  1. Perspective is indeed a great thing. We are now in the days of modeled guitar effects and amps in a fully digital format. It is indeed a time of great luxury. This thread contains comments about the new firmware revision soon to come out. A few of us would like to see the tuner improved. It will most likely continued to get mentioned, the same as many requesting a model of the Mesa JP2-C or midi synchronization. We're just all a bunch of players that post what we crave, and our cravings differ from one another. Some of us are just a bit picky about our tuners, no biggie.

    Helix questions

You shouldn't need any drivers on your Macbook to connect with Helix. Try using a different USB port on your laptop. Also try another cable if you have one. With Apple products, you just connect and it should see it. Go to Settings>sound to see if Helix shows up as an option. You may have to manually select Helix rather than internal speakers.
  3. The tuner has become a hindrance to me, and was extremely frustrating to me at rehearsal again last night. I am ordering a Polytune clip this week. Then when the HX tuner algorithms are fine tuned later on down the road, I won't have to use the Clip any more. No biggie. It's just a personal preference thing for me. I am extremely OCD about tuning. It drives my wife nuts when I mess with my guitar setups and intonation for hours. I just tell her it's all part of my hobby. It's a sickness really, but you won't be able to accuse me of being out of tune no matter where I am on the fret board.
  4. Maybe opening a support ticket or contacting technical support directly may be needed.
  5. I do a weekly backup of bundle, setlists AND individual preset exports. I name the folders with the date. I also have all my IR file names start with the slot number in the Helix (001-128) so they are easy to import in one shot. I tend to be OCD on file management though.
  6. I'm going with a Polytune Clip. Line 6 can just work on more amp/effect models :D
  7. The Cube only has a 12" speaker, so it won't get you in the "full range" territory. The Alto TS210 (single 10" speaker and HF driver) is $249 at Guitar Center.
  8. Good deal, thanks for the update. So many time someone posts something about a problem, but when they find out it was something they were doing, they don't post an update. It's pretty easy to get distracted during the export/import process. I've come close to blowing away a setlist that would have taken weeks to rebuild from scratch. This forum is a great place to post our "oops" items, so all can learn from them.
  9. Did you make a backup of all your presets and/or setlists using editor?
  10. Make sure the footswitch is clean. You may try a factory reset, but it sounds like a hardware problem. You may have to open a support ticket with Line 6.
  11. Sounds like you are working your way though it.
  12. Yeah, I saw that after posting. I was hoping he was conjuring some voodoo magic to make that happen, but he is not.
  13. I wonder is Scott got this feedback purely within the digital realm of the Helix...
  14. I've been trying to simulate within Helix (no external speakers), but haven't been able to come close. I can get some great sustain, but no feedback in the digital realm world so far.
  15. They already know about it. We all thought it would have been taken care of in v2.12, but it wasn't.
  16. That makes sense. So when you are pushing the cable in, the cable bottoms out on the metal USB receptacle, and not the housing. This causes stress at the solder points on the USB receptacle/circuit board causing the solder points to fail. On my unit, the receptacle does not stick out past the plastic housing of the base unit. That makes me wonder that if you took the housing off the base, if you could loosen the circuit board mounting screws and scoot the board back a little so that the USB receptacle does not stick out too far. I have never taken the base apart though.
  17. Yes, I think so. On board expression pedal set to EXP1 for controlling volume of chain A. External pedal assigned to EXP2 for controlling volume of the other chain. I have the same type of physical set up, but set up on board for EXP1/EXP2 and the external as EXP3. So in your case, change chain A for the on board pedal to EXP2, and the volume for chain B for EXP3. You should be in good shape doing it that way.
  18. I just quoted this so you can see if you get a notification.
  19. 1. If someone quotes your post, then you should get a notification. If it is not quoted, then no notification. 2. The issue seems to be with the on board expression pedal and volume block assignment. Using the onboard pedals, I set all of my volume blocks to EXP2, and wahs to EXP1. I use an external EXP3 for everything else. I don't have any issues with volume drop after doing this. I am also on v2.12.
  20. If you have your volume block set to be controlled with EXP1, change it to EXP2. That seemed to do the trick for me. EXP2 is default for volume. EXP1 is default for wahs.
  21. That's probably because the signal is totally dry, no effect blocks whatsoever, including no volume block controlled by the expression pedal.
  22. Kind of sounds like the volume block/expression pedal volume drop bug, but that doesn't explain how restarting your mac fixed it. Did you change presets during your troubleshooting to see if that brought back your sound?
  23. 3 weeks of almost daily use, home and live. Zero issues, zero dropouts. I did notice that my transmitter was not on the latest firmware, so I updated to 1.04.
  24. If you are connected to PC/Mac via USB when it freezes, just try unplugging the USB cable to see if it unfreezes. I haven't had any freezes since 2.10, but when it did, I was connected to editor. I just unplugged the USB, and was back in business without having to cycle power.
