny as it will expand the XT to a (single chain) X3. You can use the packs with PodFarm and XT Live etc. The license manager will keep any torrented packs (if that is even possible) off the XT. That said the XT can do much without them. -B
  17. Hmmm I would say try adding an Exciter to the end of the chain as it will put sparkle in it. But that said Exciters seem to be abused :) Fflbrsts suggestion is one that some people have tried so give that puppy a shot. I do have an old Spider II which really won't take any pedal but a modulation up front. -B
  18. To the OP! No shame in that game my man! Your ears know best and sometimes it takes a bit of searching for that peice of the puzzle to be found. Good Hunting! -Bill
  19. Hey There, on a G5 - I have noticed that you have to go into the Global panel and try the different output modes (Studio Direct, Power Amp, etc..). I don't have a Spider IV but its what I have adjusted for a Power Engine 60 and various small practice amps. You can also try switching cabs on the amp models if the above doesn't cut it. -B
  20. If you have access to a spare expression pedal I would test that with the MKII just to see what's what. I don't like to reflash unless I have too. I don't have a Mission EP1 but if there is a pot inside those can wear in spots (brushes?). -B
  21. Hmmmm windows control panel sees the UX2? I am still using XP but Win7 should be similar so.... Go to the device manager see where the UX2 is in there (usb devices or similar, sound device) and IIRC you can use the update driver manually and point it to the L6 folder which has all the drivers in it (program files/line 6/,,,, something...). I'm not at home so I can't be specific but I have had to do this before myself. Hope that works, Bill Edit: forgot to add when in doubt shoot a support ticket at L6. You never know as the flashing clip lights are not a good sign. If you could try it on a different PC. http://line6.com/support/tickets/
  22. I agree as its got what I need but there is nothing wrong with value added. Considering some of the issues which have cropped up over the years it would be cool to reflash and see hmmmm... a 5150 model for example :) To me Its all good as long as its stable and the footswitches work. How many days to NAMM? :P -B
  23. The PE 60s are pretty nice and at 33 lbs are sweet. The sound IMO is really good and it has an XLR out to chain them together or out to a mixer. Personally running two in stereo is nice at home but out of the house I can't tell a difference between mono and stereo as far as sound quality. That said I've ran an X3 into an old Peavey Bandit (FX in loop), Valvestates, Crates..... you name it. The only thing is you have to play with is the EQ and output modes to compensate for differences in speakers, cabs... etc. A tube power amp with the X3 is awesome and can really bring out extra dynamics but (for my back and wallet) a good SS power amp/cab does the job really well. -B
