1. I’m not sure that is an entirely valid premise. I personally use Helix with FRFR but there are plenty of folks using it successfully in front of and/or into the effects loop of real amps, whether straight in or with 4-Cable-Method.
2. I haven’t been on in a while so I missed out on the Big Black Bar. Enjoyed the memes thoroughly though. I have to say that, having clicked on the new Little Black Orb With A Question Mark, there is nothing in there that I feel needs to be available from every single screen in one click. I’m on the forums on mobile more than desktop and screen real estate is at a premium. In the opinion of this forum dweller, it could go away entirely and it would be best if it did. I just don’t see that it serves much purpose. In the interest of keeping the discussion level, has anybody out there found this to be a feature that added value or utility to their use of the forum?
3. I’m not sure what goes into the onboard pedals photoreceptor, but there sure isn’t much juice required to evaluate the resistance across the pot in your external pedals. And there is nothing special about the pots in a Line 6 specific pedal other than that it is 0-10k ohms. I built my own expression pedals with run-of-the-mill pots from Dunlop and they perform without any issue. If you have a multimeter it might be an interesting excercise to see what kind of resistance it’s reading at heel-down and toe-down when it’s working and when it’s not. You should be able to do this by measuring from tip to sleeve on your pedal’s cable. Appropriate readings should be 0 ohms at heel-down and 10k ohms at toe-down. It the resistance of the pot is consistant but the position interpreted by Helix differs that would indicate pretty strongly that Helix is the problem. The fact that the onboard pedal suffers the same affliction already indicates that pretty heavily in my opinion... I’ll be interested to hear what Line 6 has to say! I use two external expression pedals and the onboard routinely and can’t say I’ve ever encountered this behaviour...
4. I too would like to see a picture of the block routing. I use the Deluxe Reverb a lot and just about always have reverb and vibe in my presets. No issues. Something is definitely up here..,
5. You are correct, turning down the “Mix†parameter will introduce dry signal which is (probably) not what you want. The way I would approach this would be to us an A/B split block and adjust it toward the guitar cab to taste. Another interesting option is to use a Crossover split block and send low frequencies to the bass cab and everything else to the guitar cab. Fun stuff to play with!
6. I see that post now, I had kind of forgotten that section existed, thanks for setting me straight! And for the TGP quote. Sorry for the delayed response, after making that post I was unable to log in for a day or so....
7. I’ve been unable to log in on any device at any time for the last few days. It’s bizarre. It’s also bizarre that this has persisted for so long without any communication (that I’m aware of) from moderators or developers about what’s going on, or an acknowledgement that anyone over there is even aware of it. Maybe they are actively discussing it over on TGP...
8. I don't have the rack mount Pitchblack, but I have the pedal version and do like it a lot. I find the Helix tuner is fine for typical playing and tuning, but when I need gnats a$$ precision and consistency, for instance when setting intonation, I go to my Pitchblack. Not sure exactly what you are experiencing with the Helix tuner, but changing the tuner input from "Multi" to "Guitar" has helped a lot of us.
9. Interesting point. When I encountered it it was also with a reverb pedal, a Malekko Spring Chicken. Can't say I've tried it with anything else...
10. Glad I could help! Bummer to have to re-design the patch, but at least you can know what you’re trying to fix ðŸ‘
11. If you move FX Loop 4 from the parallel path up to either before the split or after the merge, does the problem resolve? The factor that your troubleshooting has not addressed is that only Loop 4 is set in parallel to another signal path. I suspect that if you move one of the other loops down there, then it would suddenly be the troublesome one. I have experienced "phasing" issues when running a pedal in an FX Loop on a parallel path, which I attribute to half of the signal being subject the small latency introduced by the extra cabling and the circuitry of the pedal itself while the other half of the signal is not.
12. Likewise. I have to clear the browser cache and log back in each time I want to access the forum. I was able to access it with a private browsing tab in Firefox as well. This has been the case on my phone and iPad, no problem with the desktop computer.
13. That is correct. After the amp I’ll split the path, put a 1x12 on one path and a 2x12 on the other, then merge them back together. I used to use an A/B splt and play with the balance between the two, but anymore I tend to just go with the even split. And yes, I was very pleasantly surprised by the GFS Dream 90s!
14. I am still having to wipe the cache and log back in to get access. Interestingly, I’ve just discovered that a “private†browser tab allows me to get in when a standard one gives me the error. Like now; couldn’t access the forum, opened a private tab, got right in. Dunno...
15. I’ve been having to wipe the cache and history in my browser pretty much every time I want to open this forum, otherwise I get:
We’re sorry,

There seems to be a problem with the page you’ve requested.

Please try again later</> Wipe cache and history, get right in. Interestingly, relative to the OPs comment, I’ve been able to access all of the other forums without difficulty, just not Helix.
16. I use the Deluxe Reverb model extensively and like the cleans a lot. I’ve had the best luck by running a 1x12 and 2x12 in parallel. I also use Ownhammer IRs and find that the OH1 and OH1F mixes (a mix of SM57 and R121 mics) from the Quick Start folder sound most like what my ears want to hear. These clips were recorded via USB straight into Logic Pro. It’s a Thinline Tele with GFS Dream 90s rather than a Les Paul with humbuckers, but it will give you an idea of how that arrangement sounds: https://soundcloud.com/vb-tunes/sets/dream-90-thinline-telecaster I hope that helps!

18. "The chief impedance is 250...250 and 80...80 and 250.... The two impedances are 250 and 80...and 32.... The *three* impedances are 250, 80, and 32...and 600.... The *four*...no... *Amongst* the impedances are such values as 250, 80, 32, 600.... I'll come in again" (And nice red uniforms..)
19. You can configure it so that the bypass state (on/off) is controlled by the expression pedal position. I set mine up so that anything greater than 0% on the expression pedal turns the tremolo on, then you have your whole control sweep, and going back to 0% (heel-down) turns it back off.
20. Wouldn’t necessarily have to be on al the time, the auto-bypass works very well for this. I use an external expression pedal set for tremolo on just about every single patch, I really like it.
21. Except when they’re 80ohms. They come in both flavors. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DT770pro80d2?gclid=Cj0KCQiAzrTUBRCnARIsAL0mqcwTZ48mS36uq-UbsY9qfFa55xXmTpFaC0oVx9P3hjh6yXRSO3DvSuYaAsDxEALw_wcB
22. I’m going to play devil’s advocate here... Stylistically I didn’t care for her rendition of the song: I found the sultry delivery to be out of place and the vocal stylings were at times... unusual..... That said I didn’t see where her performance was poor. Unique, certainly, but not botched. I don’t get all the hub-bub...
23. Pavarotti is a tenor, Paganini WAS a composer...
24. I would submit a trouble ticket with Line 6, that doesn’t sound right at all. I use the same headphones and can crank them to the point of discomfort without encountering any distortion.
