I know Line 6 is not going to update the Helix manual until v3.0 so I decided to combine all the updates in one Excel Sheet. I know others have listed all the amps and effects and have gone into detail about them, so I did not repeat that level of detail here. I just included what Line 6 did in their updates - including Features and Improvements. I would normally put this info in a database, but figured a lot more people probably have Excel so I decided to go that route. It's a basic sheet and you can sort based on version, type, etc. Also, some of the the feature updates have a lengthy description so I put those on separate tabs and setup a link to that feature (in the Notes column). Very nice IR Library here....particularly liking the Bandit 112 IRs, sound great for my clean tones...and I used to gig with a real Peavey Bandit 112, great little amp. Here's the Download link https://soundwoofer.com/Library/Index1 point

JamieCrain,... thanks, hoped that would be the case when I saw your location. Cheers.1 point

All MIN means is the value of the parameter when the Switch is OFF (LED not lit). Conversely, MAX is simply the value of the parameter when the Switch is ON (LED ON). Each parameter assigned to a single switch will have it's own MIN/MAX settings. Set them any way you like!1 point

If not using snapshots, in stomp mode, this is easier to set up in HX edit. Just set the "max" param to a lower setting than the "min" param. If you are using Snapshots, assign to snapshot by holding knob first time you turn it. Then just set it in each snapshot. Here's is a vid with some snapshots info when working directly on the unit.1 point

The update note instructions on the L6 Downloads page for "Step 1" in the "HX Edit 2.92" download need to be corrected to indicate that you should download HX Edit "2.92" not "2.90".1 point
-
Yes, you should be concerned. The Line 6 instructions for the editor are very confusing right now. If you look in the Line6 Downloads section for the Helix there is an HX Edit 2.92 download available that has update note instructions to download the 2.90 version. It would be difficult for this to be written in a more confusing manner. Line 6 is offering a 2.92 version of HX Edit with explicit instructions that you should download the earlier 2.90 version. That can't be right. That text in "Step 1" should be corrected to "2.92". At least the direct links they provided to the HX Edit download point to the 2.92 version. This mistake in the "Step 1" instructions is probably a remnant from the hotfix from before when they only had a 2.90 version of HX Edit but had later hotfix versions, e.g. 2.91 of the firmware out but not a new version yet of the editor. I would open your current version of HX Edit and go to the Help --> About tab and check your HX Edit version. Mine reads "HX Edit 2.92". If it does not match your firmware version then you need to download the corresponding version of HX Edit as well as following the rest of the 2.92 firmware update instructions including the one about restoring from backup.1 point

Thanks, It does have the Stevic models loaded, I've been editing them. They appear under the "Special" model. in WBHD and I recognise all the names from the Outlier album. It's all the others that are out of sync. But what I might do is save all the presets on my computer and then do a firmware update and then reload them. Will do. He lives just down the road so I guess it's possible!1 point

I spent a couple of hours on Friday going though 13 patches I've built up since I got my Helix in March, adjusting them so that the Input Pad replaces the boost button. I duplicated the set list first, in case it was a disaster. I was effectively halving the input volume on all patches. Before, the humbuckers dictated the gain settings on the preamps, and the boost pedal would match the single coils to the same level. Now, the Pad matches the humbuckers to the level of the single coils. So I had to adjust the amp gain settings on each patch to bite at half their previous levels. Not only that, but I use the expression pedal to adjust the gain (and ch vol) on each patch. So there was a LOT of adjusting to do. The jury is out on the results so far. I feel that I have more work to do across all patches, as there are compressors involved too. I'm starting to wish I'd not bothered, and just created a duplicate set list with a different boost setting. It would have saved a lot of effort.1 point

The first block in all of my chains is the "GAIN" block. It is extremely transparent and uses very little resources. With that block in place, you have the most flexible "input pad" at your fingertips. My tele is my baseline... the gain block would be zero. My strat has about 5db of gain added... my les paul about 6db removed. The results are predictable effects settings because the input levels are "pretty much" balanced while he character of each guitar still shines through. I create a general preset for each of my guitars. When I grab my Tele I turn on the TELE presets... repeat for Strat, Les Paul, PRS, etc... etc... The presets follow the same structure and layout.... they are just fine tuned for each guitar.1 point

I play a Les Paul and a Strat and face the same issue with a difference in level at the Helix input. I also want the tone settings for the LP to be different from the Strat - not to make them sound the same as each other, but to both be somewhat similar in amount of lows and highs for my taste. For example on the Strat I prefer to boost the lows and mids and cut the highs to a degree to make the Strat more in the ballpark of the Les Paul. I do this not only for personal taste but I also keep two guitars on stage in case I break a string and need to get through a song or a set. If I have to switch guitars I can't have a sudden drastic change in level and tone. In the old days I used to switch on an outboard EQ on the Strat to boost its level and modify its tone so I did the same thing in the Helix. I have a 10-band graphic EQ as the first block in my chain, bypassed for the LP and turned on when I use the Strat. It is not assigned to a footswitch because like you I don't want to waste a footswitch for this purpose. Also, I use snapshots so even if I had it assigned to a footswitch and turned it on for the Strat, as soon as I change snapshots the EQ's bypass state would change so I'd have to keep turning it back on. However! The new Snapshot Bypass feature introduced in firmware 2.8 helped me greatly with this. I use this feature to set the EQ block to ignore snapshot changes. I save my presets with the EQ block selected but bypassed, so when I load a preset the cursor is sitting on the EQ block. When I switch to the Strat I just reach down and press the bypass button on the Helix. It then stays activated regardless of snapshot changes. When I go back to the Les Paul I reach down and turn it off the same way. For me it is a great solution.1 point

My presets are built for the guitar I intend to use with it. For me it makes sense in that if the tone I want for that preset is based on a humbucker, changing the input still wouldn't make any single coil guitar sound like the humbucker. The reverse is also true. Different output levels is not what really determines the core tone.1 point

We recently made an update, that allows you to see more information about the stand-alone Impulse responses and we also threw in a little waveform. For example, this Impulse response from an Mesa oversized 4x12 Each impulse now shows (if available) Cabinet Brand Model Year And; Microphone used Microphone position Microphone distance1 point

We have received feedback about how useful it would be if the library was available for download as packs and we agree. So, therefore we have made two packs available. In order for you to get access to them we need something in return. Pack one - Contains 350+ Impulses and can be found in your profile after you have logged in. Pack two - Contains 1185 impulses and can be found in your profile after you have uploaded an Impulse of your own to the library.1 point

According to the attached Excel SS from Tito83 (THE expert on input impedance matters! :-) ), the Industrial Fuzz should be 1M. At any rate, I tried with the Industrial Fuzz bypassed and that alone didn't fix the problem. I THINK (I tried a lot of things) that even with EVERYTHING bypassed it didn't solve the problem. I thought that was REALLY strange! Only solution I found was as I described above. OP may have hit the weirdness lottery on this! Helix Effect Impedance Chart.xlsx1 point

Hey guys, Marcus from Soundwoofer here, glad you enjoy our library. If you have any feedback, please let us know as the library is still under development. We have also opened up for users to register accounts and upload Impulse responses to the library. You can register an account here Also wanted to tip, we have also released a series of "Mixpulses" that are combinations of several microphones (12!) into just one single file. You can find the mixpulses here1 point

The bandits actually make a great pedal platform amp... Good clean sound, stays clean at high volumes, and not too heavy to carry around....1 point
