  1. No,... The Expression Pedal inputs are not designed to take in a Control Voltage (or CV). They are for passive pedal devices.
  2. M9 is a Stompbox Effects device. You can send the sequencer signal through the M9 and its effects to further process the signal. MIDI is used for loading and off-loading settings and engaging "Scenes" and Looper functions, and some SysEx. It is not itself a sequencer, and does not accept control voltage (CV). It's a Stompbox Effects device with some digital program features. http://line6.com/m9/
  3. Actually, being the guy who works on guitars here, I can say that the Variax Standard is a true collaboration,... details of which I won't go into. As far the the THR amps,... Yamaha has been doing their Modeling for some time now, as in their grand piano with modeling capability, which has been around for several years. And there have been a number of people over the last 12-15 years in the modeling world, who have been into working on modeling of vacuum tubes and tube amps. Some of them are half decent renditions. Though I haven't heard the THR yet.
  4. True. Maybe at some point there will be, then whatever problem he's having can be solved.
  5. It's okay cruision2,... it's like the old saying goes, "Even Erma Bobeck was rookie". He's listed as Just Startin'. He'll get into it.
  6. Being the owner of a Ricki and a Gibson,... yes, I've A/B them. Right, I seem to recall you weren't a metal player, I'm not a metal player either,... much, but some of them who ask me about this thread are.
  7. Non- answers and obfuscation??? Hardly. Mr M is have a problem with some sort of over-ring that's injected into the signal. Yes I do hear it just fine. And the guy from L.R.Baggs explained a number of things about the aspects about piezos (which I got into early on in this thread). Now, it's a matter of narrowing down the source. As for the the Model itself is from a vintage 59 Strat. I've had this talk with the programmer. Yes, it's going to have a bit more something about it that unfortunately Miroslav doesn't like. Popular with blues players, but not with metal players (seems to be the pattern). So yes, that particular Strat is supposed to have that kind of Low-E sound. Apparently it doesn't mix well with how Miroslav is using it. "The body affects the modeling, but you can't correct for it....well actually you can, but I can't talk about it, so let's talk about the switches instead...can't tell you what it is, but I'll say it's not the firmware"---- right, "can't correct for it",... but it can be mediated or mitigated some. I don't have these problems with my four JTV's, and is a rare thing with all the JTV's I work on. I also play through something other that HD500/500X, so my effects module gains are different, and those frequencies Miroslav is having a problem with, "don't stand out as much" on my set-up. And yeah, I'm tired of bringing up my lengthy ciriculum vittae too. Normally, I would enjoy the snappy reparte',... but it doesn't help with a solution to the problem at hand. And as mentioned before this thread is lengthy. A number of causes have already been eliminated from the list of causes. Any other ideas?
  8. White noise suggests a high noise floor, and that goes to gain or an impedance mismatch between devices. If it's a Mackie board, chances are there is an input trim pot for adjusting level between mic and line inputs. Most other board will have phantom power. You may want to start with phantom off, until you can determine whether it is having an affect on the signal. Phantom power is meant to be used for condenser mics.
  9. It's not the Flash. But that's as much as I can say about that. "I wish they had a "no model" model in workbench that would pass the dry piezo signal, that might be interesting"--- my guess is that it would sound like a hot pick-up or pick-up with active circuit amps.
  10. And there are 3-switch configurations for the different JTV configurations. And so they have to be programmed as such. The guy from last week, took his guts and put it into a non-JTV body, so now his guitar body won't fit the tone colour of any of the 3-switch configurations programmed into it. I guy I know put his guts into a Flying-V,... it sounds different. But he knew that from the start because I went over all of this with him. He knows our product, because he used to work for one of our service partners. He is one of those five people in the Americas I trust to do a mod or transplant without messing up. It's not as simple as dropping in the guts into another body, then plug-and-play. Been involved with guitar synth stuff since 1978, and known about modeling since 1976 (back when it was called numerical modeling, and CPU's ran 8-bits). I've been doing this a while.
  11. Hardware issue, needs to be troubleshooted at a Line 6 authorized service center.
  12. New meaning to the term "screech".
  13. And you're bumping your elbow into the controls, because they're on the other side now. And transplants have their own pitfalls. Last week, someone had one and the Models sounded different, being in a different body and all. He wanted me to adjust it and tweak it. Had to turn it down, it's some other company's product. And adjusting the Models to fit the tone of the body,... well, there simply isn't an adjustment for that. I warn people about this all the time. I've been getting paid to do tech stuff for the last 40-years (as of last month). I hear from those who didn't heed my warnings. And they not the four or five people in the Americas I trust to do mods (or transplants) without messing up. So be careful when doing this sort of mods or transplants (rather not see any), ... it's a pricey thing to mess up.
  14. I would want a closer look at one of those,... the only concern from my POV would be whether those would scratch the fret-board or wear on the strings over time. Like having a capo for individual strings,... interesting.
  15. DO NOT plug an amp's 8-Ohm output into a 4-Ohm input of a speaker cabinet. That is bad! Don't do that. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/general-faq/cabinet-connection-and-ohm-faq-r436
  16. G.A. Yupangco & Co. 339 Gil Puyat Avenue Makati City, 1200 Phone: 00632 899 9595 Email: info@yupangco.com .... is the closest one I can find. The failure you're having is not something you'll be able to repair yourself. It will need a servicing by someone who knows the insides of our product and has access to the service information. Wish there was something closer to you.
  17. When it gets like that, with the blank LCD like that,... it needs to be taken in for servicing by a Line 6 authorized technician who knows the product. Log a ticket into your account so a Customer Support person can take of it. It's not something you can fix yourself.
  18. Mattherb, Register your product, and then log a ticket in you Line 6 account so that someone from Custom Support will be info and knows to respond. Unless you register the product and log a ticket, they won't know that you have a problem, until you let them know. And someone at Guitar Center will have paperwork somewhere.
  19. Yes,... the cable is a TRS, not TS. There should be something about this in the manual and the Line 6 Knowledge Base. TRS = Tip/Ring/Sleeve, where one is for the signal, the other is for the DC supply and the sleeve is the common. There should be directions with it on how to connect it.
  20. Both. Certain circuits don't do well with rechargeables. I've seen (not so much with G30/50/90) devices that fail with rechargeables in them that were so low, they were trying to run the circuit, to where I was seeing minus voltages on the plus volt line. The memory in those devices were blanked. Most memory IC chips, that's not a concern, newer versions aren't a problem that way. But just the same, I won't risk it. If the manual says to use Alkalines, then I use Alkalines. Why risk it.
  21. Might function for a while, but it will stress the regulating circuitry and will eventually fail. The reason for alkaline batteries "may" have to do with the kind of memory chip used. Certain chips don't react well to rechargeable type of batteries and can blank the memory. I don't recall if that's the case with these, but I wouldn't risk it.
  22. Both. It requires questions and answers and so on, until the solution is found. Knowledge abhors a vacuum, and the first step to knowledge is a question.
