Title says: Make FX loop great again. They should! Here is how: Having experiented a bit with the FX loop and trying a lot of things. There is so much wrong with it. You wanna have a FXloop for on of your Gainpedals infront of your digital amp? Noise You wanna have a OD Pedal before your digital Distortion Pedal which also is in front of your digital Amp? Even more Noise You wanna extend your HX (Stomp or Effekts probally) with hardware Pedals cause your preset its allready packed full? wakwaaaak Your FXloop also requiers Blocks which takes space from your overall preset. Sadly, if you think you can "upgrade" the capabilitys of your effects of stomp your mistaken. Idk what it is with Send/return or Loop blocks. pretty sure it wont take much DSP away from anything. We have come so far. Since Update 3.0 we enjoy 8 instead of 6 Block in HX Stomp and Effects. Fix to get more out of the HX: Whouldnt it be great to get Send/Return or Loop Blocks there own sort of thing? Like the Signal Split. We can allready to it, it takes no block. I whould love to see Line6 implement 1 free FXLoop or 1 free set of Send/Return in non Helix hardware with limited Blocks. Just like the Signal Split. --- And that noise.... Its pretty much unusable if you plan on using an Amp within HX and use Hardware OD oder SD. Digital OD and SD are fine. And thats really a shame. Not even the best Gate Pedal with 4cm will help you with that. Since it only takes to block with no hardware signal chain attached to throw white noise at you like nothing else. Can we talk also about FXLoop in Stereo. If you plan on using the Stereo Loop with a Splitter cable to get FX L and R at the same time... yea, you get that. But one Signal chain will be left, the other right. Giving terrible phasing problems. Pretty much unusable that way. Fix for phasing?: Why is it that you dont have a option to make both inputs Mono instead of one R one L stereo. So you can have both of your signalchains but the just produce mono sound. Ofc you want that stereo stuff for delays or something like that. But the raw signal with OD. we dont need stereo for that. Point 1 and 2 combined "Fix": Imagin not having a Send/Return/Loop Right and Left in the first place. Why not having just Send/Return/Loop and let us choose L/R in the setting of the block. That whould mean if you want to create a Preset with 2 different loops, Left and right, you can change them via Snapshot or Button. you have your X Pedal active and wanna switch snapshots and get your X Pedal off the Signalchain and add your Y Pedal. If its an option to select which Channel you wanna have its an instand win. Leave the Trials in peace and you can have 2 signal chains for the price of one. Overall i love my Stomp. But im just so disapointed of the FXloop. Its just a hassle and you litterly gain nothing from it. You actually loose more then you gain, since you cant adress normal pedals via Midi and can only have 1 loop at a time despite having the capabilitys for having 2. I know this phasing issue is discussed for years. And i know that nobody from Line6 will even read this thread. but damn i wish they whould cause i feel like after making such great upgrades to the software, this whould turn the HX from 10 to 11. If you have workarrounds for that. feel free to tell me. I have my setup working now, but again, i have to delete Blocks to get Room for FXloop which doesnt really do a lot. I simply cannot have stacks ODs or SD in a chain even with a Gate cause of the all present whitenoise which comes even when you dont have a pedal plugged in. And i cant use the Stereo send and L/R return to its fullest cause of the phasing and Stereo issues. PS: All that stuff whould also make extremly good sense considering the new ishly HX One. If you want to expand HX Stomp or Effects via HX One, you encounter the exact problems. Noise - FXloop blocks ... Fixing them or just adjusting the function of FXloops/Send/Return means HX One becomes actually more viable as an upgrade option. listen to me Line6 :P

Hello, I tried connecting my Helix Stomp XL to the return of my Marshall Valvestate VS65R during a rehearsal with the idea of using the speaker of the amp to utilize the amp and cab simulations that I have in the snapshots of my Helix. The configuration I used was as follows: 1. A cable from the Helix’s L/Mono Output to the return of the Marshall. 2. In global settings, I selected the output as ‘instrument.’ The problem is that with the volume control of the Helix at maximum, the Marshall sounds too quiet (almost imperceptible). Increasing the volume on the Marshall (neither the overdrive nor the clean channel volume) doesn’t work either. I also tried increasing the decibels of the output in the signal chain in the helix, but that didn’t work either. I’ve tried this with two Valvestate amplifiers from the 2000 series, and the same thing happens. So, during the rehearsal, I ended up connecting the Helix to a PA, but I’d like the option to use a cab instead of going directly to the PA. What could be causing this? Would I need to connect the Helix output to a physical preamp and then to the cab? Thank you very much.

