Spider IV 15 "ground" noise when using phones output
fflbrgst replied to lduperval's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
The headphone output is stereo, so you need a TRS plug into the amp, with the appropriate adapter to go into whatever input device you are using - if it has a stereo input, then adapt to that. If it is mono, you need to use a stereo-to-mono adapter. Don't get a balanced TRS signal path mixed up with a stereo TRS - two different things. -
Use a PRS guitar with long-sustaining humbuckers! After that, it's a matter of finding a sound in the amp you like - not too much drive, some compression.

Computer Recording with POD HD 300
fflbrgst replied to RockinRed2911's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Yes! (Well, I can't as I don't have a Mac.) -
I assume you mean the wah-volume pedal? A little silicone spray lube (like used for sliding windows) might work. Don't use WD40!

Computer Recording with POD HD 300
fflbrgst replied to RockinRed2911's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
You'll need some type of DAW - recording software, like Audacity, Reaper, Reason, Logic, ProTools. -
Yes, correct - these are preset sound patches only, not actual music files. Use the 4-way selection switch and 'presets' knob next to it to cycle through the patches.
-
I assume you are selecting a sound patch from the artist/song banks. You need to save this to a User Patch location (1-16, a,b,c,d). Then you can select that User Patch location from the Shortboard.

Spider Valve MKII display question
fflbrgst replied to miller1232's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
You might want to post this over in the Spider Valve section of these forums. -
No, you can't use the Shortboard to access the song/artist presets - you need to copy them into a User Patch location first to do that, as you can only access the Patch banks (1-16) using the up/down buttons, and the a,b,c,d locations in each bank. You can use any of the banks and locations to make your own sounds, or to copy the song/artist sounds to, not just bank 16. generally, you will find that putting two sets of FX on sounds doesn't work well. You could use a distortion/fuzz sound from the Boss into a clean patch on the Spider, then use phaser/flanger/delay on the Spider (as an example). Using distortion on both would likely result in a muddy indistinct sound, as would using a time-based effect (phaser for example) on the Boss, then running it through the distortion of the amp. You'll have to experiment to see what works best for you.

line 6 spyder edit presets
fflbrgst replied to Cottrell11's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
You should be able to drag and drop them - make sure they are Spider tones - you can't do it with PodFarm or tones designed for other Line 6 devices.- 1 reply

Not sure what you mean - assume you mean user patch location 16. I think these may have been left empty in the original factory settings (it's been a long time since I got my Spider IV). User patch locations 1-16 (a, b, c, d) are locations that you can save your custom patches to. The pre-loaded patches in the other user locations are copied from the song/artist patches - these are tones for you to 'start' finding what you want for sounds.

Toneport UX1 vs Pro Tools 12
fflbrgst replied to strungoutxxx's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
I don't believe Audition uses ASIO, that could be your problem. Switch to another DAW (try Reaper, its free to download, $60 to register). -
Which Spider IV do you have? factory reset sets all the preset patches back to how they come out of the factory, so any custom patches you saved in the user locations (assuming this is a 75 or higher model) would be gone. If all the patches sound the same, he may have saved each one separately after doing the factory reset. If this is a 15 or 30, you only have 4 patch locations, and he may have held in each button in turn, saving the current sound in each one - you can revert back to the factory settings again by doing another factory reset.

Toneport UX1 vs Pro Tools 12
fflbrgst replied to strungoutxxx's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Why are you using ASIO4ALL? Download the correct drivers from the Line 6 site. -
Spider 3s are a fairly old model. I think the only place you are likely to find any more info on them is by doing youtube searches. You can also try in the 'legacy' section of these forums. The green and red settings are with the Spider 4, not 3. The head goes for $100 or less used, so you basically got a free cabinet (or head, depending on how you look at it).
-
You can use either the FBV MkII Express or Shortboard.
-
You need to plug BOTH amp outputs into the cabinet (there are left and right inputs on the cabinet), otherwise an imbalance will be created in the amp which could eventually cause something to blow in it. This gives you a total of 150 watts. If you are running a mono sound (i.e no stereo flanging, reverb, etc), then you are getting a full 150 watts mono output. Even if you run a stereo sound, it's still 150 watts (75+75). Tech support - its 'self help' at Line 6. There are lots of FAQs on the site, there are these help forums.

Cant get ux1 to work with windows 10
fflbrgst replied to ticaw's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Select 16 bit 46kHz bit/sample rate and see if that works for you. this was an early solution to the Win10 problem, I thought Line 6 had updated their drivers accordingly. -

Line 6 spider iv 15 watt rock settings
fflbrgst replied to bobby94's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
Yes, you need to adjust the Drive and tone to get the sound you are looking for. Note, you cannot download tones from CustomTone to that Spider Amp, that feature is only available for the 75 and higher models. -
Sounds like the switch that's supposed to cut out the speaker volume when you plug in headphones is jammed off. Get it to the service center before your warranty runs out!

fbv mk11 express and spider iv 75w
fflbrgst replied to foofighterux2's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
That's the way it works! The Express only has capability to switch between the 4 patch locations in the currently selected USER BANK. If you want to use any of the artist or song patches and switch between them with the Express, you need to save those patches to User Bank locations.
