  1. Maybe try some plumbers tape on the post before you put the knob back on it. The stuff you use when replacing faucets or shower heads.
  2. There was a guy who had reseated, in some manner, the piezo's in his JTV89F and this particular issue was fixed. It wasn't as bad as you have described your issue. I asked for a picture but he never responded. I have a low piezo output issue on my high e string. I used crusinon's workbench suggestion but I had to raise the e strigns output 6dB which fixed the problem but limits me if there are any issues with any other strings. I'm changing my strings very soon which I haven't done since seeing the reseating piezos post, so I'll have a look and if I find anything when I change them, I'll take a pic and post it if I find anything. Otherwise for now, Workbench is your only hope. Unless you want to try jiggling your piezos yourself.
  3. If you are panned Left and Right in the mixer, then I suspect one of your effects is summing the signal to mono. Look here for a document that tells you exactly what each effect does to the signal. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-hd/stereomono-fx-list-for-pod-hd-r567
  4. Since both FX are plugging into the same place that a guitar was when they're hooked to an amp, going Guitar>Whammy>Big Muff>Pod would work fine plugging into the Guitar Input, but as a better option, you could use the FX loop send and returns. That way if you wanted to include some HD FX before your Whammy>Big Muff you can. The FX Loop is essentially treated as another FX block so by using it you can put your external FX (in your case the Whammy/Big Muff) anywhere you can put an FX block in the signal chain.
  5. Yes. There is NO Bass Pod HD. The last, latest Bass specific Pod was the Bass Pod XT. The Bass exclusive pods just weren't selling so they dropped them and put the Bass amp models in the next Pod. The Pod X3. None of the Bass Pods have a preamp selection. You only get to change the speaker cabs and mics.
  6. It's hard to trouble shoot without being there but...This is assuming you meant Volume Pedal when you said Volume and it's not just controlling the Channel Volume on the amp. You need to make sure that the effect you want to control is ON when you try to control it and is assigned the correct footswitch if any. Look to see what switch each effect is assigned to. Assuming you want the Volume to be "on" all the time, you should assign it to NONE in the FS ASSIGN drop down menu. And assuming you want to be able to switch the wah on and off like a normal wah, you need to assign it to EXP TOE SWITCH in the FS ASSIGN drop down menu. To sum this up, your volume will always be on and the wah will turn on and off as you press the TOE SWITCH. You just need to make sure that after you assign the Volume to NONE and the Wah to the toe switch that the Volume Pedal is ON in Edit.
  7. Read this. Here's the catch/trick with assigning the toe switch to anything. The expression pedal is two controllers in one, Exp 1 and Exp 2. When you "click" the toe switch, it toggles between them. Here's an example of the catch/trick. Let's say you have a Volume Pedal assigned to Exp 2 and the POD has Exp 2 selected. So right now the Volume Pedal works. You have decided to add a Wah and assign it to Exp 1. So you add the Wah and it is assigned to Exp 1 (FYI, the POD always automatically assigns the Volume Pedal to Exp 2 and the Wah to Exp 1 when your first select them). So now you click the toe switch to go to Exp 1 which controls the Wah and the Wah works. You then click the toe switch to go back to EXP 2 and the Volume Pedal BUT when you switch back to the Volume Pedal, Volume Pedal works but the Wah is still engaged at the toe down position. Why? If you look at your screen you can see that the Wah is still on, it's just not being controlled by anything anymore. It's locked at the toe position because that's where you had to move it to to switch to Exp2 to control the Volume Pedal No switch has been assigned to turn the Wah off. So,realizing your mistake, you go in and assign the Wah to the toe switch which will then turn it on and off as well as toggling between Exp1/Wah and Exp2/Volume Pedal. Great, now you press the toe switch to go back to the Exp1/Wah and WHAT?? It's not working!! Why? Look at your screen