  1. Or the ability to connect Helix to my Windows 10 machine?
  2. Very nice. Come As You Are is my “gold standard” chorus tone. It’s what I always play when dialing one in, haha! Which Helix chorus did you use for this?
  3. Man, that is some pretty impressive production. Sounds great! I really enjoyed the video.
  4. I’m not a country guy, but I likewise get everything I need out of the Deluxe Reverb model. It’s the only amp in my workhorse patches anymore. Helix could have just that amp and I’d be happy, haha!
  5. I ran into this when I tried to connect Helix to my Windows 10 machine, screwed with it forever and it would not talk. For now I’ve just gone back to using my iMac which works fine, but it is frustrating as I want to dedicate the Windows machine to music stuff and this is a wrench in the works....
  6. If you dig back to old threads where DI has dangled update teasers here, you’ll probably start to understand why he doesn’t. It is mostly wailing, moaning and gnashing of teeth as people criticize the functionality of features they’ve not yet seen, gripe about the developers decisions on what new things to include, and go on about how Line6 doesn’t do enough free updates. I wouldn’t post that stuff here either!
  7. That was a right impressive performance! I don’t have any particular insight regarding nailing the tone, but my appreciation for Golden Earring has gone up two full notches.
  8. Probably because it is completely true? I’m honestly not trying to be combative or condescending, but I cannot wrap my head around this entitled mindset. Ultimately, your expectations and demands simply don’t automatically equal someone elses obligation. You bought a product. You either thought the price was fair for the product as-is or you found it overpriced and gambled on its value appreciating in a way that would eventually satisfy you. Either way it was your choice. Own your decision.
  9. This thread is a hoot. Glenn you are a class act. Just purchased your organ patch, call this effective advertising!
  10. I don’t really know how that would work, although I’d be willing to bet that it would have more to do with the disappointed person’s expectations of the free update than with the actual content of said update. Personally I think the entertainment value of the release notes alone was worth the price of admission! It will be a couple of weeks before I can update, but I am looking forward to the tuner upgrade and options. Marketplace is probably not for me, but I expect it will be great for some and will doubtless be good for the platform in general. Thanks Line 6!
  11. I actually contacted Line 6 directly on this a while back and was told: <ahem> "Quote: Hi, You're good to go using an external switch. Your proposed set up will not damage the Helix at all. Have fun! Thanks, Will - Line 6 Support"
  12. I didn't intend any of my comments to be directed at you, and apologize if it came across that way. I was referring to the the "culture of offense" in general. There are complications inherent in a text based discussion... As I said, this has been a refreshingly civil discussion all around! Now there's a point I believe we can all agree on, haha! I'm only really active on a couple of guitar-centric forums, but I have certainly noticed that to be the case. There are any number of conclusions that could be drawn as to the "why" of that, who knows? Not that it's exactly what you are pointing out here, but it leads me to this thought: There is a difference between censorship and respectfully guarding ones tongue in mixed company. I suppose it is probably wise to err on the conservative side when one really doesn't know who is behind the forum screen names...
  13. Well said on all points! This has been a refreshingly civil discussion, but that said it is worth noting that the forum moderators rarely if ever demonstrate their existence under any circumstances... I think that generally speaking no one is getting upset that people are reacting negatively to these sorts of things (honestly it is undoubtedly part of the motivation). Where the battle lines tend to get drawn is when the offended group decides that the thing they disagree with should not be allowed to exist because they disagree with it, or that a person expressing objectionable viewpoints must be destroyed. The free exchange of ideas and freedom to express yourself and your beliefs requires give-and-take from both sides: Yes, you are free to entertain and express unpopular thoughts and opinions. Yes, others are free to disagree loudly. For the system to work, both sides must tolerate the existence of things they don't like. When it comes to marketing ploys like this one, you are given great leverage: vote with your wallet! If Steel Panther has mis-judged their demographic, then they are going to take a hit in the pocketbook (It made me laugh, but I'm not buying one...). The same is true of the hypothetical "N-Word" guitar pedal in the illustration above: nobody is going to buy one. Problem solved. However if it were a piece of equipment marketed to rap/hip hop artists, where that word is tossed around more freely among peers, it might be a different story. At any rate I believe it comes down to recognizing that for any concept there are going to be people who think it's great and people who think it's awful and people who don't much care either way. If we find we have to do away with everything that anybody disagrees with then there isn't going to be much left. The more treacherous path I think is deciding that one small group is allowed to decide what may and what may not exist based on their own ideals.....
  14. I hadn’t heard of this, but if you asked me to imagine a Steel Panther pedal it would be exactly that. Who could possibly expect anything different? I think it’s hilarious. I wonder what cheeky name they’d come up with for the Helix model?
  15. Going by what you’ve described, it sounds a lot like the switch just isn’t being fully actuated when you press on it with the treadle. You should be able to adjust the switch mounting hardware so it sits higher which will make it easier to depress with your foot.
  16. I have these same questions and one more: 4 How does Helix factor into this rig? Is all of that in the loops or is Helix just another “pedal” in the chain? Assuming that isn’t a joke, I would really just be interested to hear all about that rig.
  17. This should be a good approach. Legend has it the guitar was plugged straight in to the the recording console for that sound.
  18. Press down on the “Preset” button/knob on the left, then navigate with the joystick.
  19. If that studio is "humble", then I can't begin to imagine what the word for my little space would be. You've definitely got it going on, very nice.
  20. I'm a little behind the rest of you as I've been traveling for work, but I got Helix updated to 2.60 with no issues. Taking a moment to post and say that they absolutely NAILED it with that DS-1 Mod. NAILED it, I say! DS-1 was my first pedal back in the early 90s and I have always had a thing for it ever since. I've owned them stock, modded, I've modded them myself; it's a pedal I'm well acquainted with and, one more time, they just NAILED it! I haven't had one on my board since moving to Helix and I hadn't realized how much I missed it. Great job and thanks, Line 6 guys!
  21. And if you don’t want it always on, you can also assign its bypass command to the external expression pedal’s position.
