What exactly are you trying to do? A snapshot is what it is...a single entity, saved in a particular location. You can't merge them. It wouldn't accomplish anything anyway... two snapshots producing different tones, layered on top of each other, will produce a wall of mud.

First of all, virtually everything sold in California...the birthplace of 99.97% of all regulations known to man...has a cancer warning label on it. The swashbuckling state legislators out there use them to pat themselves on the back for "saving lives". Not long ago they pinned it on coffee. That's right...coffee. Nuff said. You know what else causes cancer? Being alive. 25% of us will eventually be diagnosed with one form or another, including a whole bunch of non-smoking, clean living, exercise junkies. Little kids, who haven't been alive long enough to be poisoned by anything, still manage to get cancer. Life is rough. You can worry about everything you touch if you like, but it won't help. When your number's up, your number's up.

It may not be out of line, but history has shown us... repeatedly...that asking the question is useless. Eventually they'll announce the update with a vague, open-ended release window... just as they've done multiple times before. "Spring", "fall", "coming soon".... estimates that often come and go with no finished product for one reason or another. There are exactly ZERO reasons to think that this time will be any different. Architecture that allows more frequent updates doesn't mean that'll they'll be able to predict, with any certainty, when the bug- chasing will be done...and that will forever be the big question mark, and the reason that they'll never commit to anything definitive. If they haven't said anything, it's because there's nothing to say. There will never be an incentive to crank out a promise that they might not be able to keep. So whether or not the question is valid is completely irrelevant. The question has never been answered to anyone's satisfaction, least of all the "When's it coming?!?! When's it coming?!?!" crowd...so why continue to ask? It makes no sense.

I love this time of year...a chill in the air, the holidays are nearly upon us, and yet another pointless, speculative gripe-fest and wish list merry-go-round. Write a letter to Santa and ask the same question...the odds of getting any info that will turn out to be correct are about the same.

I've been playing that tune live for years...all you need is a clean tone with a little chorus and tremolo for the intro and bridge (the optical trem works nicely), and any old Marshall-y mid-gain crunch for the pre-chorus and chorus sections. Quite frankly, the guitar tones on that album are $hit awful. Multi-platinum though it may be, that record just doesn't sound good. Just about anything you come up with will be better by default...just get in the ballpark, and worry about knowing the tune. Having "the sound" doesn't mean anything if you don't have the notes under your fingers.

Don't waste your time... even if you were able to view the various settings, you're comparing apples to oranges. They are entirely different modeling engines, and merely transposing parameter settings of the same name between devices guarantees absolutely nothing in terms of what the final result will be. It wouldn't be at all surprising if they sounded nothing alike.

Not me... it's the first thing in line before a Digitech Drop, then straight into the Helix. Got no choice but to use the 1/4" out.

jtv 89f Replace neck for JTV 89 F
cruisinon2 replied to sherimehmood's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I sympathize with your plight, as I wouldn't have gotten much milage out of my JTV69 if Strat necks didn't happen to be a perfect fit. Whether that was just dumb luck or by design is anybody's guess, but either way I think you're gonna be disappointed... I'm not aware of any ready-made drop in replacements for the 89 neck pocket. If you have access to any local boutique builders/luthiers, I'm sure you could get one made to your liking, but that may be rather costly. You might find something out there that happens to fit the pocket dimensions, but unless you're very lucky, it's very likely that you'd have scale issues that will result in big intonation problems that you might not be able to compensate for at the bridge saddles. -
With two Stomps, or one Stomp and one HX, you'll have spent the cost of one LT, and be well on your way to a Helix floor. Maybe ditching the Stomp and moving up, at least to the LT, is what you need.

No, there's no standby... but regardless, the overwhelming likelihood is that your Helix will become obsolete long before it stops functioning, no matter what you do to it. And it's entirely possible that it'll outlive you...I have a Marshall 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee head that is now 32+ years old, which still turns on when I flick the switch. Don't worry about it.