again. Even though you are now on Exp 1 and controlling the Wah with it, the Wah was turned off when you clicked the toe switch. This is because since it was on when you had the Exp2/Volume Pedal selected, when you clicked the toe switch you not only switched to the Exp1/Wah but you turned the Wah off at the same time. You are controlling an effect that isn't on. This is because it toggles to the opposite state it was in when you assigned the footswitch. Since the Wah was on when you selected the toe switch and you were on the Exp2/Volume Pedal, when you clicked the toe switch, even though you are now controlling the Exp1/Wah, you turned the Wah off by clicking the toe switch to select the Exp1/Wah. How do I correct this? Glad you asked. You have to pay attention to the state things are in when you select the toe switch. As in the case above, if you are on the Exp2/Volume Pedal when you select the toe switch to turn the Wah off and the Wah is also turned on, when you engage the toe switch to go to the Exp1/Wah, you also turn the Wah off since it was on when you clicked on the toe swithch to go from the Exp2/Volume Pedal to the Exp/Wah. I think this might illustrate this better. Here's how you started off in the above example Effect Controlled By Controller Current Status Assigned to Toe Switch Effect's Current State (On/Off) Volume Pedal Exp 2 Selected/Controlling No On Now, here's where you are when you put the Wah in Effect Controlled By Controller Current Status Assigned to Toe Switch Effect's Current State (On/Off) Wah Exp 1 Not Selected/Not Controlling No On Volume Pedal Exp 2 Selected/Controlling No On Now, click the toe switch and here is where you are Effect Controlled By Controller Current Status Assigned to Toe Switch Effect's Current State (On/Off) Wah Exp 1 Selected/Controlling No On Volume Pedal Exp 2 Not Selected/Not Controlling No On Wah works. But switch back and you're here again Effect Controlled By Controller Current Status Assigned to Toe Switch Effect's Current State (On/Off) Wah Exp 1 Not Selected/Not Controlling No On Volume Pedal Exp 2 Selected/Controlling No On Wah on but not controlled. Now if you assign the toe switch at this point you have this. Effect Controlled By Controller Current Status Assigned to Toe Switch Effect's Current State (On/Off) Wah Exp 1 Not Selected/Not Controlling Yes On Volume Pedal Exp 2 Selected/Controlling No On And here's your status after clicking the toe switch. Effect Controlled By Controller Current Status Assigned to Toe Switch Effect's Current State (On/Off) Wah Exp 1 Selected/Controlling Yes Off Volume Pedal Exp 2 Not Selected/Not Controlling No On So yes Exp 1 is controlling the Wah but it can't do anything since the Wah effect has been turned off. And if you switch back to Exp 2 again, the Wah is switched on but stays in the toe position since we have now switched to Exp 2 controlling the Volume Pedal. Notice also the Volume Pedal never turns off. It isn't assigned to the toe switch however It doesn't make any difference since when you move the pedal to click the toe switch the Volume Pedal is full on which is the same as it being off. Essentially you have to pay attention to which Exp is currently selected when you assign the Wah to the toe swtich. If Exp1/Wah is on, then you have to make sure the Wah is on when you select the toe switch. If Exp2/Volume Pedal is on, then you have to make sure that the Wah is off when you select the toe switch. Ultimatelly winding up with these two possible states when you click the toe switch. Effect Controlled By Controller Current Status Assigned to Toe Switch Effect's Current State (On/Off) Wah Exp 1 Selected/Controlling Yes On Volume Pedal Exp 2 Not Selected/Not Controlling No On Effect Controlled By Controller Current Status Assigned to Toe Switch Effect's Current State (On/Off) Wah Exp 1 Not Selected/Not Controlling Yes Off Volume Pedal Exp 2 Selected/Controlling No On Well I hope this helps someone. It is way longer than I thought it would be but I like to be thorough. Even so, I'm not so sure how well I did explaining it. If we were in the same room, I could show you this a lot faster than it took to write it out.
  8. I'm sorry. When I said JTV I was thinking and meant the current modeling technology, not the actual guitar style. My bad. I'll correct it.
