Don't know about the backstory, but they sound fantastic. Played around with them for a couple of hours last night and rebuilt some presets using them.

The delays and reverbs are sufficient, but I sure won't complain when they get updated. I do miss my TC Electronic Reverbs (not enough to put them through a loop though).

The Allure IRs sound fantastic! Very full and responsive.

I liked the Celestion freebie. Sounds good with the Fender amp models for cleans.

FRFR is not hype if you want to make use of all the modeling in Helix, including amp/cab models, especially on a small gig where maybe only vocals and keys are going through the FOH. Otherwise you are stuck playing through a guitar amp using 4 cable method and using Helix mainly for effects.

I upvoted it to cancel it out :)

The signal still has to go input>A/D conversion>DSP>D/A conversion>output even if you are not "processing" the sound at the DSP level. That will take one of the 4 paths to accomplish.

I swear I'm trying..(Updated w/pix after 2.12 update)

Yep. If not, you are passing a portion of the signal signal by them which will be quite harsh. Think of it as passing 25% of your signal from your power amp past your speaker (cabinet) directly to the PA (figuratively speaking of course). You are running two IRs in parallel and you want all of the signal going to the IR to be processed to sound like it is all coming out of the cabinet. Things get a little strange in the Helix world because you can do things that are normally impossible in a "real" rig (like sending 75% of your signal to a speaker). -

On your IRs, if you have the mix at 75%, 25% of your signal is going through the IR not being processed. It is like running 25% of your signal straight out of the amp model. Crank the mix on your IRs to 100% to hear the difference. -
The IR pack is available for immediate download by the way...

I would go through the update process again to reinstall 2.12. Something may have been corrupted in the process.
-
Have you reflashed with 2.12 to see if the issue goes away?

The signal going into the amp and/or cab block gets turned into mono, even if it was stereo before that. That's why you just want to use mono effects before you amp or in between your amp and cab block, so you don't use up DSP power unnecessarily. Use stereo effects after your cab or IR. Give it a try with headphones on. Put no effects after your cab block and have a listen. Then put a reverb (all reverbs are stereo in Helix) after the cab block and have a listen.

I use my G10 around the house, live, all the time. It's all about personal preference.

Open up a support ticket with Line 6 and they will tell you what you need to do.

Try with headphones first to get things like you like them. Then go through the spreakers and adjust eq as necessary. It has nothing to do with your strat and single coils. I play strat/tele with single coils 95% of the time, and I am super happy with my presets using everything from Twin reverb to Mesa models. -
Where did you buy it from?

Oh yeah, that. They did design it to do that. I think I even quoted that once in a different thread. Too much going on this week. I need a break...

It's kind of like running effects in your effects loop of your amp (not exactly I know, but close). The effects loop signal gets processed, then to the power amp, then speaker. In the Helix, the cab block is like a mic'ed cab. So if you run effects after the cab block, it would be like running effects on the mic input signal from the mic in front of your amp into your main mixer. Putting the effects in between amp/cab (like in your "real amp's effects loop) gets processed by the cab block and tends to "soften" things up a bit. Give it a try for yourself. Put two effect in between and the same two after, assign them all to a single foot switch, and toggle between the two options. Another thing to keep in mind is that everything in front of the cab block gets summed to mono as it goes through the cab/IR block. Don't waste DSP power by putting stereo effects in front of the amp/cab. Because of this, I'll put at least a stereo reverb after the cab/IR to get things back to stereo again. Everything in front is mono, everything after is stereo if you want stereo. Stereo effects use more DSP power. That is why you are wasting processing if you put them in front.

Nice.

You may like some effects better in between the amp and cab block. I personally like bubble vibrato and tape delay in between (in that order). It gives you a little more flexibility. However you you just are making a quick simple preset that is just amp/cab and maybe a little reverb, just use the combo block.

You can take the XLR out into the XLR in on Helix, or into a direct box. I just use the 1/4" out into Helix. If I want to split off to multiple downstream components then you have to AB or Y it. I don't think they intended for both outputs to be used simultaneously, but someone could have used it if it did. I won't.
