  1. One thing to remember is that the physical volume knob essentially only turns the signal down. When it's turned up all of the way, the Helix is supposedly at unity gain (input equals output) according to several Line 6 people. So for the highest signal to noise ratio, you want to turn the physical volume knob all of the way up.
  2. One possibility with the Variax with a caveat. The caveat being can you program your Firehawk so that only the Varaix is before the FX send loop? If it is, you could send the Firehawk FX send directly into the HX Edit. This would allow you to maintain control of the Variax and still have it go into the HX Edit. I don't have either so I'm sure this isn't the only way to work around the Variax control issue, just one idea.
  3. Here's what looks like one or two free ones. I think this is what was offered almost 2 years ago. https://www.celestionplus.com/free-download/
  4. I'm assuming that's true because it was a limited time offer and it was offered nearly 2 years ago. Jan 2017.
  5. That HX Stomp tuner in that video would be very nice. Not that it's as big a deal to me as it is to others. Which is fine, it's not a character flaw to hate the tuner. But ya have to admit, it is better than what we currently have.
  6. i don't know about MIDI but I know both the volume and tone knobs on the JTV ca be assigned to any of the parameters. It would make sense then for them to have the ability to control MIDI
  7. For anyone that has a Helix, I put this up on Ideascale to be voted on. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Variax-Names-in-HX-Edit-the-same-as-in-Workbench-HD/940274-23508#idea-tab-comments Here's what it says. I want the names of the models in the JTV Variax as they appear in HX Edit to reflect what they are named in Workbench HD. It seems a shame that I can rename the models in Workbench HD but the names I save them as in Workbench HD, do not appear in HX Edit. I hate having to carry around a piece of paper that shows me what I renamed the models in my JTV Variax and where they are. Is it that hard to do or is it illegal for some reason? I guess they do show up in the Helix screen that way (I haven't checked this out myself) so how hard could it be to implement into HX Edit?
  8. I went ahead and put this in Ideascale. Vote it up!! https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Variax-Names-in-HX-Edit-the-same-as-in-Workbench-HD/940274-23508#idea-tab-comments
  9. Yeah. Since they are there, it shouldn't be that big of a problem to make them appear in HX Edit I would think. Again they haven't before but they haven't had the custom names in the previous hardware before either where as now they do. Maybe it will be in a future update. I hope so. I'm definitely all in on this one.
  10. Don't get me wrong, I completely agree with your assessment. I think it's ridiculous to allow me to name the guitars in the Variax with Workbench HD and only be able to see them in Workbench HD. I only fire up Workbench HD if I'm creating a new guitar which is rarely. I certainly don't fire it up everytime I program the Helix or use HX Edit and don't want to. So it does me only a little good to rename them. But, again, it's been that way ever since the Variax has been around, in all their amp sim incarnations.
  11. After looking at the cabling I think what is happening is this. I do know this is a method for being able to use your amps preamp as well as the Helix's. Sooooo....If you want to use the amp's preamp, turn your FX send return on and do not program any Helix amp block of any kind. You essentially do not want any effects other than what you would normally put before your amp (compression, distortion etc.) before your FX send return block if you want to use the amp's pre amp so the only signal it is getting is the guitar signal, it's essentially the same as directly plugging your guitar into the amp. This makes your signal path... Guitar -> Helix Guitar In -> Helix FX Send -> Amp's Guitar Input -> Amp's Preamp-> Amps FX Send-> Helix FX Return-> Whatever your patch is -> Helix 1/4' output -> Amp's FX return -> Amp's Power Amp and Speaker. Now if you want to use the Helix's preamps/amps/amp cabs, you turn your FX Send return off. This then skips the amps preamp and patches you directly into the amps power amp. So your signal path is now this... Guitar -> Helix Guitar In -> Whatever your patch is -> Helix 1/4" output -> Amp's FX Return -> Amps' Poweramp and Speaker. That's where you want to use your preamp. Again I don't use this so you'll want to check my math but I think this is the general idea. Hope this helps.
  12. That's was all just to make sure you're wired properly. I don't use the 4 cable method myself but I believe you're using the amps power amp and, of course, it's speaker, so you do want to start with just a preamp. BUT, I always stick to the if it sounds good it is good philosophy so if you can't get it with a preamp, go ahead and use the amps and even the amp/speakers if it gets the sound you want.
  13. Here's a Youtube about the 4 cable method. And here's a graphic showing how your cables should be
  14. Well the first thing you need to do is to turn your screen around 180 degrees so it's right side up. (Sorry I could not resist)
  15. I wouldn't say it's a bug but I'm confused. Was your first post referring to HX Edit or Workbench HD? It says HX Edit but he pic you attached is from Workbench HD. I got the impression that it was HX Edit that you were referring to. If it is then it's not a bug. It is performing the way it was programmed to. It would be an ideascale item. That's where you can post your suggestions (ideas) about what you would want to see in various Line 6 products.
  16. 2) Yes you can have both a guitar and a mic on separate paths and control their relative mix. 3) I'm almost totally sure the footswitches are the same distance apart.
  17. Whoops. I didn't notice you have the HX not the Helix. I'm not sure if that will work for you.
  18. I am very happy with my Variax. I'm just slightly disappointed that, unlike the amp sims, there have never been any additions to the models. Specifically the pickups. I'm definitely sure that that's not going to happen based on the Variax history and the lack of new models of any kind and given how long the latest Variax technology has been around with no updates, let alone new models. Oh well, I'll live. Just curious.
  19. I'm not totally clear on what your path is but here goes. You should create a separate path with a Split A/B. Put the FX loop in that. In the first split parameter turn the Route To parameter all the way to A100 like in the picture. I had to use Native to do this so pretend the Volume pedal is your FX loop. Just leave the return splits parameters alone. that should work. You could actually use the return split's parameters to adjust the relative volume.
  20. Did the Helix drivers get installed? If so, are you using a USB hub? If so, don't or, if not, try a different USB port.
  21. Let me ask this since you're here psarkissian. I'm not even sure if you are allowed to answer these but here goes. Are there any plans to 1)Expand the body types available. 2)Expand the pickup types available. The amp sims often got more amps, etc. but when it comes to the Variax, there was never an expansion of what was originally offered. I assume the answer is no but you seem to be talking as if they would at least be open to it.
  22. There are two parameters in there to set the min and max to which I am assuming is now at 0% min and 100% max.You don't just set the min and max with the actual pedal. You have to change and then save that actual parameter. No pedal involved.
  23. I believe the reason they switched was the old one wasn't being offered anymore. So they had to switch to something. I'm pretty sure they are aware of the problem. I'm guessing even they get logged off for no reason.
  24. I'm not sure what you're referring to but Full Compass is your go to place for Line 6 parts. If it's available to the public, they more than likely have it. Here's the footswitch for the Helix if this is what you mean although I don't know if it's the same as what the LT uses. https://www.fullcompass.com/prod/536537-line-6-50-03-0125-helix-footswitch-assembly
  25. So if I understand you correctly, you should be set up to do exactly what you want to do. My guess is you do not see the stomps names yet in that mode. The stomps are not automatically assigned to any footswitches. So...if the snapshots are in the top row and the stomps are in the bottom row, you will need to assign each effect to a footswitch. The footswitches are numbered. The top row is 1-6, the bottom row is 7-12. So it sounds like footswitches 8-11 are your stomps footswitches and the effects need to be assigned to those. See page 40 of the manual for how to do this. The section is called Bypass Assign. As you assign the footswitches to the the stomps, their name will appear in the scribble strip above the footswitch you've assigned it to. Hope this helps.
