L6 looooves to put an X wherever they can...

Idk jack squat about the amplifi, but if you could turn the amp modeling off, maybe that could be the key..?

To each his own. To me it just sounds like a first world problem

My father in laws windows tablet (the only option for this, so it seems) is about as heavy as a laptop.

You don't want to play live while connected to edit. The pod will be slower, can get glitchy, and doesn't revert to your default patch settings when you change patches

it might seem like rocket science at first, it was for me, but once you become a rocket scientist it's cake. I've had my 500x for almost a year now and I'm super happy and comfortable with it

Thanks guys. I think I'll do fine but I love to be well prepared. No clips yet as these guys have only been together for a couple months and have about 20 songs on their list. What attracted me to these guys is the fact that they don't really do a whole bunch of Blues, not that I have anything against the blues, but the blues song after blues song can get pretty boring for me. they have more rocking songs, like Hard to Handle by The Black Crowes, a bunch of Zeppelin songs, a few Beatles songs and some David Bowie, the Who, Tom Petty.. I do try to listen to any other cover versions of songs to get a good range of what might happen comma and since I almost always improvise solos, I will probably take a few well known licks from the songs and throw them in there.

That one. Thanks silver, but at this point I'm not looking to replicate the exact sound I hear on the records. And it's just an audition in a band with another guitarist so for some of the songs I'm not sure if I'm taking more of a rhythm role or what. I just have a couple of models that I use for just about all the songs. tweaking the models to sound exactly like the records sounds fun but at this point I think it could be a lot of unnecessary work. although I do appreciate any information thrown at me

so I've never really done this cover band stuff before (I've played a retirement party with my dad and some guys once), but I've been playing guitar for literally my life and have played in some original bands, toured, Studio sessions, recorded albums. I turn 30 in a couple months and these guys are 40+. their song list includes some songs that i have never tried to play before but are fairly easy and I'm picking them up fairly fast, and a bunch of Zeppelin Tunes I kind of already know. I know a lot of the guys here are in cover bands and have been for a while, but what are some tips and advice if you could give? I use a pod hd500x into an Alto TS112a wedge and there's another dedicated guitarist in the band. Thanks

go to the top of the custom tone screen and click the page with your uploads and click one. you should be able to find an edit button somewhere. But beware, I'm just going off of my horrible memory so I could be wrong

If you haven't changed this already: Input 1: Guitar Input 2: Aux (or Variax or mic, just not same or guitar)

Assigning the foot switch to Volume on ALL patches
AlexKenivel replied to dutchgunz's topic in POD HD
^this is what I do. Unfortunately there's no global setting, so y I d have to tediously change each patch one by one. I suggest doing this after normalizing volumes of the patches. Welcome to rocket science. -
As of right now, I have one set list for all my tones I've made, one for downloaded tones, and one called Pallette that I change and add to depending on what situation I'm going to be playing and one for specific cover tones. The rest are blank.
-
It depends on where you want things. Since there's only one loop and one place to put it, you have to decide where you want the effects and if you want them permanently next to each other

I use a tube comp as a gain stage sometimes. Not too often anymore but it works well with some amps. But on the topic of complexity, sometimes I like to make patches that mimic synthesizers. Those can get pretty complex.
-
When I first got my 500x, my first main high gain chain was something like this: Gate>comp>screamer>gate>dual amps>Parametric EQ and then whatever delay or verb I wanted. I think after a while I realized the extra Gate and comp weren't necessary, and then I whittled it down to one amp/cab with some knob tweaking to get it to sound almost the same. Turns out that things sounded better with less in the chain.

you have to assign both amps to the same foot switch, turn one of them off MANUALLY with the ENTER button, and then the foot switch will toggle between them. Also, when you turn an amp off, the CHANNEL VOLUME will turn into a BYPASS VOLUME, which you would want to turn down to completely mute that path

Tweak patches via headphones or powered speaker
AlexKenivel replied to Indianrock2020's topic in POD HD
Powered speakers over headphones for me -
I'll check it out next time I'm sitting down with the unit Edit: well that didn't take long. I get home in the wife is ready to nap with a baby so that gives me some time :D I hooked everything up and my Tred patch isn't any louder then my other patches. Nothing is clipping over here. And to comment on the fizz coming from your "cheap monitors", every time I put my pod through inadequate speakers I hear more thin fizz on just everything
-
Lol, turn it down then :D I don't really use/like the Tread because of its top end. You can turn down the highs in the PEQ
-
My headphones out is pretty wonky too. It only plays on the left side and I only get full signal from my left XLR output, and the right one is Harsh and quiet. the unit was practically new when I found this out. hopefully if you can find it worthwhile solution I could find some help from it too

Or you could just describe what's going on..
