I gave it some thought, and I don't have the time to make the transition at this time.

I'll have to try it later on mine. I've never tried two volume blocks in one preset before. I did notice though that your wet path contains an IR and you are routing that in front of your amp model. You may not get the desired "wet/dry/wet" sound that you are looking for that way. Not to mention the wet path with IR then going through the amp and another cabinet may sound really dead because you are routing that side through an IR and cabinet. Your wet path should be in parallel after your amp/cab model to simulate separate dry cabinet and wet cabinet sounds. What you are doing is not wrong, but it is not modeling a wet/dry system. It is modeling a parallel effect path in front of an amp.

I have a feeling both your volume blocks are being controlled by the same expression pedal. Try removing the volume block that effects the entire preset and just leave the one on the wet path. Post a picture of your screen if you can as well so we can see how your preset is set up.

I am not sure. I haven't tried two volume blocks in one preset using EXP 2 and EXP 1. I don't see why it wouldn't work. I'll have to try it when I am in front of my Helix later. Maybe someone else will chime in. I don't remember there being a "Gain" parameter associated with the volume block though. If you scroll to 3:05 in the video it shows him selecting Volume/Pan>stereo>Volume Pedal. He does not select gain or pan. Those are two different things. There are three selections: volume, gain, pan. Choose volume.

...Well, got more coffee and I can't find a post from DI saying anything about IR file management. I guess I was just fantasizing...which I often do.
-
If you just have the on board expression pedal, you can use EXP1 for the wet path. You will have to use the toe switch in the expression pedal to switch to EXP1 to control the wet path, then back to EXP2 to control the whole preset.

I think I recall DI mentioning the IR thing, but it could me my current low caffeine state. ***going to get more coffee***

I would guess that it is a NO-GO. It would be the same as purchasing the IRs, then emailing the files to your buddy.
-
You just need to drop a volume block into that parallel path. You don't even need to assign the expression pedal to it because it defaults to EXP2. Just drop the block in and it should work.

If you do leave your computer and Helix powered up all the time, have them plugged into a good UPS. It provides voltage regulation/filtering during brown outs as well as power during black out. https://www.amazon.com/APC-Battery-Backup-Protector-BE750G/dp/B000Z80ICM

Let me see if the 2 year warranty is transferable. I bought my floor model at Sweetwater around August I believe.

Keep this post going with all of your confirmed bag/case choices. Good info!

I am hoping with the new 2.20 coming out soon, that it is on there. They mentioned better file management of IRs specifically. Maybe that will include global parameters. Fingers crossed...

Very nice. The SKB is a "semi-hard" case. It has rigid sides and back, just the flap is not rigid. So, there's a little extra protection in it. Still,$59-79 is pretty good!

Top right hand side of the screen where your user name is. Click the down arrow, then click Manage Ignore Prefs. You can select to ignore all his posts, but the thread still exists with all the replies. At least you can't see what he posts directly.

If anyone is looking for a good, reasonably priced case for their helix floor here is what I found. 1/2 the price of the Line 6 backpack. I also re-purposed some packaging foam to fill in the gaps and cut out some spots for my G10. Now I just grab this case, a guitar or two, and away I go. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/1SKB-SC2316

I repurposed some closed cell foam packaging material to fill in the gaps for the Helix and made cutouts for the G10. Now I just grab this case, a guitar or two, and away I go. This is the SKB case I used. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/1SKB-SC2316

I may be interested. Where and when did you purchase it? Just wondering about warranty.
-
Do you get any sound out of it if you plug in your guitar? Maybe it is indeed powering up, but the screen is just going out.
-
If the return adds gain, then that would amplify any noise already there in front of the high gain amp model, then amplified further at the amp model.

I have noticed some other strange volume related issues when I had volume block assigned to EXP1. Not just the normal drop to 1%, but once or twice a slow decrease in volume. I have had no issues once I reassigned all my volume blocks in all my presets to EXP2 (default).
-
NOW were talkin'! Maybe I'll start a whole thread of "my preset is so fat..." jokes.
-
Which expression pedal do you have assigned to the volume block?

If you do post some clips, please start a new thread. This one has hit the bottom of the barrel. And if you are taking requests... Please do Syncronicity II, Bring on the Night, and Murder by Numbers :D

I was listening to the Police box set last weekend, and my youngest daughter yells out loud "OK already, put on the red light...we get it!." Kids these days...
