Title says: Make FX loop great again. They should! Here is how: Having experiented a bit with the FX loop and trying a lot of things. There is so much wrong with it. You wanna have a FXloop for on of your Gainpedals infront of your digital amp? Noise You wanna have a OD Pedal before your digital Distortion Pedal which also is in front of your digital Amp? Even more Noise You wanna extend your HX (Stomp or Effekts probally) with hardware Pedals cause your preset its allready packed full? wakwaaaak Your FXloop also requiers Blocks which takes space from your overall preset. Sadly, if you think you can "upgrade" the capabilitys of your effects of stomp your mistaken. Idk what it is with Send/return or Loop blocks. pretty sure it wont take much DSP away from anything. We have come so far. Since Update 3.0 we enjoy 8 instead of 6 Block in HX Stomp and Effects. Fix to get more out of the HX: Whouldnt it be great to get Send/Return or Loop Blocks there own sort of thing? Like the Signal Split. We can allready to it, it takes no block. I whould love to see Line6 implement 1 free FXLoop or 1 free set of Send/Return in non Helix hardware with limited Blocks. Just like the Signal Split. --- And that noise.... Its pretty much unusable if you plan on using an Amp within HX and use Hardware OD oder SD. Digital OD and SD are fine. And thats really a shame. Not even the best Gate Pedal with 4cm will help you with that. Since it only takes to block with no hardware signal chain attached to throw white noise at you like nothing else. Can we talk also about FXLoop in Stereo. If you plan on using the Stereo Loop with a Splitter cable to get FX L and R at the same time... yea, you get that. But one Signal chain will be left, the other right. Giving terrible phasing problems. Pretty much unusable that way. Fix for phasing?: Why is it that you dont have a option to make both inputs Mono instead of one R one L stereo. So you can have both of your signalchains but the just produce mono sound. Ofc you want that stereo stuff for delays or something like that. But the raw signal with OD. we dont need stereo for that. Point 1 and 2 combined "Fix": Imagin not having a Send/Return/Loop Right and Left in the first place. Why not having just Send/Return/Loop and let us choose L/R in the setting of the block. That whould mean if you want to create a Preset with 2 different loops, Left and right, you can change them via Snapshot or Button. you have your X Pedal active and wanna switch snapshots and get your X Pedal off the Signalchain and add your Y Pedal. If its an option to select which Channel you wanna have its an instand win. Leave the Trials in peace and you can have 2 signal chains for the price of one. Overall i love my Stomp. But im just so disapointed of the FXloop. Its just a hassle and you litterly gain nothing from it. You actually loose more then you gain, since you cant adress normal pedals via Midi and can only have 1 loop at a time despite having the capabilitys for having 2. I know this phasing issue is discussed for years. And i know that nobody from Line6 will even read this thread. but damn i wish they whould cause i feel like after making such great upgrades to the software, this whould turn the HX from 10 to 11. If you have workarrounds for that. feel free to tell me. I have my setup working now, but again, i have to delete Blocks to get Room for FXloop which doesnt really do a lot. I simply cannot have stacks ODs or SD in a chain even with a Gate cause of the all present whitenoise which comes even when you dont have a pedal plugged in. And i cant use the Stereo send and L/R return to its fullest cause of the phasing and Stereo issues. PS: All that stuff whould also make extremly good sense considering the new ishly HX One. If you want to expand HX Stomp or Effects via HX One, you encounter the exact problems. Noise - FXloop blocks ... Fixing them or just adjusting the function of FXloops/Send/Return means HX One becomes actually more viable as an upgrade option. listen to me Line6 :P

Hi folks, being a newby on Helix I dare another question here. I am using the HELIX just as a multi-FX-board and as a control panel for my Marshall JVM410H. I love the amp's sound and would not have another one (as long as the Marshall won't go down. If one day it would do so, I plan to use the HELIX' DI-OUT with an alternative set-list with amp, cabinet etc. directly into the mixer). First step was to control the amp's sounds by MIDI Program change mode which worked absolutely perfectly. No need for the amp's footswitch anymore. :) Second step was using the 4CM in order to put the Wahwah at the beginning of the signal chain and delay etc. after the MARSHALL's pre-amp. I've been watching this video for instructions: https://youtu.be/Wvz3L8bJb1w Well, I've been doing as was said here, but the results were so bad, so that I had to switch back to standard send-/return (3 cables). So, maybe someone can help me with this problem, by answering a few questions: My amp has 2 effect loops, one serial (preamp out, return) and one that can be used in a serial (by putting the mix knob on 100%) or a parallel mode (mix 50%). The latter has the big advantage, that the original signal stays in the amp while the Helix (when its effect mix configured correctly) delivers just the FX signal, while the Marshall mixes the original with the Helix' FX to an optimal sound ... in theory. Now in the tutorial it says, that the amp's SERIAL FX loop should be used. Well ... is that so, that good results can get achieved ONLY with the serial FX loop? I ask, because MARSHALL does explicitely not recommend this, if you are not using hi class studio rack effects. Well, no idea, whether the HELIX qualifies as such ... ;-) I learned, that in the HELIX' preset you have to add a send/return block each. But then, there is a "fx loop" block, too. Is this the same thing as one send with the return block combined? I DID make it work, even in parallel mode by putting the delay's mix to 100% and the amp's return mix to 50%. Sounded great. Problem was: when I chose a Helix' snapshot of the same preset that has no active effects but noise gate (as I do many times for rhythm sound), there is some screeching and loud humming that I cannot explain. Even when I turn the guitars volume to total zero, there is a feedback loop somewhere and I cannot find its cause. So I have no idea, where to search. But like this, you cannot use this setting at all. Anyone any ideas? Sorry, if I repeat some questions for the hundredths time, but the forum's search routine could not find answers to my questions ... I appreciate any help, because I need the Wahwah and the delay. First one sounds crap in Send / Return, second one sounds crap in front of the Marshall ... HEEEELP! :(

