  1. The pattern is, about 3 - 6 months after any update there is a "when's the next update" rumble on the forums. It kind of comes and goes like the tide for awhile UNTIL the "I heard there's one coming shortly" rumors. Then comes the what they should and shouldn't include along with the "this is what I heard" and "it should be coming come out......" speculation. That whole noise floor keeps rising and rising along with the "what's taking so long" posts until people start to think they can't take all of this waiting anymore. Now a couple of "I'm a beta tester and we're still testing" posts.........THEN!!!!!!..............the update finally comes. At this point the "it's been two hours where's the next update" jokes (often from yours truly) and the "great work Line 6" posts start along with the "this sucks", "why didn't they...", "well you suck if you think this sucks", "well you suck if you don't think this sucks", "are there any new factory patches?" etc. etc. posts. Finally it settles down until about 3-6 months after that. Go back to start. Did I miss anything? Oh....you mean Line 6? No there's no pattern really other than a semi official "we're close" post about a week or two before it finally comes out.
  2. These are smaller than your normal expression pedal. Expensive though. https://www.amazon.com/Line-6-EX-1-Expression-Pedal/dp/B000JKVMJ4/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1536855734&sr=8-13&keywords=line+6+pedal
  3. Can I pick what age. I think I'd go with Jimmy Page or Frank Marino but circa the 1970's.
  4. This is some interesting info. Thank you for doing this.
  5. This is exactly what my backup is and has been. The old Line 6 product is my new backup.
  6. Either way (1/4" or headphone out) will work. I've done both. I prefer the 1/4" as it can require less adapters in my situation but they both will work. Based on how you would connect to the Bose's, the headphone output would require less cable and that's always a good thing.
  7. I can't think of anyone, including myself, that would loan a Helix to someone they don't know or barely know. I'd have to know them REALLY well to do that. Even the LT. That's a lot of money to be handing someone when the reason they need it may be they abused the one they had. Good luck with that but no thanks.

i'm assuming you actually mean 5xe and not 5ex. If you do, the 5xe files are for the previous product Line 6 put out which is the HD500X. Those will not work in the Helix. The Helix extension is hlx.
  9. I'm not at home so I can't check it out but there are two buttons, Save and Manage, in Tuning under the Strings tab. Have you tried to see whatever either of those do?
  10. It's there. Look at the bottom after the "Mic Amps" but before the "Related Articles Here's the link. https://dshowmusic.com/wp-content/uploads/documents/line-6-helix-amp-models-dshowmusic.pdf
  11. I used to be. Not anymore (medium not small). What the hell happened to me?
  12. Well this is all fine and everything but would you lighten up a little. You need to have more fun while you play. (wink wink).
  13. That's too bad. It was very cool. I'm lucky enough to have downloaded it before it was too late.
  14. Since the knobs are certainly visible on the bogner video, did you try those settings in your Helix? Even though they are actually different amps.
  15. Is Variax trademarked? That would be another thing on the sticker.
  16. I don't know if this has been mentioned but I believe you can download and use Helix Native for a month trial before having to pay for it.
  17. No kidding. I always use HX edit so I never noticed. Now I REALLY want to know why I can't see them in HX Edit.
  18. That's true and has been true ever since the Variax came out. I'm not sure if it's a legal issue (like why can't I personally be allowed to rename the effects and amps to what I want. I'm assuming it's a legal issue but if it is, it's ridiculous) but it's never been different. I hate it and wish it would be changed. I always have to keep a list of what I did to the models. I maybe get why it is that way with the named models but why can't I at least see what I called the guitars in the Custom banks. Anyone know the real reason why we can't see the Variax models we named. And why we can't be allowed to rename the amps and FX in the Helix?
  19. What about Fractal's tuner compared to the Helix's. I hear it's...(slap)..Ow!...(punch, punch)..Ouch!...Crap!...Jeese!...stop hitting me!!!!..(smack!, smack!)........
  20. This guy didn't know there was a protective film on the Helix screen and thought he had a big scratch on it when it was just a torn protective film. It's essentially the last three posts. i have a scratch over one of the scribble screens looks like plastic lifted up ect small bubble anything i can do about it?dosent effect the lde readout ect.just whatever is on the top covering of that scrible screen.u can scratch it with a fingernail dont take much https://line6.com/support/topic/16981-screen-protector/ Doesn't fill me with confidence about his observational skills. Not that this would apply to his ears. He could very easily just not see very well. Or maybe he just listened to the factory presets. Just sayin'.
  21. It's not that the tone itself is bad. It just doesn't seem to sit well in the mix. I'm assuming a few things though. Like the voice should be the focus but every time the guitar solos while she's singing, the guitar almost overpowers her and it should be the opposite I think. That's just a production comment. If it sounds good to you it, it is. It also sounds "drier" to me than the rest of it. It almost sounds like everything else was recorded and mastered first with the guitar being tacked on afterwards. Again just my opinion but if you like the way it sounds, then that's good enough.
  22. Keeping in mind it's been over a year since I've even looked at one, I'm pretty sure the knobs only work on the amps. No amp, the knobs do not control anything. I think there is a mic preamp in the HD500 which I used for acoustic. You could use that to get the knobs to work.
  23. Well I don't know if you're reading this Brock but thanks a heap for killing my accomplishing anything in the yard this weekend and possibly killing my marriage as well. WOW!! Very generous of you.
  24. I also have EZDrummer and Addictive Drums. I really like Addictive Drums but if you think the Helix has too many parameters, the amount of choices you have just for one drum is insane. Just read this. Use the Transient Shaper to add or subtract snap, then use the Tone Designer for just the right amount of dampening. Use the built-in EQ, delay and reverb to add the final polish to your drum tone. And there's more. I mean I could spend a day just tweaking a simple drum kit's sound if I wanted too, which, I'm pretty sure, the next day I would think it could use some more tweaking. It's insane. On the one hand it is so cool because you can definitely create a more personal sound for your virtual drum kit, but it will take some time and work. Both EZDrummer and Addictive sound good but Addictive gives you a ton more options so you don't sound like everyone else.
  25. I own Sonar X3. Things are going a little weird at Cakewalk/Sonar right now. Supposedly their Sonar X3 has been renamed Cakewalk by Bandlab and you can get it for free here. https://www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk Yet they offer something called Sonar which looks exactly like Sonar X3. I haven't tried the Cakewalk by Bandlab so I can't say what, if anything is different. It looks like Cakewalk by Bandlab will never be updated but Sonar will continue to be updated and for 49.99 a month, you get upgrades for the rest of your life. Anyway, I like it. It has a different "flow" than other DAW's and seems to be more user friendly than Reaper. It's definitely worth a look.
