  1. This is what the two provided IR's are called 103_American412_87on_Stand 203_British412_87on_Standa So I guess it would mean the British one
  2. Hmmmmm. I just loaded them this weekend and they worked for me. There is only one IR slot and two provided IR's FYI. Since it's you, I'm very sure you're firmware is up to date. Do you have Helix Native? If you do maybe you can load it in there. I did just click and drag the preset in HD Edit instead of importing. Could that be the trick?
  3. One thing I would do is adjust the mix. Don't just leave it at 100%. Start at 75%.
  4. Use snapshots and read the manual. What you describe is well covered in there.
  5. This is very true. I had an E string that was significantly lower than the others. Boosting it all the way (6dB I think) made it almost equal. I actually bought another piezo from Graphtech (I own a JTV89F) hoping it would fix it. It did!!! It was $20 well spent. So if your piezo's seem to be way out of whack with each other, there is a solution. I can't help but think Line 6 should have a "piezo check" station to make sure all the piezos are equal. But it is what it is.
  6. I like the toe switch. Had to do it that way for decades before all this digital stuff.
  7. I just checked the link and I was still able to download it.
  8. Here's an idea scale requesting this. Vote this up. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Save-tweaked-model-defaults-for-Helix/796930-23508#idea-tab-comments
  9. There were several older Line 6 products that allowed you to save your own default settings. The last few have not had that. I've never understood why since, I'm assuming, it's a fairly rudimentary programming issue and I think a lot of people liked it. I know I did. Here's and idea scale requesting this feature. Vote this up. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Save-tweaked-model-defaults-for-Helix/796930-23508#idea-tab-comments
  10. Wait a minute! Look what I found. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ptodcpgw95quhtr/AACSKhfEgK_1rls2IITC38cza/Vinai%20Trinateepakdee?dl=0 Don't know which song the patch is for.
  11. The link is dead but heres a video where he tells what amp he's using. (Twin Reverb)
  12. This is the Ownhammer IR he he is using for the Sara Smiles patch own hammer_412_MAR_CB_EV_S
  13. Many don't know how to get to the planet Tunertron. They say it is a constantly moving target. Others say to ignore the small movements in your calculations, focus on the big movements and you can find it.
  14. I remember those Marlboro amps!!!! Guess what? They're still available. https://smokeyamps.com/product/recycled-cigarette-pack-smokey-amp/
  15. All I hear is a piano and pad. Is that what you are talking about?
  16. These are things that can be handled in the current Helix with a firmware upgrade in Helix I.
  17. He actually means the actual input. Th impedance selector isn't there for every input and there is no MULTI option when it is available. Just AUTO and then some numerical values. I am curious where he puts the LA compressor, I'm assuming it's at the beginning but what do I know?
  18. It is definitely for the VDI input. If you accidentally try to plug something into that, even just barely, you can kiss your Variax connectivity good bye. I learned this the hard way on an older Variax. 😭 I was able to fix it myself, thank goodness. So if there's nothing plugged into the VDI, that is where that cap resides on my Helix. Dust is another issue that can mess with it. Again, I speak from experience.
  19. I agree with your assessment of the JC120, which is why I was so shocked at how good an MXR Distortion + sounded in a JC120 (yes, we are talking decades ago). I loved it. And I'm pretty sure I had the JC120 totally clean. I have not tried this with the Helix. The KWB int the Helix is based on a boutique distortion unit that is based on the MXR Distortion +.
  20. This is what comes with the new JTV's http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/503900-Line-6-99-065-0005 I'm not sure that it will work with the JTV (I''m pretty sure it will) but this is the 1st generation Variax interface. https://reverb.com/au/item/1331115-line-6-variax-workbench-usb-interface-w-both-cables I'm pretty sure the 1st generation Variax VDI interface comes with this because it says this at the bottom of the website "Includes custom RJ-45 cable, USB cable and hardware interface" https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Workbench?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0pPe2qbT2AIVB57ACh29wwe5EAQYASABEgIFrvD_BwE Which is cheaper than the one shown on the Fullcompass website. FYI, the software Sweetwater shows is not the right software for the JTV's. It's for the 1st generation of Varaix's. The software you need you can download from Line 6 here... https://line6.com/software/index.html but the interface that comes with the Sweetwater software I believe will work with your JTV Variax.
  21. I have been in the Line 6 arena ever since the XT POD and the first Variax. I always made my purchases with an attitude of, if it never gets better, I'm OK with this. Right now I am absolutely content with my Helix. Even if there is another latest greatest, the Helix has what I've been looking for ever since I got into this aspect of guitar. In my quest I've purchased a Digitech GSP2101, Sans Amp rack mount, Rockmaster preamp and ADA Ampulator, various Rockman gear, etc. I'm doing very good now with my Helix and JTV. The JTV's are slightly lacking in the acoustic arena but, again, if it never gets better, I'm good. I didn't buy my SG or my JC120 worrying that eventually they'll build a better one. So try a JTV Variax and if you like it as is, get one with the idea that this is what you want. Don't get it if you just consider it a compromise until they build a better one. For me, I'm good with the Helix and JTV. I'm very sure I will never buy anything else along those lines again. What Line 6 gear have I purchase you ask? XT POD, XT POD Live, Variax, XT Bass POD Live (that came with my), Variax bass, Vetta, X3 POD Live, HD500X, UX2 interface, Pocket POD, and currently have the Helix, JTV 69 and JT89F. In a way it's a little pathetic I guess but I got MUCH enjoyment out of all of that and have never regretted getting any of them.
  22. IF you were to do ANYTHING to the bridge remember that the piezos have to have a very good contact with the bridge. That's how it is grounded. It completes the circuit. So if you were to, for example, paint it, make absolutely sure you get NO THING in the cavity the piezo rests in. If you do that, I'm pretty sure you'll be OK painting it. Replacing it would not be a short pleasant task. The only other bridge I am aware of with a trem bar would be what's on the JTV89F. It is black but considering how much it would cost to rout out the guitar and set it up, you would be better off getting a JTV89F. There is no JTV69 black replacement bridge, only chrome, http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/253911-Line-6-50-04-0066?utm_source=googleps&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=googleps&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxd2D-MnS2AIVgbbACh0hmwy_EAQYASABEgIKavD_BwE
  23. I thought I said that. "It worked very well so I suspect the pedal provides the distortion"
  24. If it does have to do with the VDI output jack, Fullcompass has this http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/215554-Line-6-50-04-0079-1 You would have to arrange some kind of shipping because they only ship in the US.
