  1. Like Phil said, “50” on the mix knob is a bit of a misnomer: it is actually unison (or as close as that particular delay model will come to unison) for the repeats. Below that the repeats will be more subtle, above that your dry signal will diminish. What configuration is it that you are trying to attain?
  2. I wonder what they would have told Brian May. What a bunch of hosers. Did they go on to be Nickelback? To the OP: how are you monitoring?
  3. This. I run my fuzzes in front of Helix instead of in loops for this reason. Works just fine that way too.
  4. This is the frustrating thing about proprietary file formats and DRM implementation. Same with e-books. I pay full price, sometimes even more than the price for paperback, and yet Barnes and Noble is able to tell me that I can only read it on their device? Do I own it or not?
  5. A 71 page (last I looked) thread about a firmware that hasn’t even materialized yet, classic!
  6. I had no idea they were doing this on the Marketplace, how lame. I don’t really buy that it makes things any easier on the end user, the manual tells you exactly what kind of .wav files Helix wants to see. You just go in and use those. I sure hope that the IRs on the Marketplace are significantly discounted, otherwise you’re paying full price for limited functionality.
  7. I moved to southern Arizona and now my lawn is rocks. They don't grow and you never have to fertilize them. It is the best.
  8. Oh, is there an update coming? With a King of Tone you say? And improved Helix/PC+ interaction? Nah, I definitely have not been checking, and that is totally not why I came by just now. At 3am. Totally not.
  9. Gotcha, understood. I just watched the video in forum window and so didn't see the content in in the description. It’s way cool regardless!
  10. That is really cool! I’d love to know more about what you have set up there.
  11. I’ve never seen that list, interesting! I believe there is a programmed hard limit of 1x2048 IR or 2x1024 IR block (also 2xHX Cabs) per path. I can’t find where I read that, but it is my understanding.
  12. I’m a big fan of the Barefoot Buttons. While not inexpensive, they’ve been a great addition to my Helix. They prevent accidental activation of the capacitive touch functions, which plagued me, but you can still activate them intentionally by touching the buttons set screws. It’s great. The clear ones even let you see the LED rings. I use the regular ones up front and taller ones in the back for easy accessibility. Also they feel better on your feet (as the name implies) and they look bodacious. Especially in the dark.
  13. If you are referring to mine, it is a PedalTrain Terra42. It’s a very good fit for Helix. It is a bit of a pain to travel with on account of its size and weight, it’s kind of a beast with all those goodies on it. However it is extremely sturdy and the Helix and pedals are affixed with 3M Dual Lock which is pretty much like welding them in place, nothing moves. There is a PedalPower2 mounted underneath, and the PedalPower, Helix and BlueSky are plugged into a power-strip mounted on the board, so there is only one electrical connection to make. So in that regard it does travel well. I don’t have the hard case, but if I had to move it often I would invest in that. Here is a better (and more recent) picture:
  14. Perhaps it is just easier to get consistent sound night after night?
  15. I think he’s looking for someone to confirm that they have the same preset in that location in their HX Effects, verifying that his is not somehow corrupted.
  16. I’m traveling for work or else I’d be happy to do it for you. If you are still looking in a couple of weeks check back in and I’ll do it.
  17. I use an FX Loop Return block at the end of my signal chain and plug my phone into that. Alternatively you could plug your phone into the Aux input and run a dedicated signal path from the Aux input straight to your output.
  18. That does look like an interesting speaker. Generally the stereo image from a single cabinet is fairly uninspired, have you heard the Space Station for yourself? For now I’ve gotten myself into a pair of PowerCab Plus cabs and have really been liking them.
  19. Hi rzumwalt, Nixie is a program that lets you use your computer as an interface with BigSky, TimeLine or Mobius. It makes importing/exporting/copying/organizing presets a breeze, and you can manipulate the pedal in realtime with the on-screen controls. It is a Strymon program and can be downloaded free from their website: https://www.strymon.net/support/nixie/ In order to connect the pedal to your computer, you'l need a MIDI-to-USB cable. I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-UNO/dp/B00007JRBM/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=midisport+uno&qid=1558064973&s=gateway&sr=8-1
  20. Every millisecond counts when your band covers “You Suffer” by Napalm Death!
  21. Or the DigiTech Drop that your guitar goes into first is on? Maybe? That is certainly an odd one, and assuming there isn’t something like I (in jest) described above going on I’d most definitely be submitting a ticket or just taking the unit back for a swap if you have a good return policy. If you use a pitch shifter in the Stomp to generate an octave does it produce the correct note or is it a minor 3rd off?
  22. It’s kind of like each rabbit hole just leads to more rabbit holes....
  23. I recently encountered an issue where my Helix was randomly and frequently forgetting all controller assignments, everything controlled by a footswitch or expression pedal. It was not in conjunction with using HX Edit, but it sounds like a pretty similar kind of glitchiness. I worked with Tech Support and ended up doing a full reset, re-installing the firmware and then re-building all of my patches from scratch to avoid potentially re-importing the problem. It was a nightmare while it was going on and a pain in the rear to get it resolved, but it has not happened since.....
  24. Amen! It takes months/years of dedicated, focused use to really learn an amplifier, real or modeled. Even a new pedal can have a learning curve of many weeks. In the "real world", few of us are ever in a position to sit in a room with 50+ amps every day and pick the one we want; we get an amp and we learn how to wring every last thing out of it. Owning two amps is tall cotton. The expectation seems to be that when we select an amp in Helix it will magically sound like it was dialed in to our gear and environment by an expert, but in reality it is still our job to become that expert. More amps will not eliminate the need to actually learn how to use them.....