Hello everyone Sorry for the recurring argument but I couldn't find exactly my case. I use my HXStomp on my pedalboard mainly as Ampsim with some physical pedals in front of it and other effects in the fx loop. I'm experiencing problems with clipping when I activate pedals that are connected in the fxloop. The clipping is only there when I activate any of the pedals within the FX Loop (Fx Block is always ON). There is no Volume difference when the effects are activated/deactivated. There is no differeence whether the pedals in front of the hX Stomp are activated or not, I also tried with other AMPs in the preset again there is no difference. Here the details of my chain. (All in MONO) Helix Preset: (see Screenshot) 1. Volume Block 2. Amp (Brit Plexi Jump) 3. 2 x IR on splitted trails 4. FX Loop L (Use all in mono) 5. Reverb Pedalboard 1. TC Electronic Sub'n'up mini 2. EHX SoulFood 3. JHS Packrat 4. HXStomp IN 5. HXStomp FX Out (Mono) 6. Wampler Terraform (Modulation) 7. Walrus ARP-87 (Delay) 8. Walrus Slö (Reverb) 9. HX Stomp FX In (Mono) 10. HX Stomp Out to DAW or directly through the headphone out to the headphones. General settings on HX Stomp In/Out 1. Input level: Inst 2. Output level: Inst 3. Send Return L: Inst 4. Send Return R: Inst 5. Return Type: Return Does anyone have an idea how to solve the problem?

Sorry if this is a basic ask. I run a few pedals in the STEREO loop of my HX Stomp using mono cables. Most of the pedals are mono but the final pedal before returning to the Stomp is a STEREO Boss looper. If I switch to stereo cabling would I hear an improvement? (Looper is 32-Bit with nice drums hence not using the internal looper). Also, what would happen to the signal when it passes through those MONO pedals (not even sure how you run stereo cables into mono pedals). The Stomp runs balanced outs into a pair of Yamaha active monitors.

Hi all, have you seen the latest YouTube video of Choptones? It seems they replaced the FX loop with a free block, in comments somebody asked about It but they don't have answered yet. Any idea? Thanks a lot

Hello to all, I'm running my stomp into my SS amp's return mono ( it's a 2X12 8240 stereo Marshall). the problem is that only one speaker works. The patch is one mono amp ( no cab). so I tried to go in the FX stereo (LEFT AND RIGHT) return of the amp. still, only one speaker works. The patch I'm using is mono. ---------------------- If I go with the guitar to amp's input, both speakers work ---------------------- what am I doing wrong? Is the problem coming from the stomp or patch? or is it because of my SS amp? TNX

Bye, fellows. Line 6 don't update the firmware anymore, deciduous SD, without FX loop, no chances to detune guitar, so I sold it. I'm migrating to POD Go connected by 4CM to a Marshall AVT100X. Also, nobody else talk anymore in this group, so I leave it. It was a loyal partner, I will remember it fondly, but I will not miss it. Bye.

Hi, I’m new to the helix so I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right place or what the story is here but I’m just looking for advice as I’ve a few questions. so I bought a helix lt to replace my pedal board and to use the amp models too for certain fly in shows or where ever it will make things easier. I’m wondering how I can set it up so that overdrives etc go into front of the amp (real amp) and delays etc go into the fx loop. I also wanna know how to do that too with the digital amps in the helix itself too. Thanks

Hi guys, I am new to helix, Recently tried FRFR and wasn't sold on the sound for what Im doing. I want to use 4cm to my Mesa Boogie rectifier and I have hooked it all up. I set my commands up to change the channels of the amp VIA ext amp. I am experiencing tone suck which I can't get to the bottom of... The amp sounds cleanish on the dirty channel And also if I put FX after the loop (In screenshot pictured) the effects don't work at all? they work before the input signal but not after nothing at all. My Mesa has a serial loop could this be causing this? It only has a switch that says bypass or FX loop My global settings are (guitar pad) off (1/4 outputs - Line) (Instrument - Send return 1) and (Instrument - Send return 2) Basically all I want to do is be able to run effect before and after the amp... And use snapshots to make the helix change my amp channels between them Sorry if I sound silly there is probably a simple fix but Im really wanting to get it all up and running

