  1. Thanks guys. At least I know what it is no. I’ll just stick to wireless.
  2. I run my Helix plugged into my pc via USB and out to a pair of monitor speakers, I run all my pc sound through the Helix and it’s easy to run Helix Edit for experimenting with patches. Recently bought a Marshall DSL1HR and MX112 cab. Thought I’d try running the Helix into the front of that but I get horrendous white noise/static. After much swapping of cables it turns out that it’s the USB cable form the Helix to the PC that’s causing the issue, but only when I have the Helix plugged into the amp, not the monitors. Tries replacing the USB cable with one with two ferrite shields, one each end to no avail. Plugged the Helix into a USB hub which reduced the level of the noise but at the same time introduced a whine/hum type sound. If I connect the Helix to the amp (still connected to the pc) with my Xvive wireless it’s fine, no noise at all. So I could just use wireless, but then I need to remember to keep it charged and switch it off when I’m done Any ideas how to solve the noise issue when using cables? Have tried the ground lift button on the back of the Helix.
  3. Got my Helix on Saturday, first thing i did was update to 2.0 went smoothly with no incidents. Although I followed the on screen instructions and rebooted holding 7 & 8. Later rebooted again holding 9 & 10, all seems to be working normally.
  4. Update in case it helps anyone with a similar issue, I've just gone into Windows task manager and disabled something called Realtek HD Audio Manager from starting with Windows, rebooted and the Helix app seems to be playing nicely. Guessing as it's obviously audio there was some conflict with the Helix app. No idea if I ever used the Realtek thing, but I can always enable it again when I know I won't be using the Helix app. Fingers crossed that is indeed the answer.
  5. Running Win 10, but I'll give this a try
  6. Having the same issue. New unit, bought at the weekend, first thing i did was update to 2.0, did the 9 & 10'restsrt. Editor crashes every time with the message that it's stopped working.
  7. I'm downloading it from work PC, that's currently running Win 7, using Chrome, don't suppose it'll make a difference but worth a shot. Will delete everything Line 6 from my PC, reboot and start again. If that fails, I'll try my wife's laptop. Weird thing is, after I'd update on Saturday, but restarted using 7 & 8 as that's what it said on the screen and Helix Edit was working then in the brief time I tried it. Since then, all I've done is reboot the Helix doing the 9 & 10 thing. Didn't touch the PC, so nothing has changed that side, all that's changed is whatever the Helix does differently between 7 & 8 and 9 & 10. Tried it last night and got the crashing.
  8. Yeo, did all that. Editor shows version 2.00.1 Didn't have any presets to back up or reload as it's a completely new unit. Bought it Saturday and all I've had time to do with it is update the firmware to 2.0 and try out the factory presets. Going to try downloading the Helix software on my work PC, on the offchance it may make a difference.
  9. Tried deleting everything, downloaded again using chrome and reinstalled. Also tried putting a blank preset on the Helix before starting the app and also disconnecting everything from the Helix apart from the USB before starting the app. No good.
  10. Yep, crashes whether Helix is plugged in or not. Tried two different USB ports.
  11. Yep, updated the Helix app, it's at version 2.00.1
  12. Got my Helix on Saturday, updated the firmware to 2.0, all good, working as it should. If I try and run the Helix Edit app on my PC, it'll run for maybe 10 seconds, then a box pops up saying it's stopped working and closes, tried uninstalling and reinstalling, no difference. Any suggestions? Running Win 10.
  13. Currently running the Dream Rig, JTV 59, HD500X, DT25. This is purely for home use, great as it is the HD500 is way more complicated than I need. Was thinking of switching to the Firehawk, the only thing that's stopping me is the HD500 and the DT25 obviously work great together with he Line 6 link. What would I be missing out on if I switched to the Firehawk?
  14. If the light is steady, it's charging. If it's blinking, it's fully charged.
  15. Rocksmith works great with a Variax. Brilliant for all the alternate tunings :)
  16. Once you navigate all the way through the previous pages, 5 or 10 at a time, until you get to page 146 :) Even a "go to page whatever" button would be a big improvement. At least you'd be able to browse few a few and continue where you left off the next time.
  17. Had no trouble updating my DT25 with a cheap no-name eBay special USB-midi, at least not once I got the input/outputs the right way around :)
  18. Can you not update the firmware on the DT25 to access the other amp models if you don't want to keep the 500?
  19. I've taken heed of these warnings and ordered a cable with Neutrik on both ends now, I shall retire my cable the came with the Variax and just keep it for Variax updates :)
  20. The Variax comes with a cable and an interface thingy to connect it to a computer, neither of the others come with the cables to connect to each other. I'm using the cable that came with the Variax to connect to my HD500X (minus the interface box of course) although as far as I can tell any normal Ethernet cable will work. For the Pod to the DT any DMX or AES/EBU cable will work. Congratulations on the Dream Rig, completed mine last weekend and I'm loving it :)
  21. Yeah, when you think about it a bit more, it does kind of make sense out from the amp into the midi thing. Just as well I decided to give it another go, or I'd have spent another $30 on a better cable and had the same problem :)
  22. Knowing absolutely nothing about midi, it just seems totally illogical to me to plug the lead labeled In into the Out socket, but what do I know? :) At least it's working.
  23. My cheap eBay USB-Midi cable arrived today, had a go at trying to update the DT25 firmware, was getting nowhere with it earlier, kept getting mid error. Tried rebooting the PC, the amp, putting the amp in safe mode, trying different USB ports, wouldn't have it at all. After reading on the forums, I ordered a better cable off Amazon for around £23. Just came back and gave it another go, don't know why, but I thought I'd give a try to swapping the midi cabled around, I plugged the cable marked in into the out on the amp and the out on the cable to the in on the amp. Worked first time Just thought I'd put it out there in case anyone else was having the same problem, from what I've read it's quite a common issue.
  24. Don't remember if the lifts change on the amp or not, if nobody else answers in the meantime, I'll check next time I play it. If the pod is connected to the DT solely by the L6 link and you're getting sound from the amp, then it's working isn't it? Not being sarcastic by the way :) I've no idea how you tell if the L6 link is working it's magic, except by listening. Of course you could connect the pod to the front of the amp with a normal cable, listen to the same patch that way and compare it with the L6.
