  1. I run my mic uot of the Helix to the board through XLR. I rout to the Firehawk via 1/4" to the guitar in (using an empty patch in the Firehawk). I then go from the XLR out from the Firehawk to the table. Last gig I experimented with using the Firehawk as my monitor by putting it in front of me using the stand. THis worked fantastically! I had great sound from the Firehawk and in the hall they had great sound from the table. In this case you could probably also have your mic going through the Firehawk but I don't see any reason to. I would rather keep the monitor in free for when there aren't enough monitors in a venue, then I can use the Firehawk as a monitor for the whole band, including my mic.
  2. Wow, that's amazing! You're a lucky man. Yeah I miss his father as well. I started a Zappa band called Absolutely Frank almost 2 years ago. Just had our first two small gigs! We really love playing Franks music but we'r nowhere near Dweezil, of course.
  3. Yeah, I saw the Dweeze in Utrecht on the 17th of October! It was absolutely amazing! He has really developed so much it ain't funny. His presentation is also really good these days. The band is phenomenal. The new singer/guitar player is great, a much better fit than the former singer which I didn't really like. He was a good singer but somehow didn't fit with this music IMHO. The new female singer is off the planet, I want to marry her! It was definitely one of the best concerts I have even seen. You?
  4. Lets turn it into a Frank Zappa discussion again! :D
  5. When i use the Wah with auto engage function I notice a problem. I have the wah turn off at heel down position (0%) and engage at 1% The wait parameter is set at 1000ms (1 second) When I rock the footpedal back and forth, never being at heel down position for 1second, the wah still turns off every now and then. This is really annoying. Does anyone else experience this? Is there a way to avoid this? Is it a bug?
  6. I think it would be a very heavy (35 Kg) effects modeler. You might like to try the Firehawk FX or even better a Helix (LT). Then you can also control the effects
  7. I think the idea is that part of the sigan (dry) is unaffected by the wet effects (delay, reverb and such). This makes the endresult more defined
  8. Can you tell us more about the procedure?
  9. What happens when you do this with the FH1500 in mono mode?
  10. I have tried, it sounded great. But I have no idea which speakers are then active or not. I haven't been able to get a clear answer to this. Hopefully someone will shed some light this time?
  11. I have the same problem pasting amp blocks from one patch to the other in Editor, really weird. I have discovered that it then still works on the Helix itself, So I just do the past on the Helix after right click-copy on the PC. It never fails so it'sa fine workaround but there's something wrong!
  12. Dude, what did you do with the footswitches? Looks really cool! And why did you exchange the Volume and Phones knobs?
  13. I use a few patches where I blend an overdriven amp and a signal chain with an acoustic guitar ir and the mic pre amp, no cab. This gives the tone a very distinct attack from the acoustic guitar. Really nice!
  14. I got my Helix at Bax shop in the Netherlands, they give standard 3 Year warrenty. So please don't whine for two years in the Netherlands!
  15. Maybe the send/return of Helix is set to line level, which is too hot (+4 dBu)? I think in this case you need to set it to instrument level (-20 dBu) in global settings. http://www.ovnilab.com/articles/linelevel.shtml
  16. I'm prabably going for the ART DTI. It's very versatile and also protects the Helix from damage if you connect to a desk where the phantom is already turned on. Apparently that can damage things. The DTI has a transformer isolator which protects from that kind of thing. On the other hand I might follow PerterHamm's idea of reversing things. I'm doing it the way I am because I use the Helix for a few effects on my voicemice and it seemed logical to feed the microphone signal to the desk throuhg XLR. I guess I could also use 1/4" out and use DI. Then I would use XLR out to my Firehawk 1500. What do you think would be best?
  17. I've been looking to get an answer to this question for some time: Does a DI box block phantom power coming from the mixing table to the Helix?
  18. Go to the "problem" snapshot, activate the EXP2 by pressing the toe switch and save the snapshot. It seems you might have switched to EXP1 at some time and saved the snapshot.
  19. I also started with only Helix cabs and after 6 months or so decided to give ir a chance. Actually they all sounded really horrible so I forgot about them, wondering what I was doing wrong. Since most people on this forum are wild about them. Than after another couple of months tried again. At first I was blown away, the ir teally sounded much better (never found out why the were crap the first time). But then I found that de ir was much louder than the Helix cab and knowing that louder often sounds better I adjusted the cab to match the Helix cab. Then all the magic went away. It still sounded good but really not better than the Helix cab. In the end I decided it wasn't worth the bother for me. I agree. Being able to use ir greatly enhances the possible choices and thats absolutely great! But in my opinion the Helix cabs are just as good or at least really good enough. Try the volume matching and judge for yourself!
  20. I just posted the idea of going back to last saved value on Ideascale: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Push-parameter-knob-resets-to-last-saved-value/896850-23508?submitted=1
  21. I agree but personally I would like pushing the knob would return it to the last saved value instead of factory default. Sometimes I start adjusting something and find I want to go back to where it was but don't remember. Other times I accidentally adjust a setting and want o return to what it was. Maybe use a double click for returning to last saved value, for consistency with previous functionality? That would in my opinion be very useful.

    Helix Noise

I just installed powerline network adapters in my home. I had to, the wifi signal just won't get though the floor strong enough! Then my Lex Bos SuperDrive started makeing really weird noise (clicking and somewhat rithmic heavy white noises). The Lex Bos operates on two 12AX7 tubes so at first I thought it was those (the network adapters didn't occur to me directly). I sent an email with sound clip to Lex, who has the best service you can imagine, and he also thought it could be a tube. Then it dawned on me! These adapters are great but they really foul up your power lines!
  23. Firehawk 1500 sounds great at all levels. That's the great thing about FRFR. Although you do need some different IQing at different volume levels due to the Fletcher Munson thingy ;)