Helix Input and Output levels research (almost solved)
cruisinon2 replied to zolko60's topic in Helix
Let me save you the suspense... you're gonna get two different answers: 1) Yes, there's a tremendous difference...and if you can't hear it, your ears suck. 2) No, and if you think there is a difference, you're delusional. Take your pick...- 23 replies

My complete and utter indifference cannot be measured with existing technology...;)

Yes and no... as already mentioned above snapshots will solve the gap problem for you, and you can save up to 8 snapshots per patch. If you're keeping the same tone, and all you need to do is change tempos for time- based FX, this is easily accomplished with snapshots... however, theres is no workaround if you're gonna insist on switching patches instead. That will forever be accompanied by an audible gap while the new patch loads.

First impressions after upgrading to Helix from POD HD
cruisinon2 replied to dflorey's topic in Helix
Because they're old... exactly the same as the FX of the same name in your POD HD. Feature requests need to go in Ideascale... in here, they'll never be seen by anyone who can do anything about it. -
Somewhere in the bowels of the FAQ section for the G10S, it mentions that charging a completely flat battery should take ~3.5 hours... so my guess is you're not charging it completely, regardless of what the base unit is indicating. 15 minutes for a completely dead battery isn't gonna give you much run time. Leave it charging for a few hours, and see how long it lasts... if it still doesn't have the expected battery life, then I'd say you have a bum unit.

Who knows... it's a computer, and computers get weird, patches get corrupted, etc. Sounds like you found the solution though... if the copied block works the way it should, just ditch the one that doesn't.

CLOSE THE THREAD! CLOSE THE THREAD! Please Mr. Thread police, shield my delicate sensibilities from anything uncomfortable! I can't find my safe space! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! For the love of all that is decent and holy, if this doesn't cease immediately I'm going to be late for my "Feelings are People Too" seminar. This message had been brought to you by a lack of accountability and lots and lots of trophies...;)

Still have my 500X, and you can update Variax firmware through that connection, sans battery or the notoriously fickle USB dongle... though at this point here hasn't been a Variax firmware update in years, and I seriously doubt we'll ever see another, so it's really a moot point anyway.

The best advice I can offer is DON'T SELL ANYTHING until you spend some time in the digital realm and decide if modeling is for you... not everyone makes the transition successfully. Modelers are not guitar amps, and require a significantly different approach to dialing in your sound than a tube amp. Also, the end result, whether you're happy with it or not, will not sound like your tube amps. Expect some growing pains initially.... maybe a little, maybe a lot. It varies. As for FRFR choices.... options abound now, from the reasonably priced to those requiring a home equity loan. They're all gonna do essentially the same thing, and require similar EQ adjustments... form factor and price will be the only significant differences. But as I alluded to above, no FRFR speaker will give you what you're accustomed to... the "amp in the room" sound won't be forthcoming, no matter what you choose. Modelers provide recorded guitar tone... what you'd hear through studio monitors with your favorite tube amp mic-ed up and blasting away in the next room. This is the hurdle that some just can't get past... so that's why I say don't sell off everything else you own to fund a digital rig until you know if you're gonna like the results. Some don't and return to their amps, and that's OK. Buy from someplace with a decent return policy so you can spend some time with it, and not have to worry about dumping big $$, having already unloaded your tube amps. And when I say "spend some time with it", I mean a couple of weeks or more... not just 2 hours on Saturday afternoon. That ain't gonna cut it.... there's no instant gratification with this stuff. It'll take you a little while to wrap your head around it, as was the case for the rest of us.

Them's fightin' words, lol... Not to worry, folks... it'll all work out on the end. Sooner or later Joe Average will get tired of not having access to affordable rubber dog $hit and "Made in China" American flags, and POOF!...a deal will miraculously be reached. ;)

Normally at this point I'd crack wise about little maple candies and weird round bacon... but truth be told, these days I'm genuinely envious. It's a $hit-show down here. ;)

"None of the above"...;)

This is the best "I want what I want because I want it, and damn the torpedoes!" thread, EVER... lmao.

My foot hurts, and L6 doesn't have a staff podiatrist. Which way to the complaint department?

Every belch and fart in the world is politicized now, and absolutely everything has to be labeled somebody's "fault". Politicians love it when the populace is at each other's throats... makes them feel like they're actually important. After all, why else would two complete strangers be willing to beat each other to a pulp over a hat that one of them is wearing? But I digress...I'm genuinely mystified that it doesn't creep into discussions more often around here. Generally speaking, there is remarkable restraint on this forum, in that regard. I fully expect it to get worse over the next year, though... I'll be shocked if it doesn't.
