    First patch

I'm assuming the video shows you how to assign a button to an effect. This is what you have to do. It doesn't automatically assign them. They are unassigned until you do so. You can also change the color of the ring around the button if you desire.
  2. I agree with this poster. No matter what setting it's on, the taper seems to be very quick at first and then slow down.
  3. Yes. All you need to do is install the latest version of HX Edit. Everything you need to update everything as well as the latest versions of everything Heix, will be installed will be installed.
  4. Just wanted to say this was so great of you to share this. I'm pretty sure I'll never use it (never say never, right (wink-wink)) but I KNOW there are a fair amount of people that feel the way that you do, that wouldn't and didn't do what you did to find a solution (heck, I wouldn't), let alone take the time to post what you did. Just a Kudos my friend. That was very generous of you.
  5. Yeah, that's what I was saying. The questions you're asking can really only be answered by you. You have to try one and see how it feels to you. And even if it doesn't exactly mimic me having the amp in the room, so what? If you like the experience then that's all you need. That's where I'm at. It doesn't mimic my experience with a live amp, but I like this experience a lot better. So I haven't played through a guitar amp in about 4 years now. I am very happy, no matter what other's opinions are about how "real", for lack of a better word, my experience might be. I like it, and I'm not gonna stop. Thank goodness a lot of the guitar players from the 1930's - 40's through today, really, aren't either. We'd still be playing acoustics.
  6. Not trying to be glib or anything but perhaps you could call it the Eric Johnson.
  7. I found this On clean and rhythm sounds, he tends to use a subtle stereo delay/chorus effect of ~20-25m panned hard left/right with no regeneration (i.e. 1 repeat only). On leads, he tends to use a stereo delay with ~460ms on one side and ~600ms on the other, with three repeats each.
  8. Yes! That's what's wrong.
  9. Given that the amp was modified and the pedal board is an unknown configuration, this is a tall order. Could you post a link to the concert or anything that has that sound? I couldn't find it on Youtube. The Helix has all of the effects mentioned although the Space Echo is the 201 not the 501and I think the 501 was called a Chorus/Echo.
  10. The problem I've found with Audacity is the free version doesn't use ASIO. Did you try the Bandlab link. I just tried it and it works. That's the free one.
  11. Did you try usin the KWB distortion in your patch. It's base on a custom pedal called the Benadrian Kowloon Walled Bunny Distortion and that pedal is based on the MXR Distortion + pedal.
  12. Here's a repost of the pic.
  13. I hope so, my hamster died.
  14. 1) When I use Helix to connect my JTV to the computer so I can use Workbench HD. Can I run the HX Edit program at the same time or does that confuse things. 2) If I can have them both running, can I use the HX Edit program to change the models etc or does the Workbench HD program completely take over the control of the JTV. Or does using both just confuse the programs and is dangerous?
  15. Ooooops I forgot about him. I haven't fed him in awhile either. I hope he's OK.
  16. +1 To Phil_m's post. That's exactly what I did and it all went very smoothly.
  17. Are you using HD Edit on your computer and if you are have you updated it to the latest one? If you haven't you need to start there. You won't see any of the new stuff on your computer if you haven't updated to the most recent version of the Edit program. If you rebooted to factory settings (which has no IR's) and did not save your IR's somewhere else I'm pretty sure your IR's are gone. I know there have been USB issues with updates so don't use a USB hub and try other USB ports or even a different computer. The weird thing, of course, is you were able to load an earlier version . Hope some of this helps.
  18. It is all digital simulations of everything
  19. Yes they have. I'm not so sure about the Helix's models. I think they did one of them but I can't remember. They have in their other products.
  20. The cloud is computer company speak for, "We don't glean enough info about you the way it is. We want access to everything you save on your hard drive." Although I'm sure no one will actually ever betray that trust.
  21. RE:Helix durability. Go to :34 in this video. They don't show it but it was said that yes it did work after the beating.
  22. I haven't used the FX loops yet but couldn't you just put an FX loop (you'd have to make the drum machine mono) at the end of your chain, plug the drum machine's mono out into the FX return and use the Mix parameter to balance the levels between the drum machine and Helix?
  23. So, to take your theory on step further. Generally a guitar amplifier's effects send and return bypasses the preamp. I'm not sure but I don't believe the JCM800 normally has an effects loop but if it did, you could plug your guitar into the Helix, plug the Helix mono output into the effects loop return only, call up only the JCM800 preamp the Helix, and plug the JCM800 amp into a Marshall 4X12 cab. Theoretically, it should be the same as if it weren't in the effects loop and you were plugged straight into the amp. If you found a super transparent power amp of some kind you could then call up only the amp (no cab/mic) in the Helix and plug that super transparent power amp into a Marshall 4X12. Theoretically that also should be the same as plugging straight into a JCM800. I have tried neither so I could not speak to how well the Helix does this. I don't know where you live but if you can, I would find a store with a 30 day money back, no questions asked policy and try it at home. It sounds like you have all the stuff so give it a shot. The opinions around here run the gamut, but one thing I think everyone agrees on is running it through an FRFR using all of the modelling (amp/cab/mic) is not the same as listening to the same amp with you in the same room. The only way you can really tell if it's for you is to listen to it yourself. I don't think there is that much more to tell you. Pretty much every opinion that I've seen on the forum has been expressed here. I'm not trying to blow you off or anything. I just think that's where we are now. I do think if you're looking for something to give you a bunch of simulated amps that will sound and feel like you're in the same room you're going to be disappointed. Like if you get the Marshall amp sim to sound and feel exactly like your in the same room as a real Marshall with an FRFR system and then call up, let's say, a Fender amp through the same system. It wouldn't give you that same experience. It would be off since it would have to be optimized for the JCM 800 sim. Good luck.
  24. I don't know if you've done this yet but...Grab yer Strat. Call up the Hiwatt. Put in a univibe and a transistor tape echo, maybe throw some reverb in. Now you will need to do some tweaking but it will get you the rhythm guitar for the song Breathe. I did a quick search on the internet and got this. Uni-Vibe – volume 100%, intesity 100%, rate 40-50% (chorus mode) Binson echo – 310ms (“repeat” mode) with variable feedback and volume. I have not personally tried those settings and I'm not at home to give you mine but IMHO this sound pretty spot on.