  9. I would say no matter how small the gig, you still need some kind of amp to hear the POD.
  10. I would say you made the right decision. The Helix appears to be easier to dial in tones and it does sound better BUT I would say it doesn't sound $1,000 better and for the money, the HD500 is definitely as good as you're going to get.
  11. I take this as a good sign that they haven't bailed on the JTV Variax yet. http://store.line6.com/products/guitars/variax-limited-edition-emerald-guitar.html?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiT1dFd01USXlPR0l5WVRnMiIsInQiOiJCK3EzcnY1ZFhrSWdwUTkzejFTMzNvaE5rZnBHWVZ6c1ZTQk45b0VsNkNVYVwvamdsVlQ3YWlDYVY3V2hPRXJHeGE0aWkwS1NYSUhUcUMwYTdGemZRcFRONndVdmsycmJJQllJMWlVYlNlaUU9In0%3D
  12. The cable that came with the guitar is only meant to be used to hook the guitar up to your computer so you can use workbench. Using it while actually playing will lead to a big issue. It wouldn't take much for it to be ripped out of the socket. That's why the one Line 6 sells has the housing over the connector.
  13. Holy smokes. Some long necked spotty animal just flew over my head. I had to duck to get out of it's way!!!!!!!! Could it mean?............Nah.
  14. The "wah" I think your are refering to is an expression pedal as mentioned before. It is actually two expression pedals in one. It also has a toe switch that you would, of course, normally assign to your wah but can actually be assigned to anything. I came up with a post in a thread a bit ago about the vagaries of the expression pedal. Here it is in all it's glory. Here's the catch/trick with assigning the toe switch to anything. The expression pedal is two controllers in one, Exp 1 and Exp 2. When you "click" the toe switch, it toggles between them. Here's an example of the catch/trick. 15. If you are thinking of going stereo (Elec Left, Acou Right), you will need an POD of some kind or a Helix.
  16. I was not telling you HOW to do anything. You have been inaccurate in each of your posts in regard to me. That shows me a distinct lack of.....wait for it....caring. And I am not in charge of the ministry of how people express how their level of caring. I'm in charge of the ministry of WHETHER people express ANY level of caring. Get your ministries straight. I feel like I'm spiraling. Damn that Digital Igloo.
  17. Again it wasn't directed only at you. I know you was more funnin' than serious. But others weren't. And I never said I don't care that you don't care. Never. So how CAN anyone care that I don't care that you don't care since I cared enough to never say I didn't care about you not caring.
  18. This is not just directed at you. But all the posters that have the same thought. If that's true then why respond at all? You're posting because you DON'T care about something? Usually when people don't care about something they do nothing about it. Besides, I believe he made it clear that he was just curious. And even if he does care. Why do you care if he cares? Who are you to tell anyone what to care about? Who died and put you in charge of the ministry of what to care about? Why put him down for asking a question? A fairly lighthearted one at that. I was always taught the only stupid question is the one not asked. And it was more of an inquiry than a question. Lighten up folks. It IS just an inquiry. Not a choice or opinion. And if you really don't care prove it by not posting anything. I know!!! I'll start a thread about what we all don't care about!!! I'll start with amp modelers because real amps are better (that would be a joke by the way). I can't wait for the post about how they don't care about what anyone doesn't care about. Jeese.
  19. +1 on NOT using WD40 for electric contacts. In fact WD-40 makes a contact cleaner. Why would they do that if regular WD40 works that way. I am shocked that it works for him.
  20. I would say the main benefit for using S/PDIF is it maintains it's digital format. It doesn't have to be converted to analog as it does for the outputs of the HD500 and doesn't have to be then converted back to digital to get into the computer. You drop two processes.
  21. I forgot that one. That's true too.
  22. I don't know if either of you tried this but one trick to using the E-Bow is to turn the guitar tone knob all the way down.
  23. From what i listened to, it's just a very basic loop, which the HD500 will do. The trick is getting the timing. You need to practice when to press the footswitches to start and stop recording so that it's all in time. Also, you should probably have the looper POST so the effects are recorded and it doesn't add more as it repeats.
