  1. I got my Helix at Bax shop in the Netherlands, they give standard 3 Year warrenty. So please don't whine for two years in the Netherlands!
  2. Maybe the send/return of Helix is set to line level, which is too hot (+4 dBu)? I think in this case you need to set it to instrument level (-20 dBu) in global settings. http://www.ovnilab.com/articles/linelevel.shtml
  3. I'm prabably going for the ART DTI. It's very versatile and also protects the Helix from damage if you connect to a desk where the phantom is already turned on. Apparently that can damage things. The DTI has a transformer isolator which protects from that kind of thing. On the other hand I might follow PerterHamm's idea of reversing things. I'm doing it the way I am because I use the Helix for a few effects on my voicemice and it seemed logical to feed the microphone signal to the desk throuhg XLR. I guess I could also use 1/4" out and use DI. Then I would use XLR out to my Firehawk 1500. What do you think would be best?
  4. I've been looking to get an answer to this question for some time: Does a DI box block phantom power coming from the mixing table to the Helix?
  5. Go to the "problem" snapshot, activate the EXP2 by pressing the toe switch and save the snapshot. It seems you might have switched to EXP1 at some time and saved the snapshot.
  6. I also started with only Helix cabs and after 6 months or so decided to give ir a chance. Actually they all sounded really horrible so I forgot about them, wondering what I was doing wrong. Since most people on this forum are wild about them. Than after another couple of months tried again. At first I was blown away, the ir teally sounded much better (never found out why the were crap the first time). But then I found that de ir was much louder than the Helix cab and knowing that louder often sounds better I adjusted the cab to match the Helix cab. Then all the magic went away. It still sounded good but really not better than the Helix cab. In the end I decided it wasn't worth the bother for me. I agree. Being able to use ir greatly enhances the possible choices and thats absolutely great! But in my opinion the Helix cabs are just as good or at least really good enough. Try the volume matching and judge for yourself!
  7. I just posted the idea of going back to last saved value on Ideascale: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Push-parameter-knob-resets-to-last-saved-value/896850-23508?submitted=1
  8. I agree but personally I would like pushing the knob would return it to the last saved value instead of factory default. Sometimes I start adjusting something and find I want to go back to where it was but don't remember. Other times I accidentally adjust a setting and want o return to what it was. Maybe use a double click for returning to last saved value, for consistency with previous functionality? That would in my opinion be very useful.

    Helix Noise

I just installed powerline network adapters in my home. I had to, the wifi signal just won't get though the floor strong enough! Then my Lex Bos SuperDrive started makeing really weird noise (clicking and somewhat rithmic heavy white noises). The Lex Bos operates on two 12AX7 tubes so at first I thought it was those (the network adapters didn't occur to me directly). I sent an email with sound clip to Lex, who has the best service you can imagine, and he also thought it could be a tube. Then it dawned on me! These adapters are great but they really foul up your power lines!
  10. Firehawk 1500 sounds great at all levels. That's the great thing about FRFR. Although you do need some different IQing at different volume levels due to the Fletcher Munson thingy ;)
  11. YES! I use this for a preset. Now I need to switch to stomp mode to get the feature. Not a disaster in this case because i could get all needed features for this song in Stomp Mode but having it in Snapshot mode would lift a lot of restrictions.
  12. My Helix has a broken Page button. I had it for 1,5 year now. Then I just discovered that BAX Shop give a standard 3 year guaranty! I'm a happy camper!
  13. Voted! Better than using some shorted piece of hardware
  14. Fair enough. I use autoengage but don't like it that it turns off when I don't want it to. Setting a longer time makes it impassible to precisely time when it does turn off when I want it to. You're right we need to work around the limitations.
  15. How would that be nice? You would constantly need to keep the pedal moving for it not to disengage. Wouldn't that be extremely limiting and irritating?
  16. My Bad, sorry. You need to then set the "Bypass assign"to none. Voila! :)
  17. That's what I did. It was just a quick and dirty experiment and I planned to make it a bit better nut never came round to it. Then the fix came so I didn't need it anymore. I remember the problem now. The state of the Expression pedal wasn't saved in a snapshot. That messed things up sometimes. With the fix the pedal just stayed on EXP1 and the switch just turned the effect on and off.
  18. No, it was another bug that came up when snapshots were introduced. Anyway, it doesn't matter. The workaround works fine, there will only be EXP1 and the toe switch won't do anything.
  19. Actually you can use a shorted dummy plug or cable. I used one until some bug was sorted out. Can't really remember what the bug was precisely (Alzheimer beta version ;-)
  20. I'm sorry to say that you have been doing it wrong all the time. The HD500X DOES have a switch under the Expression pedal! So does Helix, of course.
  21. Yes, please elaborate! I also have a hiss and would love to know how to solve the problem
  22. What happens if you connect a Helix 1/4" to the guitar in (no effects on in FH) and also have two XLR's from Helix connected to monitor in (left and right) of FH? Does this activate all speakers? Does this also work with the FH settings turned to mono?
  23. I had some terrible noise in a certain venue once with my Ibanez RG with two humbuckers and a single coil in the middle. The noise was considerably less with the humbuckers but still way too loud. The I got a tip from some guy there to place a wire from the ground plate of the pickups to the ground of the volume pot (if I remember correctly). So, an hour before the first set I took it apart and attached some wires the best I could without soldering. It really helped a lot. It wasn't quiet afterwards but it was OK for the night. Afterwards I redid it neatly with soldering and also covered the whole cavity with copper tape (the pick guard was already covered with aluminum and the cavity was covered with shielding paint). Now it's much better in that venue. be it still not completely silent.
  24. That's just so cool! And what an amazing looking guitar! I love Ibanez guitars and having seen one being made is fantastic. I realise my Ibanez guitars are nowhere near this class but still. Thanks for sharing!