New Helix Floor owner here. I LOVE it! I'm experimenting with using just the power amp section of my Mesa F-100 head (it's about 15 years old). The Setup: I can go guitar>helix>mesa head fx loop return. This bypasses ALL mesa controls except fx loop knob (which which ranges from 0 to 100). This setup has me using just the power amp part of the head. The Question: Should I treat the mesa fx loop knob as the "master volume knob" (and send max signal out of helix main out)...or should I set mesa fx loop knob to 100 and treat helix main out as "master volume"? FYI: The mesa fx loop is parallel and I'm sending instrument level signal to it, as it's designed to receive Thanks!

Hi guys, Have recently started using the Helix LT for my live rig and there is one thing I haven't been able to figure out. Withmy old setup I had a freeze pedal at the end of my chain so that I could ring out the last chord of a song between guitar change overs etc. The Helix doesn't have a freeze type pedal so was trying to patch in my actual freeze pedal. I am facing the following problems: I run a stereo rig, with one head and cab going to left FOH and another going right FOH via XLR. I use Send 1 in a stereo send block to my onstage power amp for stage sound, I don't use a mono send as this bounces down my stereo path. If I use Send 2 of the send block block to the freeze and then return into return 1 of a stereo return block this will send the freeze pedal to the left cab only which is ok, but when the freeze pedal is turned off I am sending the dry signal back through the path which messes with the tone / volume. Using the FX loop would work better but as it's a mono pedal, when it returns I only get signal through one side of the chain. Any suggestions on how I can patch this in successfully? Hoping a freeze type pedal is incorporated into the Helix soon! Cheers, Patrick

Hi guys, I just wanna know if I in the same preset can send some of the effects of the preset through the fx loop and others through the line output to the amp at the same time using the HX Effects. Thanks Pedro

Purchased an m13 the other day. I want to use it mainly for delays and verbs for now. I would also like to keep bank 4 for fuzzes, screamer, and classic distortion for future consideration of dumping my external dirt boxes. Current Chain before the m13 was purchased Guitar>tu-2>ibanez ts9>Daredevil black yorba fuzz>line 6 m5>tc electronic spark mini>vox ac30 c2 Of course I'm ditching the m5 for the m13. I would like to take advantage of the ac30's fx loop and the m13's fx loop while also being able to continue using the ts9 and black yorba for now (the spark mini will probably not stay). I would like to do this using the 4cm. How would I set the fx loop settings on m13 and how would I chain it together? I would like to use the 4321 setting as this is how my brain sees signal flow. Lastly, I think I read somewhere that I could leave the ts9 and black yorba on all the time and utilize the m13 to control when they are fed through the signal, Is this true? If so, how would I do this?. Thanks in advance for your patience with me as I'm a complete noob when it comes to multi effects.

I am using an hd500 into a Crate Powerblock for guitar and vocals, I was thinking about adding a pedal or two using the integrated fx loop and then I thought: The added D/A/D conversions will double the latency, will it be noticeable? What's the precise latency value?

Right I have posted this before but to no avail so I'm going to try again. Basically the only way I can get my POD to send a signal to my ENGL power amp is to go via the fx loop and stick a loop block at the end of the signal chain which is rather annoying as I like the use of the looping function. I have sent it directly into a PA before via the 1/4" out without an issue but for some reason it is not working going into the ENGL so I have no clue what the problem is. The output signal is set to power amp, 1/4" line out switch set to amp, guitar in set to normal. My rough signal chain is (working) Guitar in>Vol pedal>Amp sim>Reverb etc>FX block>FX Send (out)>ENGL>Cab. The way I want it to work is; Guitar in>Vol pedal>Amp sim>Reverb etc>1/4" out>ENGL>Cab. Has anybody got any ideas? It's been months and I still can't find a solution.
