  1. My understanding is the Varaix connection to the various Line 6 gizmo's via the CAT-5 provides power to the Varaix and somehow, connecting to the 1/4" during this will, after awhile, not at first, potentially burn the/a circuit out. Not at first so just because it works now doesn't mean it won't burn it out later. Connecting the JTV directly to your conmputer doesn NOT provide power to the JTV since the USB output doesn't have enough power. You then have to provide power to the JTV via a battery or the TRS 1/4" power supply thing. It is OK to connect to both the 1/4" and CAT 5 on the Variax that way. But, I've always gotten noises if I wanted to use the 1/4" to hear the Variax that way.
  2. Or get an HD500 or 500X. Even a POD X3 or XT will work with the JTV although it doesn't work completely with those two. You have to jump through a hoop or two to save the guitar's model to a patch but it can be done. By switching patches you can switch between guitars. As has been stated above, you can't use both the USB connection and the 1/4" at the same time. Noise and the possibility of frying the guitar's circuits.
  3. Looking for a $200 or lower, tight fighting JTV-89F Hardshell case. Anyone have any suggestions?
  4. Yes, try updating on a different computer. I did it with one using Windows 7. Make sure your USB is connected directly and not using some kind of hub. Many of the firmware updating issues seem to have to do with USB ports not working well. Just trying a different one often works.
  5. Check this out https://soundcloud.c...c-metal-patches That's from this thread http://line6.com/support/topic/16700-new-meambobbo-patches/ His patches are in there.
  6. Don't use both the VDI and 1/4" ouputs until you read this. Go to this thread and scroll down to CipheHost's post and psarkissian's post right after his (he's a LIne 6 repairman). Apparently using both is not such a good idea. http://line6.com/support/topic/16791-anyone-done-the-treble-bleed-mod-on-jtv-69/
  7. A big difference between the XT and Helix (and the HD) is, think of the XT as a miced amp, which has then been processed by a professional recording engineer. Then think of the Helix and HD as just the miced amp, no processing at all. So you're getting a much more raw sound which, in turn, should make whatever sound you come up with, more personal. Theoretically anyway. And, like the XT, that's what the Amplifi series is about too. A preprocessed amp sound as opposed to a more raw one.

    SRV Patch?

That sounds like a good place to start. Is there a Helix area in Customtone? Might check there.
  9. The mic preamps in the X3 were very good for that. Just port them over.
  10. This is what I would do. You could determine very quickly, by comparing settings, what the problem is.
  11. Glad to hear that. Gives me hope. And yes, on to the Helix.
  12. Don't give up!!! Like I said, I've been smoke free for about three weeks but I've been "quitting" for almost two years. Never quit quitting. And remember, the urge never goes away. My dad hadn't smoked for 25 years. I lit up around him and he asked me for one. He told me then that it was his first in 25 years and that the urge never goes away. So never give up. It will be a life long process.
  13. Smoke free since Oct 31st. Almost 3 weeks!!! If I can do it, so can you. I'm not that strong.
  14. I'm having issues with Firefox. In this forum, I can't select threads. The cursor doesn't turn into the "hand" when hovering over anything. In IE it does work. Doesn't always not work in Firefox.
  15. One more way of explaining this. I'm assuming you know you have 16 banks with each bank containing 4 patches this makes 64 patches you can access. Assuming also you own the floorboard version. You can access all of these patches from your footswitches. A setlist consists of all of these patches. There are 8 slots you can store different setlists in, in your unit without using the computer. Switch to setlist 2 (or whatever you named it) and you now have 64 different patches you can access via your footswitches. Again you have 8 of those stored in your unit. A bundle is EVERY setlist you have stored in your unit. This you only save to your computer. Like patches, the setlists are stored on your unit, can be accesssed from your unit and can also be stored on your computer. A bundle however is only stored on your computer as it consists of EVERYthing stored in your unit and can only be stored and put back on your unit from your computer. Hope that helps.
  16. WARNING:WARNING. This won't work. I know according to the specs the "hole" on the connector is 2.1mm but this is WRONG!!!. 2.1mm is too small. I wasted $20 finding this out. The correct measurment is 2.5mm not 2.1mm. I was trying to get an elbow adapter for the 500 and the 2.1 didn't work. The specific measurements were. 5.5 X 2.5. This is what I got. http://www.amazon.com/BiXPower-LC53-Right-Connector-Converter/dp/B004L74PGI This size worked. I don't know why their measurements are so off.
  17. Hmmmmm. No power supplies for the HD500 available anymore? Sounds like they've bailed on the 500 (X). I wonder if they're making anymore or if they're just getting rid of what's left.
  18. Do you want 8 repeats before you strum the next chord or are you strumming your next chord before the 8 repeats are over? Do you want the repeats to be the same relative volume? In regard to the joyo, which effect are you referring to? Post the time into the video.
  19. Most effects don't have a mix parameter, for example, and based on some things in the "Bug" pinned post, it doesn't always react the way you would expect. A least create something that tells me what the extra parameters are and where they need to be to be "normal".
  20. Don't forget to have the output set to STUDIO DIRECT.
  21. There was a time (a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away) when Line 6 was a lot more open with their plans. And it bit them back, big time. Some things didn't materialize, and others took way longer than they anticipated. And since nothing ever happens the way everyone wants, there was a lot of turmoil on the forum because of it. There was so much negative commotion that the policy was changed to we'll say little to nothing about our future until we KNOW it's ready or close to ready and will definitely be out soon. i don't blame them. It took up a lot of the "space" on the forum at the time.
  22. Send it back. I've had this behavior happen with two Line 6 products. Send it back. There was no software fix before.
  23. I meant have you tried the new modeled acoustic amp in the model packs