WARNING: Utilizing FX Loop, Send, and Return blocks within the same Helix/HX preset has the potential to cause a feedback loop based on the routing and their position in the signal flow. The volume level and severity of this is feedback loop is dependent upon what is contained within the FX Loops. We strongly encourage Helix/HX users to use extra caution and awareness when using these blocks in their presets. Specifically avoid placing duplicate send blocks AFTER their corresponding Return in the signal flow. This applies to both FX loop blocks which contain both sends and returns within one block as well as individual send and return blocks. For example, if your preset contains an FX Loop 1 block (FX Loop L on HX Stomp), which utilizes both Send 1 and Return 1, DO NOT place a Send 1 block AFTER this FX Loop. The same would apply to using individual send and return blocks. For example, if you have a Send 1 block and a Return 1 block in your preset, DO NOT place a duplicate Send 1 block AFTER the Return 1 block.

Hi, I admittedly have not had enough time to physically test the cable to make this work but I cannot seem to find a clear answer before I go down the rabbit hole- maybe somebody has had this pop up also? I bought the HX Stomp and want to use it with a Boss MS3 for a fly rig. My goal would be to hook up the MS3 in the FX Loop of the HX Stomp for maximum flexibility of effects ordering. The MS3 is a mono TS input with 2 stereo TS outputs. I want to use those stereo outputs for some of the delays and additional signal routing possible as a result. I am well versed in the HD500 from the past, Helix Native and also HX Effects for editing tones/signals and such. On the HX Stomp, can I create an FX block that allows for the mono send but with stereo returns on it? Any special work arounds to consider on this? I am pretty certain the MS3 will not like a TRS cable at it's input which would neutralize the FX TRS send, I just don't know how a TS cable on FX Send from HX Stomp will affect the block as a return in stereo. It seems like only real work around is 2 blocks, a mono send and then a stereo return - any other ways to do this as 1 block? Thank you all in advance for the help!!

Im having some slight issues that I can't seem to figure out. I started a new preset to work with 4CM. Ive tried setting the send/return up different ways, but the problem I am having is when I activate the wah, it turns my fx send/return block off. If I activate fx block while wah is active, then when I de-activate the wah, it turns the fx block off. Is there any way to leave the fx block on at all times? why is the wah linked to it? How do I change it? I also tried using the 4CM template, and the HELIX PreAmp would disable my fx block when I activated the pre-amp..any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! (Here are a few pics of the different ways I have tried. Everything works until the wah is activated)

Hi all, I just spent a fair while reading all 32 pages of ideas and no-one seems to have though of this one so I thought I should start it off. http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/SEND-Block-to-more-places-e-g-1-4in-for-easy-IR-bypass/818624-23508 Allow the SEND and RETURN blocks to connect to more of the Helix inputs and outputs. SEND should also go to 1/4in, XLR, USB, Digital. RETURN should also return from AUXin, Variax, Digital, USB This would make Helix's routing even more powerful. Scenario 1: A simple way to set up 1/4 in jacks to amp on stage and XLRs with Cab/IR to FOH. You could leave the Helix path output set to "XLR" and then just add a send block before your IR or Cab block that was set to send to 1/4in jack outputs. Simples! One reason for doing this is that you don't have to use a whole Path line just simply to do Scenario1. Meaning the other Paths can be used for parallel fx routing or maybe processing a mic as well. Of course to save a path you could connect your amp via a Send socket that you can already select with a Send block - but then you lose the ability to control the stage amp level with the Helix volume knob. Scenario2: Set up a USB device in a Send / Return loop easily. Think of the possibilities.......

Hi. Recently I purchased a second hand Spider III 75. I like almost everything about it: the sound is great, exactly what I need. But I faced a problem. I usually use additional effect pedals with my amps for more flexibility with the sound. But this amp does no have effect loop, so my delay and modualtion pedals sound very dirty if I plug them in input, Is there any possibility to install effect loop? I asked a friend of mine, who is knowledgeable about the subject, if he can do it. But he said he needs a scheme or something for that. Waiting for your responses Thank you in advance, P.S. I am from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, so there is no possibility to contact a dealer or a service center, because there is none within 1000 miles. :)

Hi! This is the first pedal with send/return I will buy, and I have some questions if you can help me: - I suppose the send will transport the original guitar signal to apply external effects and then the return can be inserted at any stage. Is this right? - What happens if I use only the return to insert additional audio? Will it replace the full sound? Thanks, Regards.

I have seen others on the forum with the same problem, with no solution, so bare with me or point me to the solution. When making edits and creations in the PC editor the "send" button does not send the data to the pod entirely. Double-clicking the preset (in editor) loads the sounds and visual representations as expected on pod and PC However, attempting to save a preset from editor to pod by pressing the send button only sends half the info- Visually the amp and effects appear to be stored on the pod but the sounds are from whatever was saved in that patch previously and have no reflection on the sound. The only way to get the "new" preset is to power the pod on then off and then the preset appears AND sounds as expected/saved. using pod HD500x with the designated editor
